Dan, one thing to keep in mind with the test you did on the Antigravity. When you saw 13.24 volts on the battery, you need to keep in mind that these do not come fully charged. If you look at the diodes on a Ctek charger, when you first hook it up, it will only light up three diodes. The Antigravity batteries come with what is called storage charge, and that is about 45%, not 100%. You should charge it fully with a Ctek Lithium XS charger, and then do the test leaving the lights on. Trust me, even with the 40Ah battery you got, that will not drain in an hour. You took a battery that was not charged and put it against your Interstate which was fairly charged. When your Antigravity is fully charged, it will show about 13.5-13.6 volts.
Lead acid batteries typically work great in short discharge and stay fully charged situations like a car battery. Basically you start the car, short discharge, and then it stays fully charged while driving. Lithium Ion batteries typically are best for long discharge cycles like in power tools or electric cars. They start fully charged and maintain good voltage while being discharged for a long time until depleted. Best practice is 30% for drain and 80% charge for full. This type of battery is really not being fully utilized in this application and the small drain/fully charged state that cars do to maintain the battery may actually be detrimental to this type of battery. Most modern cars have battery minders built into their systems now so unexpected battery drains are prevented, such as leaving lights on etc. Lithium Ion batteries are engineered for repeated fast charge/long drain cycles.... :-)

dan and I disagree about needing to buy the lithium career as he feels you will never need it . maybe so but bought the special c-tek charger for lithium ( YES you need it to charge one ! ) cannot use a regular charger ! I have had the antigravity for a LONG time now and it works flawlessly !
Dan there is some info I think you should make an update video about. You can probably read about it in the response I posted to anther poster. But it is just important to know that it is not a complete failsafe. If it sits in the shut down mode and goes completely dead, the battery is basically toast. So it's an emergency feature, not a replacement for a charger. I learned this the hard way when I found that my charger had been disconnected from two cars over the winter by mistake. Both my AG Group 49 and Group 48 were gone. I did get AG to share costs as the batteries was in their last month of warranty, but they told me that it cannot sit in the shut off mode for longer than 4-6 weeks at the most.
I'd have been afraid that your test would have introduced some weird gremlins into the electrical system. My car is in storage on the trickle charger for the season... maybe get Antigravity to extend the discount to the Spring when we are reunited!
Your computer needs 9v to keep up ram or rom memory..i forget which one ..one is preset ..one is activated by o2 sensor and then adjusted by sensors on car ...if it drops below 9v those readings are lost and it will have to go thru several cycles again...last i knew from turning wrenches

I have been wondering for years why cars don't track the battery voltage and amps and when it becomes critical, have some sort of master shutoff. Looks like these guys took it to the next level and said "why not just put it in the battery?" Bad ass!!! Glad they decided to work with you as I have never heard of these and I need to get one!! You should also tell them "Hey. Awesome product and if you need anything in the future of your company software wise.....call me" haha.
@@normalguysupercar I feel like its just one of those things. Johnson Controls, who.....dominates the battery market, probably had this figured out 20 years ago. The problem is that there is WAYYY too much money in the battery market and jumpstart boxes that if they made these, their revenue would decrease due to incredible battery life. They would be shooting themselves in the foot.
Also Lithium Ion batteries don't like the cold. So any environments colder than 0 F would not be advised. Electric cars actually have heaters built into the battery management system to keep them warm in winter climates. :-)
Just got a 488, thinking aboit buying this battery. You can’t plug it in using the magnetic tender after swapping out, right? Also, what’s your experience been letting it sit and not trickle charging it? Tnx!
Very nice feature with the auto-shut off function, i would just keep the remote somewhere in the car (on the outside), never understand why more of these cars don´t have some way of plugging in 12V cable outside (and for a Ferrari on a trickle charger i would actually fashion something like a vacuum cleaner extension cord from the back of the car.
Pretty cool! I would think you'd want to stash that remote under your car somewhere so that if you're ever out of town and the battery shuts itself off, you have a way to turn it back on.
So the automatic shutoff/built-in jumpstart looks like a pretty awesome feature. But if it shuts off the battery then you're still going to be stuck resetting the clock, computer, etc if you run down the charge to the point that it engages. If that is the case and your car has some level of parasitic drain, you have to wonder if it's more annoying to hook up the trickle charger regularly or have to reset everything (assuming the battery drops to that low level regularly).

Had their RS30 battery, was truly incredible bit of kit and only weighed in at 7lbs and was good enough to power my F-Type SVR, their batteries are truly fantastic. Only reason RS30 is not in my 458 is because it was too tall! However I shall be getting one of these because at 16lbs it is vastly lighter and superior battery to the stock Ferrari unit.
Yeah well done, great video. Any upgrade is good however I would advise checking voltage regulator. Definitely charging voltage of 13.7 is too low for standard car battery. Maybe ok for your new atigravity? I hope it is. Good luck with all your future projects.
I am on 12 years and counting on my AGM Odyssey PC1200 battery, and I have several of them in my various cars. These batteries look interesting, but I am not fully convinced that they are worth it. They are light and powerful, but cost is high and durability still needs to be proven. Recycling Lithium batteries is another con. Thanks for posting your video though.
What a great review. I’ve been looking for a battery solution for my MKIV Supra, and I think I may have just found my battery. Thank you Sir. Love your positive spirit too.
12.8v is full, 12.4v is 50% charge capacity. Below 50% state of charge, reactions occur that begin to severely degrade both the lifetime (number of potential charge cycles) and recharge capacity of the battery. (for lead acid batteries)
What great timing! I spent the morning researching lightweight batteries for my old Austin Healey...I’m on the site now seeing what they have that will work for me...
That is awesome! I could have used a battery like this two years ago. I had a bmw 5 series 2004 that kept raining the battery. Left me many times in a parking lot looking for a jump. Awesome video!
IMO, the cost-to-benefit ratio isn't there for an automotive lithium-ion battery. Also consider they catch fire from time to time and I'll just stay with a lightweight glass mat battery.
The problem is not starting the car, the problem is the car's sophisticated safety systems need enough juice from the battery (which has been depleted) these systems are critical to the safe operation of a 458 (or any modern Ferrari for that matter). Back in the days of the 308 they did not have traction control or electronica stability control systems.
The weight savings alone is amazing. To save 30 pounds in a Porsche 911 you have to pay an extra $20,000 just to get stupid nylon door straps and plastic windows! This battery is awesome! I will defiantly buy this product based solely on this video!
On battery tenders, you have to be careful what you connect to a Li-Ion battery. Some tenders have a high-voltage mode that triggers if the battery is low. That's fine with a Pb-acid battery but may destroy a Li-Ion one. I'd still recommend a tender, particularly if your car has a tracker as they both use juice and don't like it if that auto cut-out trips; the tracker may log that as a theft attempt. But there are Li-Ion compatible tenders out there.

So my Miata has been on jack stands nearly a month now for clutch replacement. Battery in the trunk has been connected the whole time. I’ll be interested to see if it will start up after I get it all fixed up hopefully next weekend.
If there's not much parasitic loss and the battery is in good shape you should be ok. I've had the subaru sitting for over a month, it barely started but it did.
I love your channel, thanks for all you DIY about the 458. Please do more! By the way, what is the model of your phone holder? I am looking to buy one.
Wow cool product! I like all the test you did with a base line with the old battery. The key fob is perfect for these cars as you know most the batteries are not easily accessible. With the weight savings I'm wondering if so manufactures might put this in some of the track focused cars.
Damn that is pretty bad ass Dan! I’m going to consider this when I need a new battery. My car same thing, is a hog with parasitic loss. Thanks for the great video!
Now that you've had some time with the new battery, I'd be interested to know how long you've let it sit before starting it. My car may sit for 2 or 3 weeks without being started, and I'd like to get a battery that will start without having to be put on a tender.
Using the "restart" feature on a regular basis is probably not a good idea. The engine and other system management devices probably don't like being completely off in any kind of regular fashion.

@@trickysyoutube Yes. In just the same way as if you disconnect the battery. Mind you, you can't just use this to replace the battery. I have had some warranty struggles with AG last year because of a lack of information. Yes it will shut off, but it will still use some power for the system that controls the restart feature. If the battery sits too long shut off, even that system will die, and we are talking 4-6 weeks after it shuts itself off, not months. So it is not a miracle cure. My cars will sit for a good amount of time without a tender and without it shutting off, but after the battery shuts down, you need to be on it. The problem is that as long as the battery is shut off due to the low voltage cut-off, you can't charge it. If you can't wake it because the Restart is dead, the battery is basically trash. Just something to be mindful of.
I thought the lithium ion batteries do not work at their best in very cold temps on an ongoing basis. I thought you had to buy a much larger amp hour unit for this and then I’m guessing the weight goes up…
By the way, my sports car is never on a tender during the summer, only during the winter when it is parked. The factory fitted AGM is going into its 9th year.

why don't you build a small box attached to the frame under it, or some other part you don't mind screwing 2 holes into, that way you can turn it back on without getting in
I presume once it shuts off you have to re=enter radio code and reset clock. How many days can the car sit before the battery shuts off? Does it take more days then a regular battery not on a tender
Cool battery. I like the battery status, but it will draw power making it lose power even faster. Cool gadget though. I just use my tenders and batteries will last 3-4yrs. Eventually this technology will become common place when OEM's start using it. At that time prices will drop, but will still be over $500-600 since an OEM battery is expensive as is. Great review to let us know how it works.
Hey dan, glad to see your getting sponsored! I still remember the video where you and meg told us if you hit a certain sub amount you would be able to get the 458. How far you've come!
Any issue with amp draw exceeding the cooling ability of the alternator when the battery is low and the vehicle is idling?? Or does the battery have a BMS that limits amp draw on charge?
@@normalguysupercar My car starts up no problems, but starts putting out warning messages - AVS, ESC and Mannetino failure. Sometimes it goes away after a bit of driving once restarted. Sometimes it randomly comes back during driving. Not sure what to do but may start with the battery. Just got the car so not sure how old it is.
Quick question Dan, where does it say it last 10 yrs? I was reading up FAQ it says 3 yr warranty and battery usually last 4 yrs according to them... unless there’s a diff life for diff size battery etc.
Def a very cool product! The prices are pretty crazy though! If they do last 10+ years it *might* be worth it though depending on how long your car battery lasts. Mine typically lasts 3-5 years and costs about $150.
Yeah it's about the same over the lifetime. But I personally would keep this battery and move it to the next car assuming I don't keep it that long. Lol
Neat vid on this product. Between the oil, power stearing, and fuel injector o-ring leaks, my car already has enough fire concern without adding a lithium battery to the equation. I thought about a li-ion battery setup on my work truck, but after seeing one catch fire, I decided against.
@@jackdale9249 - hi. Thanks for the reply. I didn't say "explode." I said "catch fire." Lithium batteries require more precise charging control than lead acid batteries in order to prevent a charging related fire.
You will lose your security codes on the radio...and my camry if you remove the battery.... It forgets the idle position... So hmm? Also some lamborghinis will need to go back to the dealer if you disconect the battery for some time!....how you unlock the door! Its electronic.... How do you pop the hood? Be prepared for some sticker shock though. It’s very cool. And I’m needing a battery. When I looked it up, it’s $950. No thanks. I can buy a new lead battery every 2 years for 10 years for that money. And I usually get at least 5 years out of a battery.
I have a code popping up in my 458 (Engine control system failure) and I am thinking it may have something to do with the voltage. I was in the process of purchasing the Braille I48CS Lithium Ion Battery which prices in at about $2,500. Have you done any comparisons with the Braille to the Antigravity ? Also have you seen this code on your 458 ?
Ordered mine but I think the NGSC mafia sold them out! Will get mine in 2 weeks...no biggie since Bella is in the garage for the winter (on a battery tender, natch). Can't wait to install it and wave bye bye to the Ferrari gremlins.
Problem I would have with this is I would lose all my fuel trims, gearbox and clutch learns and god knows what else. Don't know what the 458 is like in that regard but the older F cars struggle with no power and you cant just throw power back on and drive you have to follow the power off procedure which means 10 mins at idle before you drive etc.
@@normalguysupercar Ferrari have a very specific cold and dark start up procedure for most modern models. I don't know what it is for the 458 but for the 430 and 355 its very specific. dan and I disagree about needing to buy the lithium career as he feels you will never need it . maybe so but bought the special c-tek charger for lithium ( YES you need it to charge one ! ) cannot use a regular charger !
Ah that's good info. Yeah lithium batteries do not like going to 0
When disconnecting battery, what features or settings need to be reset ?
Clock. Then just let the computers recalibrate for 30 seconds before turning in, and let it idle for a minute or 2.
Look in your 458 owners manual. There's a guide on what you do when battery has been disconnected.
Any long term update on this battery? Would be good to know how it’s been performing over the year. Thanks.
So far so good! Have not had any problems, starts up every time
@@normalguysupercar Good to know! Any chance you can get that discount extended? :D
That is a super cool battery. It would be great for things like boats and RV’s as well.
Of yeah those sit around a ton as well
I'd have been afraid that your test would have introduced some weird gremlins into the electrical system. My car is in storage on the trickle charger for the season... maybe get Antigravity to extend the discount to the Spring when we are reunited!
Yea, I hope for a longer discount as well... I don't anticipate needing a battery for awhile, but will keep this video in mind for whenever I do!
Well if this does well maybe they'll do another discount in the future. 😁👍
Your computer needs 9v to keep up ram or rom memory..i forget which one ..one is preset ..one is activated by o2 sensor and then adjusted by sensors on car ...if it drops below 9v those readings are lost and it will have to go thru several cycles again...last i knew from turning wrenches
Ram. 😁
you are missing that the Lithium battery will rarely, if EVER go dead ! he just did this as an experiment ! and IF you use the monitor, you will know before it goes dead and can run the car or charge the battery ! ( you MUST buy and use the special c-tek lithium charger ONLY ! if you use a charger )
so this is only going to happen when you swap out the battery ! I started my F430 key off and on all they said and after 30 min of driving it around it was fine !
you can use a 9V battery w/ the key on and plugged into a cig lighter or a 9 battery hooked to the battery cables when you do battery swap and never lose settings !
What a huge butt saver! I remember being in the Ferrari Club before and the battery issue was a big deal. Love the puppy shirt.
Haha thank you! I seem the shirt on my website.
Yeah this would be a huge but saver when out and about if you aren't somewhere you can use a tender.
Lol! Yeah it's interesting that these guys figured out a solution that the cars companies couldn't...
Indeed
actually, these will work fine in the cold you are wrong again
Just got a 488, thinking aboit buying this battery. You can’t plug it in using the magnetic tender after swapping out, right?
Also, what’s your experience been letting it sit and not trickle charging it? Tnx!
You'd have to get a Lithium charger. I still prefer plugging it in when the car is going to sit for a while
Hey what’s the name of the battery product & application on your phone? Is there a link?
It's the battery tracker, antigravity sells it.
Excellent! Thanks!
The newest ones do actually! They typically are near the license plate.
Just came home from bringing my Range Rover back to life, which stood about 8 month around. What a coincidence ☺️
Haha nice
Is your car lowered or are the wheels just bigger than stock? Or both
It's lowered
Pretty cool! I would think you'd want to stash that remote under your car somewhere so that if you're ever out of town and the battery shuts itself off, you have a way to turn it back on.
If I'm heading out of town I'll put it on my Keychain
i keep one on the fann y pack i allways use
they give you two !
Wow!! Thats huge!! Definitely picking this up! Thank you for this information.
You bet
I wish this battery would remove the “Ferrari beeping”. Whoever designed that sound needs firing.
True
Aiden Berliner oh seriously? That’s awesome!
True but it would take quite a while (many days if not months) for it to drain that much to have it shut off.
you are missing that the Lithium battery will rarely, if EVER go dead ! he just did this as an experiment ! and IF you use the monitor, you will know before it goes dead and can run the car or charge the battery ! @@normalguysupercar THX yes some friends & chaps have seen my posts re the battery on media and have said they will prob buy .
I remember when I spoke w/ braille battery ( yes, Without question ! the best available & used by most ALL race teams , indy cars etc ! ) they dissed "the pouch cells" - ( they use the supposedly superior cylindrical type ) but I pointed out they, Anti-gravity ) had a 3 year warranty and I could buy about 3 antigravity for the price of ONE braille battery !
I suggested they compete on price ! ( and features ! ) LOL

Yup its pretty impressive how light they are. And here people spend thousands of dollars on carbon bits just to save a few ounces. Lol...
30lbs lighter!!!!! That's awesome. I may have to grab a couple of them for my toys.
Heck yeah!
Yeah well done, great video.
Any upgrade is good however I would advise checking voltage regulator.
Definitely charging voltage of 13.7 is too low for standard car battery.
Maybe ok for your new atigravity?
I hope it is.
Good luck with all your future projects.
That's idle
I am on 12 years and counting on my AGM Odyssey PC1200 battery, and I have several of them in my various cars. These batteries look interesting, but I am not fully convinced that they are worth it. They are light and powerful, but cost is high and durability still needs to be proven. Recycling Lithium batteries is another con. Thanks for posting your video though.
Wow. Sold... do you think the Antigravity battery would exceed the performance of a deep cycle battery? I could get an additional one for my truck.
You'd have to ask them
What a great review.
Ah good info!
This would be such a great thing to add to my 430. Do they have compatible batteries for the 430 still? And is there Any new codes? Thanks!
Yes the h6 group 48. Ngs10 works on our website to take 10% off.
What great timing! I spent the morning researching lightweight batteries for my old Austin Healey...I’m on the site now seeing what they have that will work for me...

Hello !!! Nice video, i need to change the battery in my F458 italia , where i can get one of those ??? Thankssss

That is awesome! I could have used a battery like this two years ago. I had a bmw 5 series 2004 that kept raining the battery. Left me many times in a parking lot looking for a jump. Awesome video!
Ah yeah that's always fun.
I may have missed it but was there a particular model # for the antigravity battery?
H6
So ..can i use this to start project cars ? Cranking amps.? Use a gel battery now
1500cca on the battery I have
IMO, the cost-to-benefit ratio isn't there for an automotive lithium-ion battery.
There's a lot of extra stuff... Computers, hydraulic pumps, etc. All that stuff takes a lot of energy
The weight savings alone is amazing. To save 30 pounds in a Porsche 911 you have to pay an extra $20,000 just to get stupid nylon door straps and plastic windows! This battery is awesome! I will defiantly buy this product based solely on this video!
Yeah it's funny how we justify spending thousands to save ounces but people bitch about a battery being expensive when it saves 30lbs! Lol
Yes Antigravity sells a Lithium safe tender is you want it.
you CANNOT charge a lithium battery w/a regular charger c-tek same maker as OEM sells a great lithium charger

Normal Guy Supercar shouldn’t be much of any loss, I wouldn’t think. What causes parasitic losses on Ferrari’s and other exotics?

Wow cool product! I like all the test you did with a base line with the old battery. The key fob is perfect for these cars as you know most the batteries are not easily accessible. With the weight savings I'm wondering if so manufactures might put this in some of the track focused cars.
It sure seems like they should be putting it in track cars
Damn that is pretty bad ass Dan! I’m going to consider this when I need a new battery. My car same thing, is a hog with parasitic loss. Thanks for the great video!
You're welcome
Enjoyed that Dan , & the cars looking very shiny , nice work 👍👍👍
Thank you
Now that you've had some time with the new battery, I'd be interested to know how long you've let it sit before starting it. My car may sit for 2 or 3 weeks without being started, and I'd like to get a battery that will start without having to be put on a tender.
I decided to keep it on a tender just to condition the battery so it lasts longer
Using the "restart" feature on a regular basis is probably not a good idea. The engine and other system management devices probably don't like being completely off in any kind of regular fashion.
Yeah it's not meant to be a daily thing. But it shouldn't unless it really gets low.

@@trickysyoutube
Yes.
Just something to be mindful of.
perfect video for us northeastern USers who are preparing for winter
Yes! Probably is great for that
I thought the lithium ion batteries do not work at their best in very cold temps on an ongoing basis. I thought you had to buy a much larger amp hour unit for this and then I’m guessing the weight goes up…
Fantastic product! Thanks for sharing, Dan!

Thanks again Dan very Informative.....Have been using battery tenders for years and years.....Going to look into the New battery.....
Awesome
Make sure you use a lithium specific charger maintainer when using this battery.
Yup
By the way, my sports car is never on a tender during the summer, only during the winter when it is parked. The factory fitted AGM is going into its 9th year.

Yes but you need a tender that can work with Lithium batteries.

Cool battery. I like the battery status, but it will draw power making it lose power even faster. Cool gadget though. I just use my tenders and batteries will last 3-4yrs. Any issue with amp draw exceeding the cooling ability of the alternator when the battery is low and the vehicle is idling??
Or does the battery have a BMS that limits amp draw on charge?
I haven't had any issues
Thanks for sharing this is very useful and way much better than ordinary batteries. Hope to get one someday.
My opinion the weight savings alone is worth it!!!
Certainly cheaper than saving that much with carbon fiber bits. Lol!

That certainly could be the battery. Check the date on it.

Lol
Americans are SO cheap !
Neat vid on this product.
Between the oil, power stearing, and fuel injector o-ring leaks, my car already has enough fire concern without adding a lithium battery to the equation.
I thought about a li-ion battery setup on my work truck, but after seeing one catch fire, I decided against.
Haha I suppose that's a valid concern
lithium are NOT that explosive ! they changed the chemistry ! and ANY old lead acid can explode too ! they make hydrogen gas ! remember ?
@@jackdale9249 - hi. Thanks for the reply. I didn't say "explode." I said "catch fire." Lithium batteries require more precise charging control than lead acid batteries in order to prevent a charging related fire.
Does it reset your clock and stuff every time?

You will lose your security codes on the radio...and my camry if you remove the battery.... It forgets the idle position... So hmm? Sweet!
I have not done a comparison. That message is a generic one, you need to actually pull the code to know what's actually wrong.

@@normalguysupercar thats why they call you an "influencer " you make them an offer they can't refuse ! LOL ( you are just NICE about it ! )
Problem I would have with this is I would lose all my fuel trims, gearbox and clutch learns and god knows what else. @@normalguysupercar Ferrari have a very specific cold and dark start up procedure for most modern models. I don't know what it is for the 458 but for the 430 and 355 its very specific.
