Seed bombs? Great minds think alike! I like to load up my belt-fed 50 caliber jeep-mounted machine gun with hollow point bullets and pack the hollow end of the bullets with various seeds (apple seeds = favorite). Then I have my driver race at high speeds through urban neighborhoods while I go on a crazed planting spree, screaming, "I'm Johnny Appleseed!" When I run out of ammo, I start chucking seed grenades, which are like regular grenades only with seeds glued all over the outside. Then I park outside of town and start laying down seed mortar fire. I'm fighting for a greener planet.
@@ignacioalonso4565 Some seeds needs to be on the outerside to actually sprout. Sprouting earlier than wanted is because they failed to squeeze out enough of the water and they also didn't dry out quickly enough.
Super cute idea! I love that you're doing this with your son (just noticed this vid is 7 years old!!!!) Kid craft projects that adults can enjoy too are the best!! :) Perfect activity while we're all waiting for the snow to melt and the vaccine to be distributed...
Try Alcea rosea. or Antirrhinum majus. It grows every where, huge results and beautiful flowers! Got a lot of seeds if you want some. By the way, sorry for my bad english! From France,
Has anyone tried throwing these bombs yet? Great idea and super cute, wondering if it works. I received some paper that was supposed to sprout but it didn't work. My 8yr old was definitely disappointed, so was I.
So long as the seed bombs dry completely after you make them they won't begin to germinate. Make sure that the seeds are not sitting in the wet pulp mixture for a long period of time, form them into balls immediately after adding the seeds to the pulp. Then put them in a ventilated area to dry. I threw my seed bombs into the field behind my house and they worked beautifully. A couple of things to keep in mind, make sure you are using good quality seeds (this is important!), make sure they are planted in an area that gets an ample amount of sun, make sure they get water. Thank you for watching!
Can I make bomb with cocopeat I can get it cheaper then soil I am using newspaper for bombs and I use only big tree seeds (ok ok huge trees) 8kg paper at $1 and cocopeat for $2.50 20kg ?
LOL! His name is Seth. Woofy is his nickname! When he was born his older brother couldn't pronounce his name and started calling him Woofy (we don't know why!). He goes by Woofy at home and Seth at school!
Your mixture was too wet. Seeds germinate because of moisture and light. You probably didn't squeeze out enough water and they didn't dry quickly enough.
Is there any merit to the statement that the ink from paper can be toxic to plants? Probably not, and I don't know very much about seedlings... I thought this would be a really fun thing to make and sell so I can raise funds to volunteer in the Peruvian Amazon!
I can't say for everywhere but where I live the ink isn't anywhere near as bad as they used to be. That said they're still not food grade. It's impossible to really verify if something is 'safe', so if it's an issue then I'd suggest just using clay and soil. This isn't for OP of a seven year old comment but future readers.
Hey :) I want to do that for my wedding but wedding isn’t until 2 months. If I do them now, will they start growing or just after they get wet again and land in the soil.
Francisca Morel Seed bombs are considered a technique of introducing flowers or plants to land by throwing or dropping them into soil so that they can grow. The seed bomb is made with recycled paper to protect the seeds and keep them moist while they begin to grow. Simply throw your seed bomb on some dirt and then wait. Make sure that your seeds get sunlight and water. Thank you for watching. Hope this helps!
Also seeds contain a lot of nutrients anyway to jump start the growth! they'd sprout in the paper once water's introduced but would only grow to a certain size before soil is needed :) I realise this is an old comment, just commenting for the people scrolling past!

lol there are parts where the kid looks so bored. Being that this video was uploaded 9 years ago, I do wonder if such seed bomb making activities rubbed off on them to make them a gardener?
WHY PUT THE SEEDS IN WET PAPER THEY WILL START TO GERMINATE WITH THE WATER! JUST RAP THE WATER LOG SCREDED PAPER WITH A NEW DIAPER ADD THE SEEDS IN DIAPER WITH PULVERISDE EGG SHELL FOR THURTERLIZER!
i don't have sand clay and compost handy, but I do have old coloured card easily available! so this way works much better for me! Can also make lots of different coloured seed bombs too!

I sure do hope you are joking, because the blast will obviously destroy the seeds. Use rockets, much better.
This is the best comment I’ve ever read
my fiance and I are making these for our wedding. thank you for the video.
Sounds awesome! How’d they turn out?
You just gave me a giveaway idea.
Time to vandalize giant empty fields
😀😃😄😍😝😝😘😘😘😍
do a golf field
can I make these with weed seeds and send gifts into the neighbors yard?
Mabye, give it a try. And tell my if it worked.
Brent Sido lol
Most fuckingdefinitely
🤣🤣🤣
no such thing as a weed! weeds are only plants that aren't wanted where they are
Great idea. Seems better than the clay bombs. Thank you, I'll try it with native seed to use in degrades areas.
Why better than clay?
Love these--made a bunch for gift bags BUT they've started to sprout !!!
The seeds shoud be inside of the balls i think

Don't wait too long to cast your bombs

From France,
David Logat your English is really good, David. Cheers!
Also don't forget to research your local wildlife and plants to make sure to not introduce foreign or invasive species into the enviroment
Use seeds native to your area!
Very good demo! I wonder if pressing the mixture into a cookie cutter would be sufficient?

Thanks! It looks so wonderful and simple 😍
Clay and compost works very well
Very nice idea!! But I wonder does it leave visible bits of paper after the seeds sprouted?
It is compost.
Damn this is so bombastic idea!
wow thats a nice video.good job
Thanku for make this video
Seeds actually have their basic nutrient package with them. That´s why sprouts are superfood.
No compost or clay?
How do you plant the paper seed bomb?
I heard that paper seed bombs don't work because they germinate when they are placed into the wet pulp. Is this true? Did your seed bombs work?

You bet! Happy crafting!
+Emilie Lefler How long can the seed balls be stored after the initial drying?
+Daniel Dynan I'd like to know this as well.
Hehe so cute

do you have to use silicone molds or can you use metal?
Did you name your kid woofie?
LOL! His name is Seth. Woofy is his nickname! When he was born his older brother couldn't pronounce his name and started calling him Woofy (we don't know why!). He goes by Woofy at home and Seth at school!
Does this work with any seeds??
Thanks for helping I was worried about my school project and now I got full marks
LOVE! 💚😍💙
I made these a few weeks ago and they've already started sprouting, any tips to prevent this?
Airtight bags or Tupperware

lil bro looks forced into it
Oh my goodness, your son is cracking me up!
Hey :) I want to do that for my wedding but wedding isn’t until 2 months. If I do them now, will they start growing or just after they get wet again and land in the soil.
If you make sure they're fully dry after you make them, you can keep them in a box like a Tupperware container and they'll keep for around 6months :)
do they explode
Yea they've been known to blow off a few arms.
I think I just found out why my grandma's cookies taste like crap.
Wow
suggestion: wet your paper before you put it in the blender, it will be way, way faster to shred
Or put water in first.
Will they really grow without soil? Then what did you do after?

HOW TO PLANT IT
Begs the question, do they work??
Yes
i can't wait to throw one of these into a pot and see who the winner is
You did't seem to let your son do much...you almost didn't need him as a special guest! BTW he looked really excited to be a part of this project.
Sub's D intro 😂😂
No one :your son: 👁👄👁

Guys. Always so enthusiastic about helping females out with their 'good for the earth' projects
Never mind this, just use sand, clay and compost w/ water. Roll the balls and your done.
Why recreate the wheel.
Maybe because someone wants to give them for gifts and giving people dirt balls isn't as pretty as these?
+Valerie Hartshorn shhhh....men are talking
and you can stop anytime
i don't have sand clay and compost handy, but I do have old coloured card easily available! so this way works much better for me! Can also make lots of different coloured seed bombs too!
John Booker this is way better amd prettier
aren't you damaging the seeds by squeezing them so hard?
Thanku for make this video
