I wanna ask who says that lars is bad drummer. After 1 hour 30 he had played an incredible blackened. Eternal support from a French fan of Metallica 👍💪🤘🇫🇷
its based on what people perceive to be an overuse of snare, probably started around St. Anger. Doesn't matter how good you can play, you'll never be the next Lars.
Hard for me to tell. I was in the 300’s first night. Second night I got my tickets upgraded thanks to a state trooper friend who was working the roof, got upgraded all the way down to the lower level. So of course it was night and day between the 2. I just had no comparison because I wasn’t in the same section both nights lol
Totally agree man, the crowd hyped me up before the show even began. And then hearing James say they felt in a good mood too made it even better. So much fun on Sunday. My theory is everyone came from work on Friday so they were tired, but they had all day to pregame on Sunday lol
Night 1 had more of my favourite songs, I hope they flip the night 1’s and night 2’s around throughout the tour cause I have night 2 in my city and id rather not go than miss creeping death or master.
it really was! i was in the first section to start the wave. the dude who started it was about 4 rows ahead of me and it took him about 40 tries to get even 5 people to do it hut he kept trying. i cant imagine his pride to get 80,000 PEOPLE to do it!
I was there sunday aug 6th and as a lifetime Metallica fan I was blown away.. Such high energy and excitement ❤ Ive been a Metallica fan for over 30 years now and never saw them live until Sunday. AMAZING SHOW. !!!!!! Best rock concert I have ever been to. words cannot describe it!!! James is the ultimate front man! Kirk slaying on leads, lars showing whos the boss on drums and Robert Thumping that Bass. Just the best live show. Ok im done gushing. LOVE METALLICA TILL THE DAY I DIE!
Took my 7 year old son, it was his first metal/Metallica concert, he absolutely loved it! When he was 2 Master of puppets came on the radio and he told us to turn it up! The rest is history. He’s now a fan for life! Bought him an electric guitar and a practice drum pad two days after the concert and now he thinks he’s a rock star. Can’t wait to take him to his next show! This was my first concert last night with my dad is was the best nihht if my life the second they came out not a single person was sitting an amazing show that i was honored to be at. Kirks solos, james voice, robs funny energy, and lars' badass drumming makibg the stadium shake.
Welcome to metallica they are always amazing live always come away thinking hows that possible they were are and always will be the best band to walk the earth
Whats amazing is anyone thinking this is good drumming ... he totally blew the drum break on the first song and his tempos are all over the place ... he messed up the intro for whom the bell tolls and most of the other parts which is really basic stuff
At 26, it was my first time seeing them and im gonna be honest, I shed a tear! Both days were fantastic and the closest thing I will ever have to an “Ozzfest” personally. Also huge shout out to MetLife so those “upgrades” lol
In 2008 there was a single ozzfest in Texas. Ozzy played a 2 hour set then Metallica played a sick 2 hour set. It was unbelievable. Getting to see Pantera and Metallica together is pretty special too this go around.
*DAY 1 SEEMED LOUDER AND DEF. HAD MORE BASS. HOWEVER TONING DOWN THE MASSIVE BASS FOR DAY 2 ALLOWED US TO HEAR THE GUITARS AND VOCALS MORE. ALSO REDUCED THE AMOUNT OF SMOKE IN THE BOWL TILL ALMOST NILL*
I disagree concert started out great with 3 bangers memory remains kept the fun vibe going but then lux aeterna is where the concert loses its steam and it doesn’t pick up until moth into flame. I don’t like seeing Metallica play One anymore because the song is pointless without hetfields gritty vocals that’s what makes the song honestly and then they close with enter sandman which yay we’ve all heard it a million times. They concert was in serious need of more heavy ass bangers but instead there were too many “just good” songs. I like too far gone but its not enough to give the show the energy it needed. 72 seasons and shadows follow from the first night sound much heavier live and gave the first show a lot more oomph. Call of ktulu is a classic but again not really super fun for a live show. I wish Metallica would stop playing wherever I may roam live I like the song on the album but it’s such a snore fest as a choice for a live concert. Instead of roam they should’ve thrown something really banger in there because the previous night you had sad but true and holier than thou which are both wicked live. I would’ve probably stuck shortest straw in there instead of roam. Fuck I’d even have taken cyanide, or some kind of monster over roam. It’s just so boring and repetitive live. Master of puppets over blackened is always my preference and if I went to a Metallica concert and didn’t hear battery I’d definitely be letdown I dunno the first night was definitely the more upbeat “heavier and more energetic” live set overall if you ask me. I love ride the lightning and for whom the bell tolls but for some reason I don’t get upset if they’re not on the set list the way I do so many of their other songs. Kudos to Metallica for doing two different set lists repetition is annoying but I think they could’ve changed some of the second nights song choices around from their vault and it would’ve made th the show feel more intense.
@@Janjibro66 Totally 100% agree, Night 1 was better! As good as "Whiskey in a Jar" is, it is still a cover song and I would have preferred to hear one of their original catalog songs like a "4 Horseman", "Damage Inc", or even "Spit out the Bone" in that spot instead.
This weekend was amazing. 6th and 7th time seeing them. Finally got to hear harvester (my favorite metallica song) for the first time and was second row of the pit for both nights. Also have 5 guitar picks and 1 bass pick from the show
Not content with your masterpiece recording of The Sisters in Philadelphia a month or two back, you now bring us both nights from Metallica's opening weekend back on their home soil. Wonderful mate, endless praise and thanks from someone who is always far too busy bouncing around at concerts to ever consider pointing a camera at stage to record events. This is sublime again, cheers from the UK!
I just love this stage and show this is the coolest thing I've ever seen. I can't wait to see the documentary they make about the road crew and how they set it up and tear it down and how it looks underneath this thing is just amazing!
It amazes me when people are so caught up in the moment they can’t even hear just how objectively horrible a performance is. The second half of this concert was a slow and painful descent into wrong notes and rhythmic diarrhea.
Nice job on this vid. I cant wait to see them Sep 1. I live in Atl but the wife and I are flying out to Vegas and then driving down to Pheonix to see them. It will be my 5th time seeing thme. Loved every show.
My first concert was the first night at east Rutherford, and it was the best ever! We went to both nights, and now we're going to see them next friday and sunday again. A year apart from the first time i saw them, im seeing them again!!
To the fans actually doing “the wave”pre show: that was the coolest thing I’ve ever experienced and has to be one of the most complete waves I’ve ever seen. Lol.
Thank you so much for this. Metallica live is still an awesome experience. James just hit 60 and he's still doing what he does! When they opened with Whiplash is made me realise that that song is over 40 years old! Consider that for a moment... James looks like the only one who has actual stage attire. Kirk looks very unmetal - like he's ready to hit the karaoke bars after the gig and Rob looks like he was mucking around backstage, got a stage call in 2 minutes and had to run out with whatever he had on. 😀
Unforgiven.... Kirk is totally in his happy place... And “One” definitely has Lars rocking in the moment... I can’t remember ever seeing him smile so much..... Nice!
The 4th was my first concert ever and it was Metallica, I have my buddy there as well but he was in a different section so I was playing where's Waldo oh, I couldn't go for the second night so my buddy was texting me the band setlist as the concert was going on, love that man
