Honesty it is an entirely different putter than any putt I have ever owned. When putts go in consistently you quickly forget the price of the putter. Love it, and highly recommend it.
Very interesting Matt! I am a co-founder at Q but actually my first push into golf tech and brand was in the late 90s and given there is only 1 club in the bag where you are allowed to point the shaft axis at the COG, I was amazed no one was. So I developed the Puku putter brand - which was "center-balanced" as we called this then, and Puku was also the first dedicated belly putter brand, and had an adjustable length mechanism which we got through the USGA and R&A as conforming. (Later we sold this tech to a big brand) The putter was, and is great, but we did not have not enough margin, and made no money, so moved on, and then the belly putter was banned of course !! No regret about the adventure, and I am pleased to see LAB and PXG releasing models that are sensibly balanced. Face balancing is a silly idea, as it has the balance directing the face UP - which is of course perfect if you want to hit a vertical putt. Toe hang is daft too! It's like deliberately designing an out of balance car tire - why would you? Cheers Simon
Seriously!!! Fckn over 500 for a putter is fckn crazy. It’s 449 but after the shaft and grip it’s over 500.. if you go to the PXG website you’ll see… 500 bucks on a putter won’t make you a great putter … just sayin
Thanks for the video Mr. Short game. I just wanted to say my game has gotten better and I've only played like 4 rounds this year. Your chipping video made a big difference
Thanks Matt for the video on this product. I ran down to Lenox today to compare it with mine, and ordered one! During the testing of my Scotty vs. PGX I learned how much I was rotating the face and skidding the ball on putts. I can’t wait for it to be delivered next week!
I've always subscribed to "if you can't see the line" you have no chance of making the putt. Technology does help but reading greens and pace control is key.
Compete with lab? You act like lab is odyssey or Scotty, in bags all across the country. They are not. They are a boutique brand selling big metal chunks of trash to a cult following.
Got paired up with a guy about 5 months ago who just retired from PXG. He was using this putter he said that it was still a ‘prototype’. Watching him pick up the ball with the bottom of the putter absolutely blew my mind. It looked like magic, or some weird magnet technology.
While most compare it to the LAB putter, don't forget that Axis1 was the first in the balanced game. I am definitely going to the Atlanta PXG store and try it. I just don't know if I can justify the price. BTW Matt Russell is a great fitter at the PXG Atlanta store.
There is no comparison. LAB has put the PXG Allen putter in the 'revealer' and it doesn't even come close to staying square to the arc and thus is *not* lie angle balanced and therefore does *not* have zero torque. You can even see it early in the video when Matt is 'spinning' the putter and there's noticeable torque of the putter. LAB putters don't spin like that.
It was incredibly tough to watch him dance around saying LAB putters directly. Wish he would have cut the shit and compared them head to head. Sponsored videos are hard watches when they are like this.
3 years ago I was custom fit for the DF2.1 and recently got custom fit remotely for the DF3. Should be in my hands next week. Can’t wait. This PXG looks good too.
I'm sure all the people who liked Adams Clubs felt superior till real companies used their technology better and in a cleaner more aesthetically pleasing club
I dunno. I’ve been a feel putter for 50 years and these “balanced” mallets absolutely force me to be mechanical. I would have to go through quite an adjustment period and that’s a change I’m not committed to make until I see some raw data instead of anecdotal chit-chat. Guys at my club have been using LAB’s for a while and their handicap indices are still the same. Just like they’ve been every year for the last twenty despite spending a fortune on new equipment every season.
I am a true believer that I don't care what putter you use it starts with you. I have golf with guys that have had the same putter for over 10 yers and putt like pro's. Just a thought. Love your channel. never miss a post.
I have an edel torque balanced putter, it's a blade putter, has some awesome looking milling with large needle bearings stacked for the sweet spot and a heel weight. It's very very forgiving and just wants to stay straight and level. I made it into an arm lock and it was the best thing I ever did. It was an awesome putter already and when I made an old blade into an arm lock for fun, it really gave me the reason to do the same to my edel. I'm down to maybe two 3 putts a round. And I've had multiple roundS with zero 3 putts. Torque balanced putters are the future for sure.
After putting with my new custom fit LAB LINK.1 putter for an hour or two I am a believer in the balancing technology. Just keep your hands quiet and focus on speed, it feels so much easier.
Not long bought tge DF3 so wont be changing anytime soon. It has change my putting for the better. If your thinking of buying a new putter then try the DF3 and compare with PXG,.
Got to putt with one of these a couple of days ago. It was impressive! Quality of a Betti and a cross between a Spider and a LAB. I couldn't hit anything with it tho. I'm an arm lock guy so it wasn't set up for me. It's a great contrarian choice for those who like to roll high end putters. I can see one of these in my bag in the future. But there was nothing magical about putting with it. It felt like any other putter
Thank you for this review video. I've been reading a lot of people that believe this competes with LAB. Personally I believe this is most similar to the Axis 1 putter. Probably most competitive with that brand. Please compare this Allan Putter to the Axis 1 Rose, a LAB D3.2, and your Honu putter. Keep up the great work.

I'm a big fan of no torque putters, but they are a bit spendy considering PXG are known for having affordable clubs. It's not so much the money but the concept of getting a good deal, though it is less expensive than the competition. I will wait until people trade them in because no putter, the inanimate one, will solve the putting problems of a poor putter, the animate one, no matter how revolutionary it is. At 4:10 Making more putts than (fewer) not less, which is incorrect usage, since the word "putts" is a countable noun. In fact, counting putts is integral to golf. However, I am not going to give away my secrets of how I achieve a balanced club as that is where I will make my profit, and the patent is currently being drawn up.
its on the way... I'll let you know how it works out!
Pretty cool putter.
Look like a spaceship, i play with my Scotty Cameron Newport 2 and i miss lots of putts but not for that my putter is bad...
So I use a rubber cup on the end of my putter to pick the ball out of the cup now but hate it. Can I get the ball out of a cup with this or is it too big?
Don't see it fitting in the hole. Just make a longer putt than your buddies and leave for them to retrieve... for $450 this should do that. 😉

Have you looked at Edel? They’re about as “normal” looking as you’ll get. They call theirs Torque Balanced.
3 years ago I was custom fit for the LAB DF2.1 and couldnt get used too the huge ugly head. recently got custom fit remotely for the DF3. Should be in my hands next week. Can’t wait. This PXG looks good too. If it was available when I custom ordered the DF3 I may have given it a look.
My alignment marks roll true on my old Carbite polar balanced mallet, lol.
I wanna buy one 🙈 / I don't know if there is a fitter here in the Algarve (Portugal)
I have a lab just don’t like the branding iron look. I’ve ordered one of these….😅
Pxg always kills on design. But feel wise best putter sik putter
I have both. Why not ?
I can see it's not as lie angle balanced as LAB. It doesn't spin even like theirs does.
Or am I crazy?
Still not sure why this is so new. I've been using an odessy putter for years that does the same thing. Is there really a difference?
Odyssey torques out. Go watch a video on a Honu or Lab putter to see their torques less spin on them
I'm sold just for the cool way to pick the ball up.
If you’re doing a video on putters I think the topic should be the outrageous prices of them.
Wont be taking my lab out of the bag for this copy
Watch LAB copy this now!
"Fewer and less are comparative words that indicate a smaller amount or number of something12345. The main difference between them is that fewer is used with countable nouns, such as choices, problems, or cookies1235, while less is used with uncountable nouns, such as time, effort, or milk1235. Fewer emphasizes the number of things, while less emphasizes the quantity or degree of something4".
For instance, in the future, I will be less inclined to comment on matters such as this if you make fewer mistakes.
