      Man! You have given me a gift in knowing that. Do you like what you built?

    I have just finished my built yesterday successfully and without a lot of stress - it was even enjoyable. And it's all thanks to your instructions!
    I just had to look up, what a screw down crown is, because I thought I had messed up the installation of the crown stem, as I have to unscrew the crown to set the time.
    In a few forums and videos it was said to use a thick lubricant like 9501 / 9504 or molycote dx on the crown stem.

      @spaekplugbarrens congratulations 🥂! Building your own watch comes with exclusive bragging rights! I’m glad you figured your way through the screw-down-crown conundrum. You’re right about the thicker viscosity lubricant. It’s a high friction, high torque interface. Send me some photos via chat on my IG channel Ros_Bou21

    The movement holder is perhaps the most important part. Why is it not included in the set? I understand the holder is size specific, but why can't it be a specified item (you choose upon purchase)?

      Hi TH. I will pass your thoughts on to Namoki. Yes, an ‘optional extra’ at checkout is a good idea. There is only one movement holder size for all NH Seiko movements. Hi Gracy. I used some moebius oil purchased off of AliExpress. Here is the link: s.click.aliexpress.com/e/_ExdWAFv

    Hi is it still possible to build a watch using items purely provided by the diy kit from namoki? I notice all of the video's i've found on youtube use a movement holder which namoki doesn't include in the kit

    • @watchmebuildit
      @watchmebuildit  2 роки тому +1

      Hi Jose. You are correct - the movement holder is advised and I have asked Namoki if they can add this as an option. They are well worth the investment though. www.namokimods.com/products/nh-movement-holder-stainless-steel?ref=SXouSdvQXTfmd

      I used moebius watch makers oil available on AliExpress

      Thank you! So that's just any moebius watch makers oil or a certain viscosity or type? :)

      So the one I bought was this tube of Moebius 8000. I’m not certain that it’s the perfect viscosity for this application, but it’s better than a dry interface. Just found this amazing item on AliExpress. Check it out! €5.99 | Swiss Original Moebius 8000 Oil Special Watch Oil Professional Oil Watch Repair Tools for Watchmakers

    How would you remove the clockwork from the case if you had not aligned the 3 o'clock mark with the wind?

    • @watchmebuildit
      @watchmebuildit  Рік тому +1

      If you look on the grey shroud that surrounds the movement (the plastic one) you will see thin horizontal slots at certain intervals. If you slip a screw driver into one of these slots you can lift the movement out easily

    do you think this watchmaking kit is good enough to build other watches with? any recommendations for a beginner watchmaking kit? im not interested in the watch but the kit itself just not sure where to start

    • @watchmebuildit
      @watchmebuildit  Рік тому

      Hello Eddie. Thank you for the heartfelt questions. Yes, this toolkit is very well considered and contains a great deal of what you need for a simple build. As far as I can tell, Namoki only sell the tools as part of a DIY watch kit (I don’t know if they sell them separately).
      From among the DIY watch kits, I would highly recommend their new 36mm Oyster case and bracelet set. www.namokimods.com/products/nmk-wk08-diy-watchmaking-kit-perpetual-dress?ref=SXouSdvQXTfmd
      If you don’t like any of the dials you can order any of their dials and it will fit this case.
      There are a few extra tools you will need that don’t come with their kit. They are:
      Magnifying glass - www.namokimods.com/en-eu/products/bergeon-2611-tn-watchmaker-loupe-with-opening?ref=SXouSdvQXTfmd
      Movement holder - www.namokimods.com/en-eu/products/nh-movement-holder-stainless-steel?ref=SXouSdvQXTfmd
      Case cushion - www.namokimods.com/en-eu/products/bergeon-5395-55-soft-gel-watch-case-casing-cushion?ref=SXouSdvQXTfmd
      Gasket lubricator - www.namokimods.com/en-eu/products/bergeon-7055-lubri-gaskets-with-silicone-grease?ref=SXouSdvQXTfmd
      If you have a bit of time to spare, I will be doing a review of the DIY watch club toolset before the end of Feb. It looks like a good kit. It includes the magnifying glass, but also needs the movement holder, movement cushion and gasket lubricator to be bought separately. shop.diywatch.club/products/diy-watch-club-card-board-watchmaking-tools-box?ref=Zlvu2gIN8PRtu-&

    A good video, but Namoki instructions completely inadequate. My second hand does not work sadly, could be a broken centre pin? The watches look nice though.

    • @watchmebuildit
      @watchmebuildit  Рік тому +1

      Hi Paul. I was hoping to augment Namoki’s instructions by making these videos. I’m sorry about the second hand not working. There are a few possible causes. The first is a broken second pinion. If this is the case you won’t be able to place the second hand at all. The second possible cause is that the tube of the second hand may be wedged between the second pinion and the collar on the minute hand. If this is the case you should be able to remove and re-install the second hand.
      A third possibility is that you may have pushed the second Jane into position too hard and disengaged the second gear from the gear train. If it is reason 1 or 3 you would need a new NH35 movement. You can get them on AliExpress for far less than At Namoki. Let me know if you have any more questions.

      @@watchmebuildit thanks for your help. I watched this video and bought a loupe (ua-cam.com/video/52oz1bgpLtA/v-deo.html) The centre pin was actually ok. I did find using a hand removal tool allowed me to apply more gentle and targeted pressure to the second hand, though I did scratch the dial. It is a very delicate step and perhaps more videos can highlight just how easy it is for this step to go wrong! Thanks again for your help and the great videos.
