Daniel, I hate to tell you afterwards and I might told you before there is a factory trickle point just below the powersteering/breakfluied tank, behind the panel you pointed out in the video. It is a 3 point socket under a cap. A cable out of the frunk (lid down, not locked) is no issue. I Do this already over 4 years. Note: as you open and close your driver door so many times, the pump wears down. By closing (not fully) it untill the interior light goes off you safe the pump lifetime span
Not sure if it was already mentioned, but there are connection point right behind the driver seat. I installed the dongle for a Battery Tender there. The connecting wire can be run under the driver door (recommended towards the front to minimize pinching) or you can leave the window open 1/4".
The Ctek cable will not damage the door seal. Many of the F-chat users have recommended to run cable trough at the "front lower corner" of the door. I've done this for the past 6 months and seal is perfect.
I plug mine into cigarette lighter socket in my Porsche, lay the battery maintainer on the floor, then run the cord through open window (rolled down about 3 inches). When I go to use my car, just unplug from socket, then lay maintainer on the shelf next to drivers side. Works for me.
hey Dan, behind the driver seat are battery studs. My 2005 F430 had ctek quick plugs there. Also on my 458 I run the batt tender wires out the pass side door. fyi
Daniel just in general thank you for all your videos and hard work, and motivating us to not be scared to work on are Ferrari’s, really appreciate all the headaches you will save me and $$$ thank you.👍
Nice work dan, I just bought a ctek mxs 5.0 test and charge for my M3, I only do 20 minute commutes and it kills the agm battery on this thing, a great piece of kit really impressed with it so far, hopefully it should make my new battery last longer than its 4 year warranty. Ferrari battery in the passenger footwell seriously !!, that's as bad as the Citroën Picasso here in the UK under the passenger seat itself.
@Daniel, hate to tell you this but there is a adapter for ctek batter tender it can plug direct to the eom plug and you can run the the wire underneath the passenger door then close the door normally. The adapter like 79$ on ebay . i used it on my 458
Dan I have my tender lines running threw the Frunk As well. As for the light being on, it goes out after about 15 minutes or you can push down on the lock latch while the trunk lid is open so the car thinks the Frunk is closed and the light will go out immeditaly. When you want to actually lock the hood and go for a drive, simply pull up on the trunk lock safety release and it will open the lock latch and let you lock the Frunk like normal. Also Dan, I noticed you have amplifiers in the trunk, that means your positive and negative leads are already there. You could of just wired the tender into the amplifier lines. Thats what I did and I can send you a pic if you want. Thanks again for your videos. Ray
I just take my charger out through the passenger door, close the door and done. There is actually a sticker on the door that shows you where to place the cord.
@@normalguysupercar I do this with my 360, run the CTEK through the door and it's done, cable doesn't pinch at all, it says in the owners manual of the F430 you can run the cable through the door, this applies to the ctek also which is actually a smaller cable.
did i see a factory charger that was similar ? where does it hook up ? the AA ( brit AAA) you tube video showed the places to connect jumper cables and it was behind the driver seat ? is that right ?
A friend has upgraded his Porsche w/ many parts fr wrecked cars that had the expensive accessories, options his car did not come w/ ! he has done this w/ several Porsches, saved thousands ! and I have done it w/ my Saabs! EG fitted the UK electric aiming headlights! ( us models were manual aim ) etc my thinking is you could get a optional charging port , wiring fr a wreck (oops" recycled " now days! ) ferrari regards, neil
Mine just comes out under the dash where the battery is. The bit you plug it into can be hidden really easily by tucking it up under the dash when not in use. When in use it just goes out between the door and sill seal no problem
Hi Daniel, a tad hot in the garage? ;) it is 46° in ours! That looked like a reasonable PITA! On the 308 it is under the spare tire under the bonnet. I installed a lead for a Battery Tender. You might want to double check your battery in a few months... Mine reverse electroplated the connection ring and made a mess! Also, so you don't drag the charger half way down the driveway, place a micro fiber towel on your windshield as a reminder. I have dragged that damn thing down the driveway more than I'd like to admit. Sweet having a camera person! That must be nice... Franny
Hi Dan, On the Porsche I ran it into the frunk. When I plug it in I merely run the cable out by the wind screen, the rubber gasket is plenty soft to not warp the hood and cable won't get chaffed by the fender or nose area around the hood. When I'm done I just open the frunk, disconnect and drop the cable back in the frunk.
Haha! Exact same CTek, exact same extension and everything! Good choice. I love mine! Oh, and for what it's worth, I run mine out the trunk, but I don't have a light in there to worry about. Oh! And if your battery is an AGM (I have an Optima Red Top) the CTek docs say to use the "cold weather" mode (snowflake icon) as it puts out a bit more juice, which AGMs prefer.
Great video , what timing you have as I just hooked up my special car to the battery tender. How is Meg's car doing? It looks like it is hot down there as it snowed here ( WA ) for 2 days.
Pretty nice integration! It’s so much harder on the 355 and earlier cars because the battery is in the passenger footwell also, but it’s accessible via the fender liner, so you have to remove the front right wheel to get to it and then I have no clue where you snake the leads, probably into the frunk too. Definitely not a bad idea to have the tender, although you drive yours so often, I’m surprised that it really needs one!
Daniel Hurlbert I think it was a good move, especially if you go on a trip or something, certainly a good idea to have it plugged in. That’s the charger I use on my M5, it works really well. I think the “OEM” Ferrari charger is the same one, just with a Ferrari logo and, of course, Ferrari Tax
Passenger door is ok. As soon as u try to open the door window dropping. But driver side I tried to reset it didn’t work. I guess may b switch is not working Have u change P1 pump? Thanks
That would certainly answer that. I guess it was only an option? I was under the impression that all the F430s had a charge port specific to the OEM tender under the passenger side dash close to the door.
The factory one is under the glove box to the right. It is very clean and when plugged in you can’t start the car or put it in gear. Ferrari only wants $400 for the $100 charger! I found my genuine Ferrari charger for $75 on eBay Are you sure you don’t have the charge port? I did not know until a friend pointed it out. I’m sure you will be fine Keep up the good videos! Thanks
Hey Dan thanks for all the great videos on 430 stuff. I just got a CTEK 4.3 Im going to install it soon. I see in your videos your tuning off the battery in the front. Ive heard when you do that then turn it back on the car goes through a programing thing. is this true? and if so is it a simple thing?
Yes and yes. When you plug it back in, first you will need to lock and unlock the car using the remote. Then go turn the ignition on but don't hit the starter. Let it sit for a good 30 seconds. Then turn it on and let it idle for a few minutes. Then you should be good to go.
You're always so energetic and positive, but you also have a negative side. Also, be careful with all the wine. You don't want to end up in AA and not be in charge anymore.
Daniel Hurlbert did a good job there..u probably will notice your gear changes be smoother with battery at full power consistently..noticed that in my smt toyota..which has similar trans layout..hehe
Is there a similar device that will keep a battery charged w/o having to plug the device into a wall outlet? I don't have a garage & don't think my landlord will allow me to keep the battery charged inside my house; she will view it as a fire hazard.
Hi I am watching your video very helpful to don’t get charge too much with dealer. My driver side window is not dropping any more if I close the door May be u can help me Thanks for making this video
I have a factory optioned Ferrari battery tender, i had it plugged in all night and it still shows red light. i tried to disconnect the battery plug in the frunk and it does not charge at all. the manual does not show how to use it, btw I love ur style of video, I hate these guys who are yelling at u in the video!!!
Strange battery location...I once knew some guy who had zero mechanical ability called me in a panic....his wife's car battery was dead but he could not find it....I think it was late 90's Plymouth Breeze....which was not a breeze.....I read the owners guide and you had to take off the left front tire to access the battery. It took me 45 mins and a busted knuckel or two to get it out. No wonder they went under.
In today's episode, Dan saves another $400 by not purchasing a Ferrari battery tender and opting for a CTek, which is just as good (if not better). Tune in next time, true believers, for another exciting, common sense, money-saving episode. Same bat time, same bat channel.
For a second I thought that was Kevin Kraack with the rally Saturn doing Extreme Auto Launching in the Teckademics Mischief 3000 documentary, which came out in 2002. ua-cam.com/video/XyRPwr_QpHQ/v-deo.htmlm22s
Daniel Hurlbert yeah apparently this Gumball 3000 happened in early 2002 I think. When I first bought that DVD I was pissed because I was living in Nashville at the time and they came right through there. The part right after the Saturn segment shows them at Opryland in Nashville, and had I known about it I could have gone out there and seen all these badass cars.
The while poly type liner is held in place with that black tar like stuff for weather stripping. You can"t pull it away from the firewall without ripping it. Obviously someone else has been in there before.
Daniel, I hate to tell you afterwards and I might told you before there is a factory trickle point just below the powersteering/breakfluied tank, behind the panel you pointed out in the video. It is a 3 point socket under a cap.

A CTEK MXS5.0 charger is all that is needed for most sport cars.
@Daniel, hate to tell you this but there is a adapter for ctek batter tender it can plug direct to the eom plug and you can run the the wire underneath the passenger door then close the door normally. The adapter like 79$ on ebay . i used it on my 458

The factory charger is the same thing just with Ferrari badges on it. On the 430 if it had the optional charger port it was on the passenger side.
A friend has upgraded his Porsche w/ many parts fr wrecked cars that had the expensive accessories, options his car did not come w/ ! he has done this w/ several Porsches, saved thousands ! and I have done it w/ my Saabs! right so if you wanted to you could get the optional charger port that was on the passenger side.fr a Ferrari parts recycler ?
Your videos are very informative. I'm from Malaysia and I'm planning on getting a F430 soon ..
Mine just comes out under the dash where the battery is. The bit you plug it into can be hidden really easily by tucking it up under the dash when not in use. When in use it just goes out between the door and sill seal no problem
Negative Image I know right!! me too.. So Simple. Don't know why he had to go through all the trouble putting it all the way through to the trunk
Also if your feeding wires around your car rap them with cloth tape to protect cables from rubbing and it also looks factory .
Good idea
What makes high end cars so different from the rest when it comes to battery? It can't just be the v10, yet they always die/cause issues.
There’s a port for a Ferrari branded trickle charger in the front boot of my 360 which should be same in yours.

Yeah, that sounds like a similar setup to mine. Works great.

After looking at your superleggera duct tape, I was thinking you may want to use the aluminum Hvac tape instead for a more authentic look.
Hell yeah, carbon fiber look tape is even better! Bought the same charger and love it. Take it easy Dan.

But driver side I tried to reset it didn’t work.
I guess may b switch is not working
Have u change P1 pump?
Thanks
My F1 pump was replaced before I bought the car so it's probably good for a while longer.
Out of curiosity why didnt you make an adapter to plug into the factory charge port?
That would certainly answer that. I guess it was only an option? I was under the impression that all the F430s had a charge port specific to the OEM tender under the passenger side dash close to the door.
Let me know how it works I use the battery tender brand same concept. I've seen some that plug into the cig lighter or usb
I've tried all kinds of batteries seems the gold or platinum works best from advance for reasons unknown
The F430 has 7 computers running at all times. The battery will go dead in 3 weeks without the tender, where in a regular car you could go 3 months.
1er ferrari hibrido enchufable?
U make me more comfortable digging in my lx570 for trailer brakes ... your the man
Dan, what do you think of the Braille Group 48 Lithium battery for the 458?
I don't know, I haven't tried one
Very informative vid Dan, I've got the charger, now all I need is the f430 to connect too to it lol cheers mate
Daniel Hurlbert you bet bro lol it will happen one day rock on dan
The factory one is under the glove box to the right. It is very clean and when plugged in you can’t start the car or put it in gear. Ferrari only wants $400 for the $100 charger! I found my genuine Ferrari charger for $75 on eBay

Nice to see a new DIY video :)

Nice! I got a charge out of that!
You're always so energetic and positive, but you also have a negative side. Also, be careful with all the wine. You don't want to end up in AA and not be in charge anymore.
No more comments from the Peanut Gallery!
congrats, ctek is good stuff..tricky battery location though
Daniel Hurlbert did a good job there..u probably will notice your gear changes be smoother with battery at full power consistently..noticed that in my smt toyota..which has similar trans layout..hehe
Daniel Hurlbert yup..those pumps requires good current and gets snappier..have a good one buddy..
finally something that I actually do myself as well. By the way I never keep the battery cover screwed down
Hi Dan Ron from Dallas here. Could you have not charged through your cigarette lighter? Great Videos
I think that is not connected when the ignition isn't on..
thanks your right after checking with dealer (which i have never been to) sticky video was spot on and saved me $$ Thanks
Set up your ctek to a magcode connector
Do you know if there is an access to run an aux mp3 cable from radio to glove? Just like your route from front boot to battery.
Gee tough crowd tonight, I am not sure how much your “Helpers” really helped.
We added comic relief which most was edited out for various reasons.
Is there a similar device that will keep a battery charged w/o having to plug the device into a wall outlet? I don't have a garage & don't think my landlord will allow me to keep the battery charged inside my house; she will view it as a fire hazard.
I suppose it's possible there's some sort of solar powered charger but nothing I'm aware of.
Hi
I am watching your video very helpful to don’t get charge too much with dealer.
My driver side window is not dropping any more if I close the door
May be u can help me
Thanks for making this video
Perhaps check if the door switch is working.
Thank you very much.
Your welcome , i been searching all morn for the battery charger manual, no luck. Can u suggest an option?
@@mpublic4474 I'm not sure I haven't had that problem
I just run my cable out of the bottom of the passenger door and keep the charger in the footwell.
same for me and my 360
Installed one on my bike never did it on my cars
Daniel Hurlbert you would be surprised it was a v rod had to take a lot off
And I thought installing one of these in my Audi was a pain in the ass lol beauty car btw! 👌
Ha! Thanks!
Got to say it...You can't see the status lights were you mounted it....
True
Strange battery location...I once knew some guy who had zero mechanical ability called me in a panic....his wife's car battery was dead but he could not find it....I think it was late 90's Plymouth Breeze....which was not a breeze.....I read the owners guide and you had to take off the left front tire to access the battery. Gregg H in the Lamborghini i think the battery is located inside a panel at the left rear wheel... another strange location! 😆
Gregg H That’s where my 348’s battery is located. ☹️
Cute and accurate
Thanks
Why did they duct tape that??!! What should actually be there?
Daniel Hurlbert Thank you!

The Ferrari provided is a CTEK unit as well, just with a Ferrari sticker on it! A 400usd sticker though!
That makes my stomach ache quite badly.

Don't forget to unplug it before you drive off
it's too easy, 4 screws on the bottom shelf. once opened you will see large hot power cord and negative feeding the fuses
Cigarette lighter plug used be good for trickle ..till it got shut by the ignition..
Yup
Daniel what's your email? I'd like to show u what I'm working with
Daniel Hurlbert ty
Daniel Hurlbert I sent you a lot of my cars please let me know if u got them
Daniel Hurlbert I sent u a lot lol u can tell I'm not a key board warrior lol
Let me know when u get them
Daniel Hurlbert says they were denied my # is 843-598-0314
Can't buy the shirt I'd be called a poser
What a horrible design flaw having to use duct tape.
The while poly type liner is held in place with that black tar like stuff for weather stripping. You can"t pull it away from the firewall without ripping it. Obviously someone else has been in there before.
