When I was a kid, I'd see these commercials with this old blind black guy playing the piano, gorgeous girls crawling all over him, drinking a diet pepsi and all I could think of was, "That has to be the coolest guy who ever lived." I've been a diet pepsi drinker ever since.
I'm 36 years old & the phrase🎶 "you got the right one baby"🎶 has lived in my head since I was 4 years old and even still now. & I find myself randomly saying it when it fits with certain situations 😆. R.i.p. Ray Charles💯
That's what my whole comment was just about 🤣 lived rent free, pulled it out of the recesses of my mind just 5 minutes before I looked this up like it's '91 all over again.
These ads & the song was so popular around that time. Remember that episode of The Cosby Show where Raven Symone's character, Olivia, is helping Bill Cosby's character (Cliff) fix the kitchen sink? He asks for a screwdriver & when she hands it to him, she breaks out in the jingle "You got the right one baby" to which Cliff responds, "Uh huh" Just one of a few nods to Ray Charles in the series. The other being the use of "It's Not Easy Being Green" in an episode where Rudy wants to wear a dress to a party, but Clair won't let her Ray Charles was the culture. RIP 🐐
The first commercial is the one I remember the most from when I was only six around late 1991/early 1992. It was the hottest commercial at the time, and my step dad always loved it, too. Back then, the KFC in Fredericksburg, VA (near the Rappahannock) even had one of those Pepsi cans stuck around the top corner of the door at the entrance, and it played the "Uh Huh" song every time you walked in. I remember my step dad laughing and thinking it was the coolest thing when we first saw it. :)
Well damn, thanks for bringing the flashback smile to my face. This and the Cali Raisins commercials kept me amused for hours as a precocious 11 years old.
The fun fact is that Pepsi promoted this like a "young add" but my parents and my Grandparents enjoyed Ray Charles in the 60's and 70's. Anyways, I still loving the classical Jazz of Ray Charles.
So weird seeing this at 11, not seeing it at 12, then seeing it parodied by Animaniacs at 13 but thinking "why are they spoofing that old commercial??" Now in my 40s, I see a commercial from age 38 and still think it came out yesterday.
I guess when I drink Diet Pepsi, I'll remember that I have the right one, baby. Ray Charles was a very gifted pianist! Especially, because he could play in blindly. Yes, I know that was his condition.
Incredible commercial campaign!!! .... but Diet Pepsi always made my stomach hurt. ...truly! If I drank Diet Pepsi that day, I was sure to have heartburn/stomach ache at night. Coke or any other soda was okay. Something in Diet Pepsi that wrecked me. So with Diet Pepsi, I did NOT have the right one, baby.
This song just popped in my head… snippets of the chorus that i.e. … the choir part and the monks😂😍 I haven’t heard this since I was a kid in the 90s!….@2:00 was HILARIOUS 😳😂😂
It had to have caught on, over 30 years later and it popped in my head like I'm 3 1/2 again when it first came out 😂 I just sent a gif of it to my cousin because of something she said. And they fa sho got the right one baby, uh huh, when it comes to this cousin about her kids 🤣🤣
Yes!!! Well said Dante....Prince wrote the whole song and gave it the to Ray Charles. No one knew. Prince refused commercialism (personally), however this one gave it to Ray. May you live to see the Dawn. Love4oneanother. Phil 4:13, Jer 29:11, John 3:16
I love diz commercial..i juz can't git da ending..lol..if itz irresistible..an then he sayz other linez afta dat...an endz it with U got da right one baby...UH HUH..LOL
I keep giving Diet Pepsi a shot, it’s used to subpar next to Diet Coke, but a couple years ago Diet Coke switched up the recipe so i can only drink the zeroes
Yes!!! Well said Dante ....Prince wrote the whole song and gave it the to Ray Charles. No one knew. Prince refused commercialism (personally), however this one gave it to Ray. @+>
Really?!? I’m a huge, huge Prince fan and I didn’t know this! Was just thinking about these commercials from my childhood and looked it up. Love Ray Charles and this song!
Yes!!! Loved Jerry Lewis, Vic Damone, Bo Jackson (I think), and whoever that rocker was before Vic lol. Yet and still, Ray's got the right one, baby! RIP Ray, Jerry & Vic.
OMG hanhaha I so remember this I forgot about it until yesterday it came up and I was like OMG that's so familiar! This got stuck in everyone's head back then! My mom used to sing it to me when I tried to dance as a little girl
I’m getting old because I remember these commercials so well as a kid.

You do realize that's how they get you, right? 😏

So iconic! I definitely remember these commercials from my childhood.
We have a home video from 1991 with 7 year old me running around and singing this jingle lol!
Prince's version of Uh Huh is dope!

Oh my goodness, this instantly takes me back to being 9 years old.
Well damn, thanks for bringing the flashback smile to my face. This and the Cali Raisins commercials kept me amused for hours as a precocious 11 years old.
Song written by Prince.
Go Ray ! ! ! ! I miss this!!!
I was 6 or 7 when this came out. I love my life in the 90’s!!!!
Loved these commercials by Ray Charles
I was born in 1987. This is probably one of the first commercials I can remember seeing as a little kid.
The fun fact is that Pepsi promoted this like a "young add" but my parents and my Grandparents enjoyed Ray Charles in the 60's and 70's.
Anyways, I still loving the classical Jazz of Ray Charles.
Shout out to Jamie French and the buttercream gang .
I really miss when RAY CHARLES😎 did the Pepsi commercials!
I'm a fan of Diet Pepsi in the '90s with Ray Charles! No wonder he's quite the best legend.
Yeaaaaahhh, uh huh you got the right one baby❤
I don't know why..... but my respect for Ray Charles just got higher.......

the coolest commercial ever. man this takes me back to my childhood. the 90s were best.
The rock version had me dying! XD
I am 36, and have not seen this in 20+ years. But today I realized that was Ray Charles and NOT Bill Cosby. You learn something new every day.
Thank you! Love it all! Commercial nostalgia at its best with this Ray Charles montage of, “You got the right one,” Diet Pepsi! 👍🏾
Lol I remember this commerical
I guess when I drink Diet Pepsi, I'll remember that I have the right one, baby. Ray Charles was a very gifted pianist! Especially, because he could play in blindly. Yes, I know that was his condition.
yep, still love this at age 29
I just watched Rookie of the Year with my nephew. This was a part of my childhood and I'm glad that it'll be part of his.
My favorite Ray Charles song
Banks it the right one, baby. UH-HUNH!!
A classic ass commercial. Love it😄😄😄😄
Song was stuck in my head for like a week! 🤣🤣
2020 someone?

Incredible commercial campaign!!! .... but Diet Pepsi always made my stomach hurt. ...truly! If I drank Diet Pepsi that day, I was sure to have heartburn/stomach ache at night. I remember this commercial
Born 1995 and feeling good educating myself on the not-so-distant past; although, times are really troubling right now.
I just found out that Ray Charles started out endorsing Coca-Cola back in the day! Haha, I wonder if they were pissed when he made the switch?
"...Because pizza goes great with fries!"
It’s all about contracts and it doesn’t matter once they expire. Celebrities aren’t subjected to one brand name forever
I remember this
This should’ve been in the movie I swear
Uh huh 😎
Great Ray Charles 🙏🏿
I seen a crystal clear pepsi on Facebook and immediately ray Charles popped in my head for diet pepsi
R.I.P. Ray Charles! I remember diz commercial tho.
This song just popped in my head… snippets of the chorus that i.e. … the choir part and the monks😂😍 I haven’t heard this since I was a kid in the 90s!….@2:00 was HILARIOUS 😳😂😂

The first commercial I ever remember. I must have been 3 years old.
At no point in history has this many people EVER gotten together to celebrate Diet Pepsi.
Fresh Prince brought me here LOLLL
'Banks is the RIGHT ONE BAYBAY!' 😂😂😂
It had to have caught on, over 30 years later and it popped in my head like I'm 3 1/2 again when it first came out 😂 I just sent a gif of it to my cousin because of something she said. And they fa sho got the right one baby, uh huh, when it comes to this cousin about her kids 🤣🤣
I only saw the original...the follow-ups I did not. That last was FIRE FUNNY!😄😄😄
Yes!!! Well said Dante....Prince wrote the whole song and gave it the to Ray Charles. No one knew. Prince refused commercialism (personally), however this one gave it to Ray. May you live to see the Dawn. Love4oneanother. Phil 4:13, Jer 29:11, John 3:16
The Buttercream Gang brought me here
Jake S Same dude
RAY ES LO MAXIMO!!
I use to sing this with my grandpa I love you
Anyone remember the Pepsi can that sang this song when you opened the cooler at the store?
I have one and it works.
Makes me want to get a Pepsi with Ray Charles.
I liked the first ad, the next two were just like 'meh', even a little insensitive to racial/cultural representations. But I know, different era.
That first commercial is everything. Uh huh.
definitivamente de las mejores voces de la historia,
😂😂😂😂 I just sung this to my son about some software we had installed the one now, WE GOT THE RIGHT ONE BAYBAAAY! 😂😂😂
Completely remember these commercials. Including the one with him and Joe Montana.
They spared no expense with this commercial campaign.
I got a Diet Pepsi tonight while making a Wawa Run - I automatically thought of Ray Charles! I thought of him going Diet Pepsi Uh-Huh!
Yeah love this one uh huh it was when I was in high School McCallum
Infinitely blissful spiritually wonderful....that's a hell of a drink!!! 😁 (also, awesome tiny tim cameo)
This has to be the most memorable diet soda commercial slogan in history. "You got the right one baby! Uh huh!!"
Does anybody know the name of the rock band at 2:03? Been looking for the answer since this add came out. I'm ooooold.
My childhood i loved this commercial when i was little i miss Ray Charles

You're right. It is Bo Jackson.
Who's here after watching The Buttercream Gang?
God this brings back memories
I came here cause I had a coworker drinking a diet pepsi and it reminded me of this lol
I wonder if the 3 girls with him in that one scene, "let" Ray. That's how you become a Raylette..
I bet they're like 50 now
Popped in my head
Absolutely .
JUST THE MASTER RAY DID IT!
Can you imagine how expensive this commercial must've been to make, hiring Ray and all those dancers/performers?
OMG hanhaha I so remember this I forgot about it until yesterday it came up and I was like OMG that's so familiar! This got stuck in everyone's head back then! My mom used to sing it to me when I tried to dance as a little girl
