Another great video Alex. I’ve been a Callaway fan since I used the original Big Bertha came out. Im still using the Callaway XR Speed. New drivers are simply out of my price range. Keep up the good work.
Cobra/Ping/Taylormade all have been in the bag the last 8 years. I had the paradym from last year it was my worst diver ever. The AI Smoke is the best driver...I have ever hit!! Won't be trading this driver in for 5 years or longer. My driver quest is officially over. Great video!
Damn! I was hoping it wasn't gunna be the Callaway Paradym Smoke driver, I just think it's ugly, but now I'm going to have to try it after seeing your video. I'm already using the Epic Speed which has been good but I'm seeing a lot of new drivers this year and I've got my fitting scheduled for next Tuesday.
Alex, I was gifted the Callaway Triple Diamond with the Ventus Red 6X shaft, tipped 1/2 inch. This club is a fairway finder. I was carrying the ball, Prov1, about 265 yards. I switched the weights putting the 14 gram in the front and 2 gram in the back and carry increased to 280-285 yards. I told a couple peolple about the weight shift and they did it. One guy picked up about 25 yards total distance. I have been a Titleist person for many many years but the Callaway stays. Any chance you might do a bideo with the same club and ball, I.E. Callaway driver and Chrome soft ball and so on? Thanks for the video!
I tested all the new drivers in a fitting and narrowed it down to the Ai Smoke as i span everything else too much. Might be my swing speed 102, but the Ai Smoke max span at 2300 the triple diamond was 1800 so dropped out of the sky. Drivers were 9 degree set at 8, and obviously the Max was longer with the benefit of increased forgiveness. My fitter suggested this was a common result this season, is the triple diamond redundant? On tour, most players seem to be playing the max, same with TM, technology is obviously moving at pace.
Yeah i do! I love it… however i have recently got fitted for a driver for 2024 season and it’s not the wilson. I loved the wilson and it can compete for sure
Alex, 2 things. I have the previous Paradym TD and it is super forgiving, but long and feels/looks amazing (IMHO). If I just wanted more forgiving or ONLY forgiving and not long then I would get a driver that spins near 3,000 rpm. There is another driver released this year that is low spinning. PXG Black Ops Tour. BTW Alex the weights are not behind the head, they are behind the face. The high MOI drivers have the weight behind the head and as far behind it as possible. A question: how does a ball go 30 yards farther with nearly the same swing speed, ball speed and smash...the spin was not that much higher. The ball you hit well had terrible numbers...has me questioning the numbers.
Good test, but not convinced it's a fair test. Choose a different shaft and the result could have been quite different. For me, a fair test is getting either A. The best stock shaft for each club or 2. The best upgrade shaft for each club. This is what the buyers options are, and ultimately tested for each head by the manufacturers. Thanks for the video
I understand your logic of using the same shaft on every club head. But that’s the wrong approach to get optimal performance out of every club head. If you went to a true Clubfitter and tried each clubhead you would likely find that that one shaft is not going to give optimal performance with every clubhead, you may find that to get the best distance out of one brand over another you may have to use three different shafts. Because just as all shafts are not the same, the design of all club heads internally are not the same. Certain shafts will make certain club heads totally rock and others will fail as was the evidence on the Cobra Driver here.
Agreed I have a Speedzone driver through trial and error with various shafts bought on eBay I’ve finally found an optimal one (it’s a counterbalanced shaft) I rarely miss a fairway and usually finds centre of driver and perfect for my average swing speed about 92mph not enough is talked about shafts imo everyone just wants to discuss new driver heads 😂
What was the average smash factor of each club? It seemed like less than optimal strikes were being compared to very centered ones. Of course I realize that the Smoke may sit a certain way that helps you find the center, but I also think you could eventually find the center of any club.
@@HowGoodGolfthere are 2 versions. Regular which is closer to the max model more forgiving close to 10k MOI. And Tour which is the LS. Lots of videos say that the tour is really long and straight. But PXG staff players have been fit into the regular
They haven’t sent loads out from what I’ve seen but I’ll vouch for it, I got fit to the standard one as a pretty high speed player and it’s phenomenal, super forgiving, spin consistent across the face (even on the high toe which has killed me in previous triple diamonds etc) and it’s more than fast enough in terms of ball speed, big improvement on gen 6 which I still think is a solid club. The tour head is apparently even lower spin but I didn’t even bother to try it given how forgiving it was in standard
I tested all 3. Love the look of the Dark Speed but the AI smoke triple diamond out preformed both of the other models for me. It did however spin too low so that’s why I loved the standard AI smoke.
I'd have gotten the new Paradym but decided on the 10k Ping after trying in store. The forgiveness is a greater factor than the small distance difference
I'm at the point in the vid where you're going over the results of your first drive with the Qi10 (5:48 into the clip) - 114 clubhead speed, 164 ball speed - smash factor 1.44 and you got total 282??? On what planet is that good performance?? 310 would be the expected total yardage give or take for a drive like that. I'll carry on with the vid and see how it goes.
Watched all the way to the end....I was surprised to see you slice 2 drives with the Cobra (especially with the weight setting set up for a draw) but like you said it maybe wasn't a good setup for you with that driver. Congrats to Callaway for smashing this test out of the park.
What would have been really interesting is to hit some shots at different swing speeds e.g. 90, 100mph. I find it difficult to rationalise your review with the swing speeds with what I could generate.
Yes I finally found one. I was ready to buy it but I don’t know if it was the size of the head or the weight, I had problems bringing the head back to square only could hit 220 to 230 but all were slices
I think that a fair comparison would also use the shaft fitted for the club. Clearly, not every head is going to be optimized with what is basically a random shaft. This test appears to have demonstrated that.
@@HowGoodGolf My thought was that a valid test would also have had each diver head in its most efficient configuration, which, to me, means it is equipped with the shaft that works best for that club head. Another shaft in each of the club heads, each optimized and fitted for the head and your swing, might have produced very different results, especially for the club that seemed disappointing. Not intended as criticism, but rather as an observation, because SCIENCE!
These tests are not accurate. Here’s why: over the course of hitting driver shots your body loosens up which means you’ll hit each consecutive ball further. Club head speed increases as you warm up. Is it 10-15 yard difference? For some this could be the case. A conservative yard difference cold vs warm is realistically 5-10 yards. Hit the same driver 15-20 times and get watch the numbers creep up. Do that with the intention of hitting it far like on this test.
Alex do you think the cobra should be not one you would use. Why I say this is when you tested in before on its own you did well, just with a different shaft. Test the triple diamond with the Accra and the cobra with the shaft you used before with the individual test. See what happens there. I'm interested as I am going for a fitting next week. I have tested the cobra LS in the sim with a 60 gram stiff 3.5 degree of torque Hazrds shaft and hit 300 yards and compared to my own Wilson carbon with Xtra stiff Hazrd and hit 294. I did not have a stiff shaft for the wilson.
you need to report carry distance not overall , because the electronics are guessing at distance IMO , once the ball hits the ground roll out is unpredictable by the electronics to be accurate
Love your channel Alex. One criticism. You don’t have to show us the track man numbers every shot .. we believe you 😂 But thanks for the awesome content.
You never expected the longest driver brand in golf to be the longest driver in a test? They’ve been better than everyone for the past decade at distance.
I love the reviews. But, People need to start comparing what’s available to the average consumer who’s already breaking the bank to buy the driver, let alone doubling the price by adding an aftermarket shaft. Test these puppies again with the stock shafts.
I agree, I'm not a TM guy usually because they were always flashy IMO, I'm more a traditionalist and like simplistic looking drivers. I think the QI10 looks fantastic, I love the glossy black look too.
*This has to be the ULTIMATE SPEED TEST… based on looks what’s do you think is your favourite?*
My personal experience is Callaway TD is feels and sound better .
Another great video Alex. I’ve been a Callaway fan since I used the original Big Bertha came out. Im still using the Callaway XR Speed. New drivers are simply out of my price range. Keep up the good work.
I like seeing these reviews so I know what to buy 4-5 years from now.

Great video mate! Love the Callaway drivers, I'm gaming the Rogue LS and absolutely love it
Really good one mister Eliot,is been a good comparison, brilliant!!!
Shaft weight? Just received my tripe diamond smoke. Testing it Monday!
PXG Black Ops 0311 Tour. Would love to see a comparison
Brilliant comparison of the new 2024 low spin drivers.

what should the ball speed difference be between 3 wood and driver off the tee?
Great question!
Are you using a universal adapter or 3 shafts with oem adapters?
I sure am! It’s the same system they use to
Fit golfers 👍🏼👌🏼👌🏼
All fit?
I feel test them with stock shafts would be a more fair test

Cally Triple Diamond AI smoke is the best of the new breed. It's in my bag as well.

Accura shafts are made in Canada and are gems beautiful shafts
Amazing
112 club head speed on the 306 yds on Calkaway wish you would of hit the other 4 in that range might not of been as close as it was
