I'm a retired speech/language pathologist who worked with stutterers (as well as other articulation, language, voice, hearing disorders , etc ) Joe Biden has done more to bring public awareness to the issue than any president, let alone person in this country. Stutterers are normal people who just happen to have a speech disorder that in most cases can be treated.....And to have a former president ridicule him for his speech is despicable, disgraceful and just plain wrong. I'll stand with the man who respects other people, believes in democracy and is a stutterer!! Biden 2024

I had a stutter for 30 years. Its nearly gone, this made me cry as did the video from 2020 where he speaks to another child who is having speech difficulty. This is a honourable man, a president to be proud of. We must re elect this gentle,kind, empathetic statesman who has given his life to the service of betterment of the United States. This is the type of kindness I would like to see all over our country. It is so much better to encourage a person, especially a child, than it is to make fun of anyone who might have a difficulty to overcome. After all, no one is perfect. We all struggle in our own ways. Why make the struggle harder for someone else? To build yourself up, by tearing someone else down?
I wish I could say that tactic doesn’t work. Unfortunately, it does work. It doesn’t take much to ruin someone’s life with an agenda and a big mouth. I would know. My former boss was the president of the TSHP. My dad passed away while this man was still president of that organization. My dad’s former boss asked me, at the reception after the funeral, how I liked working for my former boss? I could tell he was waiting for me to start bad mouthing him, but I am smarter than that. My dad taught me well how to deal with those situations. But, I had mentioned, to my clinical manager that I thought I had been blackballed. The comments at my dad’s funeral, for goodness sake (as if I wasn’t already feeling bad enough) and disappearing interviews, before I started working where I currently was. My experiences over the year and a half before I started the job I was in. The way my references came back poor, and job interviews disappeared an hour after I made the interview. One hour and suddenly “we have decided to go a different way”. My manager went to Dallas for a continuing education program. He came back and said, you don’t have to wonder, you have been blackballed.
It doesn’t take much, but how do you fight something you can’t prove? How do you stand up to a bully? That is where it is so vital to remember to be kind. You can disagree and still be kind. You can disagree without tearing the other person down and apart. I am so afraid a nation at peace is just a dream I have. If you can’t get one coworker to stop being a bully. When that same coworker attacks you and the boss lets them tear you down while you are not allowed to respond when you are required to meet to discuss the situation. When, after allowing the coworker to tear you down in front of him, your boss, at the end of the meeting, offers to leave you alone in a room together. When, after all that, you say something you can’t remember fully, but know you didn’t say part of what was reported. When you finally are told get happy or leave, and you choose to leave then are blackballed. How do you have hope?
I know this isn’t your problem and is completely a tangent off what I wanted to say. However, I needed to say it. So here it is. And, I’m sorry if I wasted your time.

I feel your pain. I went through a similar situation like you. I was at a job & was bullied by 2 co-workers for a number of years. The last 9 months at that job I was pregnant. I was treated even worse during my pregnancy there. The director was in on the bullying because he saw it & decided to ignore it & told me if I sent complaint to corporate nothing would be done on my behalf. He was going to make life harder for me. I left work to have my baby & as soon as I got home from hospital I called to resign. 2 weeks after my baby was born I handed my supervisor my resignation. We need President Biden because he will fight for our Freedoms, Rights & Democracy🇺🇸💙🇺🇸💙🇺🇸💙

As a child who stuttered, I needed to hear this, especially from someone who spoke in a job where they spoke publicly. It's great Joe is reaching out especially to young people who can do early prevention of stuttering with the right therapist.

Years ago I spoke with a colleague that stuttered. I made sure I spoke with him & encouraged him so he felt comfortable to speak with other colleagues. Singing helps. There's a country western singer (forgot his name), that shows how singing helped him. Hang in there & practice. v

In elementary school I stuttered. Dad bought a CB radio to which I spent hours talking to friends (1970s version of social media). Stutter started to go away. Fast forward, Jr. High, stutter had all but disappeared. High school was starting a FM radio station, KECG. I was among the first to be assigned a time slot. Fast forward, spent 35 years in public relations, and lead a local Toastmasters chapter for a while. Kinda amazing how many fortune 500 non stutter types I've met in need of techniques used by those who stutter to pace their speeches.
