  • Imagine if everybody knew first aid. Not advanced or specialized first aid, but simple, basic, standard first aid. There would be virtually no need for paramedics, lifeguards, volunteer first aid attendants and potentially even nurses. Due to people understanding how injuries happen, they would avoid those situations but in the odd case that they do happen there would be no need to worry due to the common knowledge of how to handle such an injury. We’d live in a world where equality, well being, and the safety of others and ourselves stems from our knowledge of first aid.
Hunter Van Dyke is in his fifth and final year here at Eric Hamber. A native to Vancouver, he grew up loving the outdoors lifestyle his parents introduced him to. With his loving family including a younger brother and dog, he quickly learned the usefulness of first aid at home. Since beginning to study first aid at the mere age often, his love for first aid and helping those in need suddenly blossomed. Now seventeen, an indoor and beach lifeguard, swimming and first aid instructor, he hopes to pass along the importance of first aid.
