Oh, I started my motor after following all your videos and my motor turned over very slow, so I am rebuilding my starter now after I have already checked spark and timing. I just wanted to thank you for your help!!!
very similar to my force 50 im rebuilding. my brushes were toast. the brush holder was broken. I broke off one of the negative brush bolts that screw into cap. I ordered an entire end cap with brush kit installed. be here tomorrow.
You left out some of the good parts like getting those brushes spread as you're putting it together, then lining up those long screws and "feeling" them into place. But you have a good video there to get someone started.
I have a 1970 115 hp. Been watching ya for years. Thanks for the vids. They have been a awesome help to me. Are you AKA Eric the car guy? Thanks for all ya do!
It says strike with object, my grandfather has a merc and his Starter says strike with object. It’s for when if it doesn’t engage, you hit it and it will work.
The bendix//starter motor pinion geat is supposed to get light oil - sae10w per my shop manual. WD40 is OK for now, but I would follow it up with light oil. Heat wave here is supposed to be a bit better tomorrow here. MH
I got same outboard ande have brand new deep cycle battery on it, when put the key to start just hear kick sound and I think the solenoid relay is working but the starter wouldn't turn, and I directly apply the power to the starter it turning counter clockwise, It is same relay is not work or what?
I ended up just buying a new starter for a great price on ebay. If you need the link, let me know what motor you have and I'll see if they have em. I think they are $60 shipped with a warranty.

Lol, no I'm not Eric the car guy. But I do follow him and his channel.
You are correct! I am having thoughts of building one to fit the 40 so maybe I should start with putting a hitch on the Outback!?
Those bushes absolutly suck to get back in and the rotor

I thought I was going to have to make two metal plates and screw it to the base in order to hold the brushes down, I like your design better.
Def a little cheaper, but some nice "metal spreaders" notched out would do the trick too.
I clean everything with brake cleaner and light sand all the connects
thanks man helped a lot
those brushes have been replaced .. that was a chunk of a old brush.

Steveckw w check all wiring connections. Remove, sand, and reattach. Then relay or switch.
Thanks

How do people make these videos&try to act like they know what thier doing when they don't. C razy
Did I say anything in particular? Nope. Its just a teardown video.
Why do people comment when they have nothing productive to say? C razy
