  • Same bar and chain on both saws. Stihl lightweight bar and 3/8 105-DL Stihl RS chain.
    Here's a link to the Stihl bar adaptor. this allows you to use stihl 3003 bars on Husqvarna saws with the D009 bar mount pattern.

    Thanks for the look, Cincy fan here too. I don't think you can go wrong with either saw. I am considering getting a 592. I currently have a 462 and run the 3/8 chain 0.050 bars. Am I able to run my Stihl bar on the 592 or do I need an adapter? If I go with a 660 instead I don't think there would be any problem would there? Looked OK per the manual for either saw to take a 0.050 or 0.063 bar but i wan't sure. I'd prefer not to have to buy a new line of chains and or bars for the Husky saw if the stihl are compatible to bolt on or if I can with an adapter.

    HI, I was a Husqvarna dealer, for eight years, starting in late 1978. I still have my original Husqvarna 44 Rancher and 380CD. After 55 years, both saws run and cut like the day I bought them. In the last three years I bought a 562XP, a 450 Rancher, and a 592XP. In my experience servicing and using both Husqvarna and Stihl saws, I believe that Stihl makes a good saw, but Husqvarna makes a GREAT saw. In all those years selling or recommending Husqvarna saws, I have never had a single complaint, not one! Indeed, just the opposite. Shalom/gw

      @markshul03 I just prefer the feel of the 661 we got both at work the 592 is ridiculous. Really though both are big saws that will get about the same work done so just comes down to feel for me. I would take a 395 over a 661 I even kinda prefer my 288 to the 661 to be honest. Something about the new husky saws feels off to me but really depends on the saw a 550 feels better then a 261 to me.

    Which saw has better anti vibe? And which one oils better? I know you said the 592 should oil more but I have heard the 661 is stingy with oil too. Anyhow, features besides cut speed are what i think are important. The customer doesn't often ask me to race saws on a tree job.

    • @Andyshine77
      @Andyshine77  8 місяців тому

      AV is so good on both that it's a non factor. Both oil about the same, but the oil pumps go out more on the 592 and the leak more. Make sure the pin on you 661's oil pump is tapped in so you can turn the oul pump to max flow. The 661 is the better saw all around. It's built better it has a simplified design, so it's a bit easier to work on if needed. It's just a higher quality tool all in all.

      That is totally improper technique for making timed cuts. Doing so makes the cuts inconsistent, slow and not repeatable. Doggin the saw in, and rocking it, always makes for slower cuts, always! You can't tell, but I was closely regulating the load on the saw to keep each saw in its power-band. I, in fact, always make other cuts with heavier load to make sure I was running the saw properly, those cuts are always slower.
      Most of the videos you see on UA-cam with guys rocking the saw in the cut, have no concept of how to make repeatable inaccurate cuts for timing. Doing so does not demonstrate the engines power. It has been discussed in the saw community recently, just how poorly some of the other comparisons have been.
      None of the timed videos you see with guys rocking the saw in the cut have any validity whatsoever.
      I do appreciate your input! I put a lot of time and effort into being not only fair, but I also pride myself on understanding what I'm doing and using the best technique known.

I wanna jump up to one of these bad boys to run the same bar and chain as my 441c just a bit under powdered. Both seem like great Saws. Which would you say have the best Power and best low end torque in your hands? Also which air filtration is better? Thanks. I want a saw to cut down fast as the splitting ram is returning back. Fine saw, with good power for it's displacement! It really depends how you plan to use the saw, "bar size type of wood". The problem the 400 and the 362 has, is the 462. The 462 is only slightly heavier, yet it has more power and overall capability. The negative with the 462 is the price.
      So if you if you don't need the extra power, you can save money with either the 362 or 400. Obviously, the 400 will have the edge over the 362.

      The difference in felt vibration between the saws is not discernible, both have excellent AV. The 661 may be slightly softer than the 592, but not a huge difference. The Stihl 500i has very soft AV, some say too soft, so they swap out the 500i springs, with 661 AV springs.

      @@Andyshine77 I just want future fellows not to have to deal white the white knuckle crap us old-timer struggle with it's no fun.
      And saw the landing buckets pull lots of the soft saw apart during pinches, now with hyd. loaders is easier I'm sure.
      The 090 were heavy but dependable, needed the warm-up to perform, we needed the cool down from packing them in.
      Not sure how Cali will deal with electrification on outdoor tools, Will be interesting to watch.

      @@markdonovan1342 Quality and a more simple better thought out design, especially the intake and carb setup. I can pop the carb off the 661 in 30 seconds, the 592's carb setup is a mess of wires hoses and brackets. The 592 does have the 661 beat in the way the engine revs out and a slight edge in power. Both are smooth, both weight about the same.

      Love the 395, but out of the box the 592 walks all over the it and is lighter. The 585 is 86cc and has a regular carb, the 661 also comes with a standard carb or Mtronic.

      There are way too many problems with these saws! They make great power but are not durable or reliable. The issue I'm seeing is leaking intake boots, cracked cases, and bar carbs. The 661 had numerous issues early on, but they've been rectified.

    Fantastic comparison! I hate to say it but on paper id assume the 592 would’ve impressed me a bit more. Both great saws at the end of the day. Thanks for sharing!

      A lot of things can sway things one way or the other, like the lod getting slightly harder, and larger as you work your way down the log. That said, even when I compare them in a larger chunk of wood, I bet they will be within 1% to 2% of each other. The 592 is a better value, and there was another Stihl price hike, so the 661 is $200 to $300 more.

      @Andyshine77  Рік тому

      The 500i is an amazing saw, but even with some light mods, the torque of the 661 and 592 are In a different class, as it should be with the displacement advantage. Now if you port the 500i, things get very interesting, and obviously the 500i is quite a bit lighter. These saws are for bucking and felling large trees, for most work a smaller saw with good power is more logical.
