      Other than perhaps your friends nobody would buy a homemade watch. Buying and assembling random pieces and parts made by whomever is not a custom made watch, it is a pieced together homemade watch. Great thing to do for yourself, not great for a business endeavor imo.

      No worries Tom, I couldn’t find a dial I liked with a date window but might change the dial in future so left the date parts in there.

For example if you’re using the SW200/2824 movement and want a case just search “eta 2824 watch case” and many options will be listed.

    I have a question.
    I recently purchased a watch with a Sellita sw200 movement.
    When I wind it,it sounds like something drags on the inside and after ,I hear the tipical tic tic you would hear when winding a watch.
    So ,first it drags,and after,you hear tic tic.,is this normal?
    I am aware whith the winding issue with the Sellita sw200.
    I just want to know if this is normal.
    I have a Seamaster chronometer chronograph,caliber 1128.
    I also have a deep blue watch diver 1000 gen 2 .
    Both of these only make the tic tic noise when winding ,nothing drags.
    Just want to know if the dragging is normal for a Sellita sw 200.

      I believe the CR5110 is the tag Heuer caliber 36 movement which is based on the Zenith El Primero 400 movement.
      To be honest the easier place to get the parts is eBay and they give you reference to the case or movement you’re using. Also if they give you the option to put in an offer I find the sellers often take less than listed price.

    A great and informative video. I’m a novice to watch assembly. How much does it cost to buy the necessary equipment, apart from the watch parts?

      A full set of good watch making tools is far from being inexpensive, but they are entirely necessary to have. I tried several cheaper brands and all of them sucked. You need good tools, good watch making tools are spendy. A set of 9 Bergeon screwdrivers, which is barely a start toward all you need, is about $150.

    If you have sw200 movement adapter (metalllic ring between caseback and movement) would it be something to install still on top of the clamps, or are clamps enough? (Then again, what is the adapter for?)

    • @charlie-obrien
      @charlie-obrien 2 роки тому

      The adapter holds the movement in place, inside of the case.

    So if I am building with a 44mm case, the face should be 33mm? I am basing this off of what parts you used.

      The dial diameter should be specified by the seller of the case. Cases of the same size can take different sizes dials.

    Did you sawed off the end tip of the stem (goes into the mvmt) or the tip that goes into the crown?

    • @timebanditwatches3249
      @timebanditwatches3249  3 роки тому +2

      If you need to shorten the stem you’ll need to remove material from the treaded side of the stem, this is the end that screws into the crown.

    How can one make sure the movement they buy off eBay is genuine? ETA or Sellita

    How much did this cost you in total?

    • @timebanditwatches3249
      @timebanditwatches3249  3 роки тому

      With the COSC sw-200 movement it was around £300 in total but if you use a seagull movement you’d be around £100.

    Would a Sellita sw 2400 movement cost in the 150$ us be approximately what a respectable movement cost? I don't want to waste money on a bad one. Thinking of doing this as a gift.

      You should be able to get an SW200 or eta 2824 from about £150, the one in this video was a chronometer certified movement and came to just over £200. Both good reliable versions.
