Actually, I do believe in their jobs, friend of mine was hired out of college for Wemen's wear Daily, I had a restaurant-Gallery by 24 that I bought with my modeling fees...some people just make thing happen in their lives while others believe they have to earn their dues and work their way up and pay through years of sacrafice...Not everyone is a martyr.
I agree with @Kevin JEWELL It's not farfetched! After all, it's based on a real life story and based on Ana Wintour's real life persona.
I work in the fashion industry as a photographer and naturally, something like "Patrick" is a no-brainer to me. I actually picked more things out than others, since this is my industry.
Absolutely love the movie! "Recent College Grads" can't afford this lifestyle??? Ever heard of some college grads that have seriously loaded parents? The stuff I've seen... and yeah... the movie is more real than many people can imagine.
@@udornyc I modeled back in the day and then moved to Paris where I worked for fashion houses and seen the same scene from different angles...
14 years later, and Andy still deserved a more supportive boyfriend than Nate, and better friends. She encouraged his dream, why couldn't he have done the same for her?! 🤦🏾♀️
Trina Q Yh her friends were trash
THIS! YOU'RE ABSOLUTELY RIGHT!!!
I always thought her friend was jealous
I mean he did encourage her, she wanted to be a journalist and the job at runway started to change who Andi was, could he have handled it slightly different yes
Her boyfriend and friends were jerks.
This was SUCH a whiny list of things that don't matter.
Agreed. It's an entertaining movie. Let's just appreciate it.
One of the worst lists I've seen on this channel. Talk about far fetched.
True. Such an irrelevant list, no one needed!
The part about Emily’s red nose was so dumb.
@@ahkeke2359 Yes. She is fashionable and has access for high-end makeups. And would she come in the biggest party with red nose? Don't think so
This list is about as groundbreaking as florals for spring not gonna lie
Nice hint to the movie 👏👏
THEORY SCRAP: "Patrick" IS Demarchelier - Patrick Demarchelier, the real-life famed French fashion photographer who Miranda would speak with directly, and they would be on a first-name basis.
I always wondered who Patrick was....
Thank you! I thought so too and am so glad I was not the only one.
Eddie G Yes!
And The Mentalist didn’t start until 2008. This movie was 2006, so that theory is impossible.
Agreed, I always get the name, Patrick Demarchelier.
The only thing I want to correct is the “toe ring”. Andy is wearing it in Paris to show how far down the rabbit hole she has fallen. The original Andy barely wore any jewelry, and now she’s wearing jewelry for her toes? Well that is supposed to show much she’s changed into the girls she used to make fun of.
This list was pretty void of interesting details tbh.
I always thought Emily’s nose not being red during that scene was because she put a lot of concealer & foundation on it
I think is a very obvious for everyone but watch mojo...
Right! I always thought she had a really good makeup artist friend.
Same
exactly
...which makes perfect sence during a white-tie event.
Other than the picture with Anne Hathaway's mom in it this list was absurd.
Her nose is still red but it's not as noticeable in the second scene because she has more makeup on! Helloooo!
Literally here to comment that LMAO
I thought they were just crazy. It’s so obvious
Duh
Yes I agree
This list is a stretch. Y'all need to take a break.
Yes! Agree!
Emily’s cold symptoms are not inconsistent. Yes, red noses can come and go when you have a cold when you’re wearing makeup and then having to blow your nose. There’s also medication that may be working in one scene but wearing off in another.
Not to mention her nose was actually still red in the shot, just less visible because of the lighting
9:42 "do you agree with our picks?"
No...no I do not. The most unnecessary list of unimportant details I've come across on this channel
I remember her friends and boyfriend being garbage-people.
George Prchal In the book Nate wanted to be a teacher and abadoned after he quit teaching 3 weeks into the school year. What's her name was a shop clerk drug addict, and the other guy was basically briefly mentioned. Emily was actually nice. The twins were meaner.
I saw a red nose on Emily the whole time her character had a cold.
Ummm... New York is primarily all one-ways, why would they look both ways?
That's what I was thinking. And they're hailing cabs so they're already facing the direction of traffic.
I commented: HAVE YOU EVER BEEN TO NYC?
Karl Laughlin I live in Baltimore and even understood that! 😂 they need to stop with the top 10’s for this movie
Exactly. Came here to say that. Also, it's not unusual to leave the sidewalk to hail a cab. This is nonsense.
that's true! And they know the area they work in, they know they don't need to look the other way - they know what direction the traffic is going,
Emily's Red Nose: Just like most women in this situation, they would use makeup to conceal the redness for such a formal event, hence why it's not as red by then ;p
@M e Plus she looks super pale now, she still looks really ill.
When Andy calls the "mysterious" Patrick, it was because Miranda said "get me Demarchelier". So clearly not a mystery.
Emily’s cold symptoms being inconsistent: it’s called makeup. Girls cover up red noses with makeup.
The Mentalist came out in 2008. The Devil Wears Prada came out in 2006.
Good catch!
Thats hilarious, the only good thing about this list is the roasting in the comments.
Burned! Bwahahaha! This list really was trash...I'd almost classify it as click bait.
Toe rings were fashionable in 2006. I remember being given one as a present. I think it is supposed to symbolize how fashion owns her now, though.
So someone thought the Patrick Andy was calling was a character from a tv show and not Andy finally getting the hang of contacting Demarchelier, the FASHION photographer?
🤣 so stupid
Miranda specifically ask Andy to call Demarchelier by name in that scene. Watchmojo must've really not been listening during that scene.
The number one complaint is the apartment. Has there EVER been a realistic NYC apartment on ANY movie or TV show in the last 30 years?
Take Friends for example... an apartment like that in The Village would cost around 3000 a month, or even more
Her father was helping with the rent
I don't think it was the village. I think it was the lower east side which isn't as expensive.
@@alizahalon Not the LES. They lived in the West Village in a large 2 bedroom apt. $3000 min back then if paying market rent in that neighborhood, could be much less if rent-controlled and somewhere in between if rent-stabilized.
An extra’s dress is in the top ten? Running out of ideas?
Did someone eat an onion bagel! Stanley Tucci is Iconic!!
Erric Malankar Uhm wheat can be used to make an onion bagel.
I’ve never had onion bagel. Now I wanna try it.
5. Every street crossing scene in DWP shows a one way street, as the majority of NYC streets are. Those that are two way can't be crossed without waiting for the traffic light to change.
4. A woman attending a gala with a cold would use concealer to CONCEAL her red nose.
3. A snake looks like another snake? By heavens let me clutch these pearls dripping from the front of my gown!
2. How DARE Andrea Sachs not know she can't wear a tow ring in Paris of all places??? What nerve!
1. This list is as groundbreaking as florals for Spring.
That #1 is off. My daughter got a paid job at Vogue right out of college and most of her friends did well also. I do admit that their apartment was pretty big. She can only afford a studio in Manhattan
Obviously, there's a practical reason for the large apartments in movies and TV, which is the need for a space that can reasonably accommodate a huge camera crew without being cramped.
Also, this list never touched on how Christian was always trying to tell Andy to quit because he knew Jacqueline was supposed to take over Miranda's job. At first, he told her you need to quit that job right away when he first met her. At the gala, he tried to get her an introduction with his boss to make connections. I know Christian was kinda a sleaze ball, but he did know what was going on seemed to constantly hint to "get out of dodge" before your job is gone.
The first point is incorrect. Right before Andy says "I have Patrick," Miranda again asks for Demarchelier.
You seriously didn't consider that the photo was original (thus mom) and the actor was photoshopped over her real dad? Duh...
Hahaha.
wow this list was a stretch.. come on
I read the second book called Revenge Wears Prada, omg such a good 📖.. Imo I think they should make another one after this book. Miranda ultimately comes out on top in that one with her vindictive ways but oh does she do it so eloquently. Andy is married in it & Emily and her own a business that's all I'm going to share lol you really should try to read it being a DWPrada fan! It's awesome, surprising & so well written.. I really hope they take it to the big screen
5:11
Is that Zelena from OUAT. Best thng about watching old movies is you reconize them from today but older.
yeah Rebecca uses those gifs and pics a lot on social media.
Ppl still wear toe rings. I love them with my pedicure with flip-flops or heels
Most of this is utter nonsense, specially number 10, watchmojo has finally run out of ideas
You people have have been saying WatchMojo has been running out of ideas for over seven years. Move on.
Karen Page ok Karen
who else wants a DEVIL WEARS PRADA prequel... How Miranda Priestly becomes Miranda set in the 70s or early 80s played by Saoirse Ronan! it could be the fashion world’s version of how Darth Vader became Darth Vader but with style & more sass 💁♀️
That would be interesting. I wonder what Meryl Streep would think of that?
I see Devil Wears Prada, I click immediately!
Me too, it's still a must watch! 😁
... that Yellow Burmese Python used in the Central Park "Jungle" photo probably was the one Brittany used in 2001 .... and probably the one Selma Hayak used in "Dusk Til Dawn" [1996] ... so, that snake probably has it's own SAG card ... and an agent ...
News flash...New Yorkers are always running in front of cars when crossing the street, never really getting on the crosswalk. It's inherent in us to to only look one way because we already looked the other way even before stepping off the curb.
Emily has a red nose in all scenes, I do not agree. In the event, it is obvious her nose is red!
John Krasinski knows all of these,
He has watched it more that 72 times because of Emily Blunt 😂
As for Emily's "cold" - in the book it is explained that she actually has mononucleosis, which has similar symptoms as a cold.
As for her nose not being red when she meets Andy at the gala - she could just have put makeup over it.
Its a movie, not a documentary. Let it go
Lmao its iconic and it shows a lot of how the industry works
That's another movie.😆☃️
the 2 other girls in the beginning were the 2 candidates for the assistant job Miranda didnt like, they were showing a contrast within their & Andy’s lifestyle
Toe rings have always been in style and around. Y’all are reaching. 😂
I just watched this movie again yesterday!! Seems relevant and you uploaded like a minute ago lol
This list was boring.
I thought y'all were gonna say her "toe ring" was an engagement ring from Nate.
A better theory would be if that toe ring was originally a promise ring or gift Nate bought her. She wore it on her toe because she felt "wrong" wearing it on her finger during her date with that other guy.
just what we need when we’re stuck at home!!
Having a million $$ apartment on a shoe string apartment is a movie staple. Zoe Deschanel played an elf with a huge apt that she apparently couldn't afford the water bill on in 'Elf'. In the 50's, every new girl had a spacious, beautifully lit Manhattan flat as new digs before they started their job as a secretary. Hopefully no one watches these movies for their gritty realism.
Don't forget Carrie Bradshaw's Manhattan apartment before she worked for Vogue and only did a weekly column for a newspaper.
The toe ring? Never realized that at all, good eye
Just Some Guy without a Mustache what are you doing here?
Ok 10 was dumb and in #2 Emily's nose was red at the benefit. Maybe for #1 they had FRIENDS syndrome
The Devil Wears Prada is from 2006. The first episode of The Mentalist came out on 2008. I wonder how that “phone call” went... is Miranda such a powerful boss that she even predicts the future?
hi msmojo i love your videos so much!!
I wore toe rings in 2006.
I've worn a toe ring for decades and would NEVER be described as unstylish
This has been my favorite movie since I was six
Please explain to me: Why did Emily get mad at Andy for going to Paris? It would have been clear given the accident that she could not join Miranda and that Andy would replace her without having to mention that decision was already made.
Emily was angry because she knew Andy was not passionate about fashion. Andy wanted to be a journalist first and foremost. Fashion is everything to Emily.
Red noses can be covered with makeup for a charity gala.
The door she pulls has the "pull" label, the other side has the infamous "push" label.
The last point they were getting money from their parents happens all the time there was even a scene in the movie where daddy was giving her money
Exactly. He even says: I don't want you getting behind on rent.
Funny how the only thing I noticed about the movies was never mentioned which is at the end of the movie when you see Meryl Streep drive away after Anne Hathaway nods/waves across the street, there is no one but the driver in the car, no Meryl Streep. This list could’ve been better, it’s a really good movie and everything on this list is just ridiculous besides the nice detail of Anne Hathaway’s real mom being in the picture.
I think the first Patrick refers to Patrick Demarchelier to show that Andy now has everything learnt and under control. Just a long time fan who still loves this movie :)
This list is pretty trash tbh. Just to have a content? Hahaha
Really pointless.
i love u! u r the best youtuber ever!!
Guess what? I was at a building in midtown Atlanta with two-way doors and with the words Push and Pull on them. I asked the receptionist about it and he said that the words were added so that traffic would stay on the right both ways.
#5 - You must not be from New York. That's exactly how we cross the street or hail a cab. It is literally an art the way people dodge traffic in the city. We actually get extremely pissed when we cross the street and cars slow down or stop to let us pass. It ruins the momentum of our stride.
Miranda is based on Dame Anne Wintour, the famous Vogue editor.
Anna
Isn't it obvious Emily would tone down her red nose with expertly applied make-up for the event? Forget it, details of your incompetence do not interest me...
I love how it all works out and it will all work out.
Good job 👍
The scene that bothered me in this movie is that they make such a deal about how important that somebody must always answer the phone at all times. Yet the hospital scene has Andi and Emily together. Who is manning the desk and answering the phone back at the office?
Oh my good eye I didn’t even think about thatZ
Ummmm. Patrick Demarchelier is a famous fashion photographer. This is not a reference to any other character in the movie, but a smart reference to an affluent photographer in the industry.
I had a bf like Nate, let's just say we broke up. Later on I met my now husband who supported me for everything. Never complain when I finish work late or cancel our plan due to work. Nate is a really bad bf example.
Love these 2
very very great fun list I like it a lot great job mis mojo the devil wears Prada is one of my very favorite movies ever with a great cast one of my very favorite list ever
I can really seriously move into my cousin, Meryl’s home and I can go ahead and move right into my cousin, Meryl’s home.
2. Maybe it was a cream cheese & onion bagel.. It always assumed the onion flavour was in the cream cheese, not the bagel itself. 3. Gotta say, "urban jungle" is not exactly a "groundbreaking" theme for a fashion shoot , LOL. It's been done and done. Surprising Miranda approved this. 😆5. Never noticed the PUSH! (and i've seen The Devil Wears Prada too many times) Good one!
I need to relearn to walk before I come back to dancing but I am coming back to dancing, I am.
Families do change. Family dynamics do change.
People do move and they move for all sorts of reasons for whatever reason they move for whether it’s for a job, moving close to family, for love, and other.
8:39 SOMEONE IS SUPER SALTY 🤣
My absolute favourite ❤👏
I am going to the Oscars in March, I am going because this is something nobody saw coming and this is something nobody saw this was coming.
This is what i need😌
Once I get the Connecticut poster in the mail tomorrow on Thursday, I am home.
Yeah I agree this is like grasping for straws to make a video
I got interested in acting one year before my dad died and that’s what made me to become an actor and I know I am going to pursue a career as an actor with me having Down syndrome.
When something like that happens before a parent dies you can’t change that and there’s nothing you can do about that.
I’ve got a couple of surprises up of my sleeve.
The Britney snake is female and named Banana! Britney mentioned it in an interview once.
It's not supposed to be realistic it's a Rom-com.
Tbh, it is not. It falls more into the chick-flick genre. This movie doesn't have Rom-com elements at all to classify as rom-com. And it's not realistic. But the characters are rumored to be representing real people, *cough* Anna Wintour *cough*
I am returning, I am and this means going back to how it all began at the same time when my dad was dying.
now, prepare to be bored. Antibacterial wipes WON'T HELP against viresus! :)))
It is possible for a cold to advance considerable during a single day. Been there within a few hours quite recently. Also of course it's Demarchelier. As for the bagel who really cares. Also in a minor role OUAT's Rebecca Mader does a very poor American accent. Her own would have been much more fitting at Runway. Still Rebecca Mader is perfection. Tracie Thoms' charcter also wasn't as young as Andy and was perfectly realistic. I did think her friends and her boyfriend were horrible. She had a great job, was very good at it after she got the hang of it and they made out like fashion was nothing. Then at the end she goes back to the same old frumpy clothes. The ending never sat well with me or the shaming her peers did despite taking all the free goodies from her.
Her friend's sucked. They were happy to receive designer gifts from her job, but then mocked the job itself. The ending pissed me off as well. She supported her boyfriend's decision to move for a better job, but he couldn't couldn't support her for sticking with a job that would give her connections for her dream careeer?
those doors almost always move both ways, is shut that they break if you push them the 'wrong way'
It’s a god moment why Paul is coming home.
Something changed in me. Something has changed in me, something else has changed in me, something has. I am changed.
I am where I never knew I had and Welcome home and I am in Hollywood finally, I am here finally. I knew I would get here and I am here.
Yeah the "red nose" situation. Her nose was red in both scenes you showed.
You should look both ways when crossing a one way street. Someone may be backing up. I found that out years ago!
You really did a stretch on this blog. It's as if you have just run out of things to tear apart.
