    • @watchmebuildit

      The NH38 has no date complication and this dial has a date window. Apparently this dial is a little thicker than others, therefore it is beyond tolerance.

      Hey there Lee. Truth be told, I was really IMPRESSED at how well this case wears. With the flat sapphire, it’s only 13mm thick. The bracelet is also very wearable with 20mm - 16mm dimensions. But your point is valid, kinda like the new ‘Mini’ vs. the original or the new Fiat 500 vs. The original - all of our modern requirements have swelled the size for sure.

    I’m usually not fan of Chinese brand names but Seestar fits and looks so well on a diver. The only thing I would critique is the bracelet, it’s just too thick at the clasp area. If it would only taper down from 20mm to 16mm.

    • @watchmebuildit
      @watchmebuildit 17 днів тому

      Hi @adamw7411 - you are right, certain Chinese brands are investing heavily where it counts. Apparently Seestern is ‘Starfish’ in German - which makes sense! If 2mm on the bracelet at the clasp is your greatest concern, then I’d say they’ve done really well

      Sheesh! What a question. I’ve reached out to two guys on IG this far. Depthcharge Time was a disaster and I wouldn’t even try. Seikonda Custom Dial has been helpful, but he’s recovering from a family crisis and a little overloaded at the moment. He may well be able to help in the future. One guy that seems to have his stuff stitched together well is Koda Watches. I’ve never dealt with him, but he may be worth asking. In future if you encounter that problem, squirt a little Q20 onto the link and leave it for 10 minutes before trying again. ua-cam.com/video/LL8fVQIQ8ZQ/v-deo.htmlsi=zSMz5fG66qX2TJ8P

    Your mods look great! Its strange that this comes with a mineral crystal the specs on their website say the following: Crystal: "Acrylite 8N specialty vintage high-dome acrylic" Depending on how the crystal is mounted I have had great success replacing sapphire crystals with Sternkreuz accrylics (ATCT) while maintaining WR for that acrylic vibe. Don't look down on 100m WR dive watches, in the early days Cousteau and all the SCUBA pioneers used watches with 100m or less and non-click bezels (except for BP who started the unidirectional thing. In fact the ISO standards came in around the mid Nineties, well past the heyday of dive watches as essential bottom timing tools so mostly the ISO certification ironically had zero impact on any watches acually used for that purpose.

    • @watchmebuildit
      @watchmebuildit 2 місяці тому

      @Leec - a super helpful post. Thank you. I may have misunderstood the composition of the crystal. If it is acrylic I should be able to buff out any minor scratches. If that is the case, I owe DWC an apology! Thank you too for your insight regarding specification on WR. You are absolutely on the money, for the purposes of most mortals 100m is more than enough.

    Are the dial markers that green normally or are the studio lights just setting off the green lume? Cool builds 👍 My favourite sub case shape. I like the milsub sub look too.

      I tweaked the colour settings on the video for better ‘pop’ but that did upscale the green. It is a great case though. Check out the unboxing video, I think that gives a better look at the colour of the dial

    I've bent 2 seconds hands because I used the wrong press. It never occurred to me to use a totally flat press. I thank you so much for your commentary regarding this step. So many other build videos skip over this step or just gloss over it with no real information.

      Cheers Dad 😉. You are correct about the tools. They do offer a ‘no tools’ option on most of their kits which drops the price for repeat offenders. This new ‘standard’ kit is astonishingly well packaged and thought through.

    I saw on seestern website that they have the version 4 of this watch, so what will happen to the version 3 on aliexpress? Will it be replaced any soon and will the price increase? I really wanted to get a hand on this watch, but I got a wrist size of 6 inches so the watch size concern me a little bit.

    • @watchmebuildit

      I’m not certain what the V4 upgrade will be. This one is the V3 that you see on AliExpress and I think it’s outstanding. This watch is actually People ferfect for 6 inch wrist because it’s only 38mm diameter.

    I just finished assembling my first watch build and I’m quite happy with the results. The seconds hand was a little tricky, but I got it on in under 5 minutes with no issues. It helps getting the second hand on right at eye level. The date switches right at midnight, not a minute earlier or later, which I’m ecstatic about as well.

      Hey Tom. I understand. A tension Im facing is the gap between my viewers who like to ‘watch’ and those who are watching to learn. So this video isn’t designed as a tutorial (the last one where I modified the movement holder IS designed as a tutorial). This one is a ‘watch and enjoy’ kinda gig. What I’m hoping to do is create playlists with short segments on each and every activity that people can navigate through for a step-by-step experience.
