Great build review guys. I love the big dollar chopped 200/300 build vids but this one is probably more relevant to 99% of Aussies and 80% of your followers. Keep them up 👍🏻
Great vid mate, I've been in and out of several utes over the years, Ranger, Hilux, V6 Amarok (2018) and now a Dmax, hands down the best driver was the Amarok, weighed in at 3.3ton full of plumbing gear and I frequently towed a 2t excavator, was tuned to 240kw 730nm, 150000 problem free kilometres, the worst was the Ranger and Gaylux, both had DPF issues and electrical gremlins
Crazy to think the market is large enough for mobs like you to be able to make a living installing equipment in utes. Good on you for going after those consumers. Personally not my cup of tea handing over $ for someone to "build" my vehicle but I understand time is money and some people are clueless. Thanks for sharing
The information you've provided at 1:30-1:58 is incorrect. The standard GVM is 3100kg, GCM is 6000kg. You CANNOT tow 3500kg with the DMax if it is fully loaded, you can only tow 2900kg. (6000kg GCM minus 3100kg GVM - 2900kg) To tow the maximum 3500kg towing capacity the car would need to weigh 2500kg, 600kg LESS than it's standard GVM. In your example, with the new GVM of 3500kg (if you were to load the car to GVM), you are left with 2500kg to tow before hitting your GCM. NOT 3000kg Your build at 2960kg leaves you 3040kg within your GCM. And I'm assuming that's not factoring in passengers and beer still to go into the car...
hey mate - what you have said is pretty well exactly what we've spoken about. Lovells GVM is 3600kg with GCM of 6200kg. The car weighs 2960 with no one in it leaving 3240kg towing. We explain it's a compromise, load the car more - tow less. At full GVM you can tow 2600kg. Some models with the Lovells upgrade maintain the full towing capacity, albeit we feel illegally as there is no strengthening to axle.
Sorry mate, the figures you've used as an example, and therefore the advice you've given, is/are incorrect. 1:31 "Whatever you upgrade your GVM by, comes off your braked tow" 1:52 "You can essentially carry 3.5T on here now (indicating to vehicle) but you can now then only tow 3T" These are just two things you've said that are factually incorrect and misleading. We must do better as a community to ensure the information provided is correct. Especially from a business to a client base.
You’re a laugh mate seriously. Come down to our office and book an appointment where we might be able to educate you on how GVM, BTC’s and Combinational masses actually work. Please do not troll our account simply because you don’t understand. The information we are spoken about is not specific to that dmax . It’s generalising. ‘Brand and kit depending’ most increased GVM amounts come off your BTC. ‘Some’ lovells , JMACX kits etc increase both.
And yet your "generalising" is wrong and misleading. I'd be happy to drop in, but I charge by the hour. And it looks like we'll need a few hours to bring you up to speed judging by the misinformation you've presented in this video alone. Have a good day.
It’s called over capital investment and you end up with a 4 cyl Ute that is gutless ,with all that weight added to the Ute and then a 2.5 t van the dmax would be working hard to go up a hill or into a head wind waste of money Hilux is the same Sponsored by dmax by the would of this

Cheers mate . I think we’ll be seeing a lot more of these utes in the coming years

Cheers for the feedback mate - we don't often get requests for Amarok's! Would love to test drive the new model though..

Good info mate! Can you fit an upright fridge in this setup and for the Hilux & Ranger? 👍
Cheers mate yes you sure can
Why not offer and go for a pre rego gvm gcm upgrade such as a lovells and bring it b up to 3600/6900
Still allows for around 3.3t towing
Love the build guys
What rim offset is it running?
And did you put a long range fuel tank in it?
Hey mate no long range fuel in this one and the offset is +12 I’m pretty sure
Thanks mate 👍🏼
