Thanks for the demonstration on how to use Glaxnimate. When I use the zoom in Glaxnimate I can't scroll like it is in the video. I do not know why. Do I need to turn on some function for it?
I use the mouse wheel to zoom in/out the content of the preview. To move the content (I think that's what you call scrolling), I press + hold the mouse wheel and move the mouse.
Great video .. easy to follow I have a question though .. I want to be able to scoll text from right to left (which I can do) but want it only to be visible on the right side of the screen .. would this be possible and if so, how ?
Hi Brian, and thanks for the comment. What you ask is relatively easy to do. Put your text on a transparent clip on a track on top of your timeline and use the "Crop: Rectangle" filter to hide the text on the left part of the screen. Example: ua-cam.com/video/kNZ0FPswsdY/v-deo.html You can also use the "Mask: Simple Shape" filter. But in my opinion, the Crop filter is easier to use. Example: ua-cam.com/video/iO38U9A-Bao/v-deo.html
@@musicalboxbitspieces Many thanks for your reply. I'll give it a go later on today .. Sadly my wife wants me to do some decorating ... but video editing is much more fun... I'll tell her I've lost the paint brush
Bonjour MB, Merci pour tous vos tutos sur shotcut mais pourquoi je ne trouve pas Glaxnimate dans le filtre Alpha channel adjust dans la version V.22.04.25
Then you'd have to use keyframes in Glaxnimate to make your mask follow the shape of the region you are masking. I think it is called rotoscoping. You can see an example of this in one of Ben Espanto's tutorial: ua-cam.com/video/p72VQ7kNDeg/v-deo.html
@@musicalboxbitspieces Thank you for the fast response. I also had the idea in mind to use a single video track only for erasing things and use a png image with black/transparent mix up at the wanted position.

What on earth is Happening to AppImage format, that now none of the newer ones work on Ubuntu 16.04. 18.04....even though all newest SNAPS and FLATPAKS work? its a sudden requirment for some GLIBC 2.28 0r 2.29 issue, making AppImage no Longer "Universal" Please STOP the Requirement of this Lib. and it also asks for : libFLAC.so.8. either include this into the AppImage or revert back to whatever Ubuntu 16.04 or 18.04 use. @@musicalboxbitspieces Both of them appear to be flawed. Shotcut crashes on my Linux system regularly and somewhat predictably. And Glaxnimate is extremely complicated for what it does. It too is not very intuitive and it seems somewhat difficult to integrate with Shotcut (it also crashes from time to time when I'm working with the two programs). I remember using earlier versions of Premiere Pro, Avid, a program called Media100 and others that were very complicated, unstable and not intuitive. But that was in the early days of NLEs. We're decades beyond that era now and these programs seem to have failed to keep up with the times. They are simply no better, no more intuitive, and no more stable than their "predecessors" from 20 years ago.
@@pauljacobus1066 Weird. I'm on Window 10 and it's been months, even years since Shotcut crashed on me. Glaxinimate crashed occasionally at first, but the last couple of updates are quite stable. As with any software I use for the first time, I didn't find it (Glaxnimate) very intuitive, but it didn't take very long to become more familiar with it. It's not perfect of course. A lot of tools are still missing. But it is still a young program and it will get better. And keep in mind that there is not a big team of programmer working on it. Just a couple of guys doing it in their free time. Same with Shotcut. 2 developers and a couple of contributors.
@@musicalboxbitspieces I will say, Shotcut has crashed on me a few times, even like twice per project. Doesn't help that I animated a Mask filter with like 200+ keyframes. Lagged quite a bit, crashed twice when creating a new keyframe, but at least I saved before it crashed both times.
@@jmvr I've heard about many other users experiencing crashes, but for most people, including me, Shotcut runs reliably. But my computer seems to have trouble handling KdenLive (even recent versions), while it works perfectly well for most users. So go figure :-)
I'm a shotcut fan and support the project, but seeing masking by freehand shapes implemented outside of shotcut hurts my heart. And I hope they don't call it rotoscoping because it's not rotoscoping. I don't know if it allows moving the mask because I see a timeline below. People will have to learn to use another software, with another way of doing things, having to learn a new timeline and generally this kind of integration between solutions causes a lot of problems in the future. Wow, all editors that have this tool implement right from their own view, within their timeline and within their own flow, not requiring that other things have to be learned to do a simple masking in free form... Kdenlive is a great example, it even allows rotoscoping, is it basic? yes, it's basic but it's rotoscoping. I was sad, really, and I will probably continue to use this type of masking in other video editing software. To make specific animations in 2D I understand, but masking outside the video editing software made me really sad, really. Sorry for the rant!
I agree that this isn't very practical to work on two apps at the same time. But I bet that after a while I will get used to it and learn ways to work with it efficiently.
This is really gonna make shotcut on a whole other level

about damn time, you'd think a custom shape filter would have been a standard addition. it's a shame there's an outside program to do it though.

Isn't it easier to use a PNG with transparency that you can cut precisely in any photo editor ?
