I bought my first Chanel bag in San Francisco a few years ago. I had saved up for over a year to purchase the Chanel jumbo in caviar and GHW and traveled all the way from Canada to purchase it. I get to the Chanel boutique in San Fran to be told by one of the SA's that the bag I want is sold out everywhere and that I can be put on a 6 month waiting list but they cannot ship to Canada, so I would have to travel back down to the States to receive it. Instead he tried selling me a different color and hardware, but I declined because I knew I wouldn't be happy unless I had the exact one I had been dreaming about for years. Alas, I left and went into Neiman Marcus a few blocks down and checked their Chanel boutique. Well not only was their staff absolutely amazing and helpful, they had the exact bag I was looking for! They also had the bag in multiple sizes, which the SA gladly brought out, so I could compare sizes. The experience I had there was absolutely amazing! I guess it just goes to show that all of the boutiques are so different and your experience can vary drastically from boutique to boutique! I guess what I'm getting at to everyone is don't ever get discouraged from one bad experience, especially when you have been hyping up that purchase so much!
The Dior one was so pretty and then i saw the price point. I'm hoping she could do a collection of hand bags that are within a couple hundred dollars- for most people that is already quite the investment.

You are so sweet but I think you are over reacting when it has to do with happiness and bags and luxury stuff. I was happy when I got my first Chanel but That was it. didn't tread my luxury things like they where my children or something. People,all these things are very beautiful and it's very nice when you can have some of them or all of them but you cannot compare it to happiness!! You act like it's the most important thing in the world... why?

I've wanted a Chanel bag since I was four. I'm 22 now and I've bought one. Everyday I look at it and it makes me proud because it's like a personal trophy for all my hard work. Gabriëlle Chanel stood for so many things , so it's kind of an honour to own a Chanel bag. But it's still personal of course.

I'm talking about people that they do. It's a metaphor, they behave like it's a veeery important issue (Bags or whatever). And not saying that we should not buy them. But some people are focused on that and they get obsessed!
M van der what you are doing is nice and healthy and yes everyone has to get things that they like once in a while. But when that becomes an obsession.... there is a big problem the and a very big disorder!
If you disliked how Chanel made you feel awkward, you'll hate Hermes makes you feel. The employees suck st customer relations 😒☹️
indefat do people realise that this is a deliberate marketing ploy used by luxury brands.. They are trained to behave in this way! That's what helps them maintain their high status and prestige. If they were saccharine sweet and fawned over every customer people wouldn't feel such a sense of achievement acquiring a luxury piece.. also the 'this is the last one!' Line is the oldest trick in the book.
I shopped in Hermés on Rodeo Drive in Beverly Hills last May. It was for the smallest of purchases. A Kelly Double Tourn leather bracelet. I looked at each SA square in the eyes and chose to approach the one who had the kindest. She was quite gracious and polite. I know I can't compare my purchase to a Kelly or Birkin, but if I find myself in a position where I can request one for purchase, I think I'll apply that same technique 🤷🏻♀️ You never know 🤔
indefat they probably think you can't afford anything. Because I'm Beverly Hills they are welcoming to EVERYONE. They know you may be understated but have ALOT of money.
Agree, they act like they're doing you a favor by letting you look at their wares, and god forbid you're not satisfied with the exact thing they've decided to show you, you'll be made to feel like an ungrateful child if you want to see a different color. They're definitely told to give off that elitist vibe. Chanel personnel, in comparison, is really warm and welcoming. At least that's been my experience in my country and a few others.
I have to disagree! I have shopped in several locations worldwide including the "Mothership" in Paris. If you love the brand, know meaning research a bit then you are in. You do have to have a relationship but I was never told I had to buy a specific amount to qualify for a B or K. Develop a relationship and when you are ready, your dream bag is yours. Best to all!

Agree very much with the "Chanel being not friendly comment". Gone there and purchased in 3 countries and always feel so uneasy and looked down at by salespeople. It's a shame as the experience of buying the most expensive and pretty bag I own was not a magical one at all.

Loved this tag video so much! I'm never usually interested in Louis Vuitton bags, I think because knockoffs are so common, but something about your pouchette metis I just LOVE. I cannot get enough of it! It goes with so many different outfits and I love the top handle.
Nikki Poncsak SAMEEEEE and then I went in and looked at it in Louis Vuitton and I'm IN LOVE it's just so handy, I'm going to get it to travel with! Looks amazing on.
I so agree with you about Dior. They were so lovely when I bought my earrings, and even though the sales associate knew I had no intention of buying a bag that day, she still showed me a giant cupboard full of Dioramas, in every shade you could ever imagine (including your beautiful grey one). It was a little bit like when you put all your felt tips in colour order at school. Except with handbags.

I once walked into Chanel wanting to get my mom a necklace for her birthday and the employees were giving me the side-eye cause I looked like a kid I was 15 and acting like I'm not there. I actually had to call out for one of them to help me out cause I obviously can't open the cupboards behind the counter. So i went out the shop cause I didn't like the service. I went into Dior and got myself something I like and then went back to Chanel since I didn't find something for my mom in Dior. I SWEAR the minute I walked in all the employees smiled and greeted me cause I had a Dior bag and it seemed like I wasn't playing.. won't ever purchase from that branch again

Love your handbag taste! Can you do a video on designer-but-not-so-expensive bags? Like bags that are designer, that estou think are beautiful and good pursheses but not soooo expensive, for those of us who can't spend that much but want a good bag or for who is starting to collect...

I loved the Tag! and would like to answer lol.
1. How many handbags do you own?
I currently own 8 designer handbags, I did give a few of my older ones away to my younger sister.
2. How to you organise & store your handbags?
I store mine in their dust bags in my closet.
3. What was your first handbag purchase?
My first designer handbag purchase was a Gucci Boston mini in pink! I was 13 and it was on sale so my mom bought it for me :)
4. What is your newest handbag?
My newest handbag is my beloved Fendi peekaboo mini in green python which I've been eyeing for so long!
5. What is your most expensive handbag?
My most expensive handbag in my Dior Diorissimo mini in beige/brown python leather.
6. What was your most dramatic handbag buying experience?
I don't really have one..
7. Current favourite handbag store?
Definitely love Dior! Their designs are so elegant and I'm in love with most of their bags!
8. Current favourite handbag?
My Chanel classic flap in black caviar in the small size. It's been 2 years and I've worn this bag to death and it still looks brand new! thanks to the caviar leather which doesn't mark as easily as lamp skin. Although I absolutely love this bag I wish I had gotten it in a medium size.. The price difference between the medium and the small isn't that much, neither is the size difference it's just that the medium is a tiny bit longer!
9. Least favourite handbag?
Valentino Rockstud Trapeze small size in blue, don't know what I was thinking when I got it because it's definitely not my style! I like more classic pieces and I've only worn it a couple of times..
10. Next Handbag purchase?
I want to get my hands on an Hermes Kelly in size 25.. Can't really afford it yet lol.
11. What is your dream handbag?
Chanel Classic Flap bag in medium size alligator skin!
Obsessed with this those handbags! I've never been too interested in Dior bags but i think the Diorama is perfect for my style. Definitely adding to my wishlist!

lydia, I had to Comment on this. Although I would never be able to afford these types of handbags ( 3 kiddos to send off to college) I thoroughly enjoy watching them. I love handbags I swear it's the English in me ( though I live in canada now).. and every time you talk about them it's not in a bragging way and you can truly see the joy you find in them. I love that. so don't listen to negativity and carry on. . ps..every time you giggle I find myself smiling. what a cutie pie.

I loved this video so much! I purchased the pouchette metis because of you and I LOVE IT! I bought it to take on a trip and haven't switched out of it yet simply because it's so perfect. The Hermes Kelly bag is a beauty but if I had all the money in the world I don't think I could justify spending that much on one. LOVE!

I have had the same experience with Dior customer service - SO polite and genuinely nice, not condescending or snarky. I recently purchased some Tribales Earrings in the Dior Boutique at KaDeWe (kind of like a Harrods in Berlin) and was treated so well as a first time customer. I also tried on several bags at Gucci and the SA was SO patient and kind, I will definitely go out of my way to purchase my next handbag at that boutique because she made me feel HUMAN and not like a second class person (like some designer stores do).
The Louis vuitton capucines in blush or black would suit your style and personality so well
Of course it’s the pouchette metis!! Now that I have saved & am ready I’m going to have to hunt around for it. I have other bags in similar shape, top handle with long strap. It’s defiantly my favorite style.

You are so right when you talked about customer service at Chanel vs Dior. I live in Australia, and the same happened to me a couple of months ago at Chanel. They totally ignored me and when I asked to show me the Boy bag, it was more here have a look and good bye. While when I went into Dior to look at some earrings and spotted the Diorama, they were all over me. Knowing I wouldn't purchase it then ( I'm so going to buy one ❤️, still saving....), they went beyond explaining the Diorama, showing me all the colours etc.

I have to say I agree with you on the service at Dior vs Chanel. I now have an awesome SA at Chanel but when I first walked in I felt like I was a huge bother to them -one SA even looked at me an turned away. At Dior they are so excited to show you any bag you like and really help you find the perfect one. At Chanel they only show you the bags you specifically ask about, like they are hiding other ones you'd really like but they just aren't trying to sell you (unless you have a dedicated SA).

I love this tag! Bags have been my obsession for the longest time but since trying to be more plant based in my lifestyle I decided to switch over to non leather bags now which is tricky since there's obviously way more brands that do leather bags, but there's also some really amazing vegan bags out there as well. I know it might not be your thing, but if you ever do come across some awesome vegan bags you recommend, please let us know! xo

I got the Valentino Rockstud Spike Bag in Black for christmas and I am in love with it!!! I have it in medium and it is such a great size I can fit a lot into it, and I am just obsessed with the hardware x
But the burgundy is such a beautiful colour, definitely my second choice!

agree with that awkward intimidating feeling at Chanel, except Chanel in Tokyo (Ginza)!! although i didn't end up buying any, they were still soooo friendly. I ended up with Lanvin happy bag, had great time in Lanvin Tokyo (Isetan) as well. I've shopped for luxurious handbags in Singapore, Paris, Zurich, Milan and I must say Tokyo was my fav!

i have the lady dior in the medium size, i got it in shiny black with silver hardware. i wear it ALL the time. i wish i got it in matte leather and gold hardware but i still love this one so much as well. i also recently got the baby dior in python leather with champagne gold hardware. the champagne gold is SO pretty!
