@ApeX turn on your engine inlet heat switch, right side of the cockpit near the near the pitot heat switch. give it some time after you turn it on and you should see the advisory caution disappear.

Great; Now I can see how long I should stay behind the tanker before giving up and going home. :P Very exited for this weeks patch. Have a great day folks
I would like a bit more like a fully functioning radar and CM panel, along with so many details, they are clever enough to never tell you when things will be done, but I had hoped that because they had all the smart weapons in the A-10, they shouldn't have to re-invent the wheel every time. I was anticipating that Xmas might get as much further along but I can see I was stupidly optimistic.

well once the ATFLIR is released it will mean ED has completely reworked FLIR across DCS, so yeah, my life will also be complete. I've been crying about FLIR since a week after I started playing...
Excellent. Makes you really respect the old “steam gauge” guys who had to do many of these calculations in their head or on a kneeboard in order to get back to the boat.
Awesome feature to be added to the Hornet. I have been looking forward to this and I am happy it would be coming soon. Very powerful planning tool. The various DDI pages are gradually getting populated by their various function. Thank you Matts for the introductory video for FPAS.
Is there a difference in which throttle setting the climb speed is achieved? I.e. with afterburner you can climb steeper (with higher climb rate) maintaining the optimal IAS (if the indicated climb speed is indeed IAS), but burning a lot of fuel, while in max military throttle you'd climb in shallower angle (lower climb rate) with the same optimal IAS, but would be burning less fuel. How are the home fields set (WP0?), our is this function still WIP?
I believe it is fixed and the amount you should have left when you get TO the airfield (to be able to go into a holding without declaring and emergency). Bingo fuel would be the amount of fuel that is needed to get to the airport and still have 2000lb left. (As far as my admittedly limited understanding goes)
Question: when selecting the home base, how do i know what base is under which number? (Assuming it's similar to viggen's system) Or maybe does it correspond to a waypoint?
Could you post the specs of the system you are using for the images of these videos. The edges of the shadows are cleaner that what I have seen before. Thanks!
One of my irks about the sim are the shadows of the planes on the ground are far too sharp. If you have a basic understanding about light and shadow and atmospherics, you might understand what I'm talking about. You might be talking about the shadows on the cockpit itself though.
Hi Wags. Question: why does the Hornet get a huge X that doesn't go away on the max G number on the FCS page after using the G override paddle with a load of weapons, and the FCS goes all jerky and the jet's nose is shaking around in landing configuration on speed AOA?, and besides that, when in landing configuration, the plane's nose raises and lowers itself according to the throttle.., isn't the FCS computer supposed to keep the aircraft on a steady attitude? And also when there's an uneven payload, isn't the FCS computer supposed to trim the aircraft to not keep banking to one side?
Is this already in the manual? do they update the manual as they add features? I was wondering if there is a feature in the mission editor that would help you to figure out fuel loads and flyable distances, there used to be a (add on) calculator that helped, not sure if it still works?
So, just to be clear, are you suggesting the best plan is NOT to fly until the fuel remaining indicator reaches zero - at which point everything becomes very quiet and peaceful - and then seeing how close to anything that even remotely looks like an airbase you can get to and perhaps touch down upon (with or without resulting fireball - and wtf is even catching fire at this point! Hydraulic fluid ;-) )?
Best time to look for an airbase to land is when your plane is no longer a plane but a very heavy glider. Don't forget to drop ordnance to extend gliding range :D
hello there! Is there a way to set the "To 2000 pounds" a different number (as my bingo for example)? Given the mission length 2000 lbs could not be enough to get back home! thx!
Good old inlet ice making an appearance.
@ApeX Turn the inlet heaters on (next to pitot heat) and it'll turn off after a few minutes. I just ignore it though.

To quote Galaxy Quest, "Never give up! Never surrender!" :)
Rookie!! That should tell you how much time before you give up on refueling, SHOOT DOWN the tanker, THEN return to base! :P

Great job Wags.

I watched but I didn't think this would be all that interesting. I was wrong. That page is actually going to be very useful and at times, critical.
Awesome feature, thanks for pushing out these episodes beforehand
That was very interesting. Was waiting for that page to be activated.
Great Video Mr. Waggs! Why did the altitude under optimum range and endurance keep rising ?
As the aircraft flew, it burnt fuel and becoming lighter, so the optimum altitudes increased
These fight simulators are getting breath taking 😳👍
Loving the updates!
When you had to make those endurance and range calculations at school feels good
This is that nice meaty systems modelling I've been craving.
This is great, thank you!
We've been looking forward to FPAS in my virtual unit. One guy in particular 😁
Thanks for the video, Matt. Q: Is the amount of 2000 lb fixed or is that amount variable and set by your bingo fuel amount?
I believe it is fixed and the amount you should have left when you get TO the airfield (to be able to go into a holding without declaring and emergency). Bingo fuel would be the amount of fuel that is needed to get to the airport and still have 2000lb left. (As far as my admittedly limited understanding goes)
Yes, fixed about above 2,500 lbs, or 0 when below.

Or maybe does it correspond to a waypoint?
This looks amazing.
Is this 2000 lbs of fuel metric a "hard coded" thing that it always gives or does it change based on input bingo level?
A bit off topic, and it may have been covered already, but does anyone know if the replay option will be restored ?

Hey Matt,
When will we get Data Link in this jet? I think it's one of the most useful feature to have especially in multiplayer than FPAS.
Thanks!

When in landing configuration, the FCS changes rule set to instead maintain commanded (trimmed) AOA
The FCS in landing mode tries to keep the plane in trimmed AoA, which is not the same as attitude.
I wonder what the hardest system to model was.
Is this already in the manual? do they update the manual as they add features? I was wondering if there is a feature in the mission editor that would help you to figure out fuel loads and flyable distances, there used to be a (add on) calculator that helped, not sure if it still works?
Manual will be updated this month.
