    Hey Austin! ArcOne here. Thanks for your review of our Singles lens. We now make a HD Singles lens that is the same, but you see a clear view instead of a yellow hue. Let me know if you have any questions! Thanks again, Eva - ArcOne Marketing Team

      How can I get ahold of said HD lens. I have a hard time seeing the path I am welding in with most lenses therefore I’m curious whether you can provide a solution to what I see without jeopardizing vision. A shade 11 is preferable. Please let me know the best recommended lens you guys have!

    You were speaking of the American Optical cool blue gold plated lense. As slag could easily scratch the gold off ( actually happened to mine ) should debries get between glass cover lense and the shade lense. As I understand it American Optical was sued for eye damage by a welder and American Optical recalled all welding lense. The "cool" meant that the heat ( infrared waves ) was reflected away from the weldors face and thus more comfortable. Note that the wen lense has a " scratch resistant " coating as well as a protective raised edge as protection against scratches. The cobalt blue lenses used for gas welding 3000 series aluminum did cause eye damage. They used a 5 or 6 shade lens fyi. Austin, keep up the good work and stay safe.

    G'day Austin, I'm in the process of making a pancake welding helmet for light fabrication and I will only be using it indoors, I have just been diagnosed with type 2 diabetes and it has slightly affected my right eye so doing away with any backlight should help a lot. I will paint it white and install a super bright LED light focused on the weld puddle to help me stay on track.
    Before I load the spray gun can you see any problems painting it white because most pancake helmets I've seen are usually black. Thanks mate.

    auto darkening lenses are real
    handy especially if your a pancake user, it’s a little fast and easy to use a auto lens from having to grind something or a quick fix before striking another arch. beside pulling up your pancake and pulling it back down. Thumbs up for the auto lens! good video sir!

The blue cobalt glass was more cost effective to mass produce than it was profitable to American optics. Trust me if you’ve ever looked through 1 of these NOTHING on the market today compares.

    I’m assuming you probably don’t do much inside welding, but have you ever had the solar lenses not go dark if you’re inside or in a dark shadow? I’m looking into them because I have a tendency to leave my auto darkening hood on and run the batteries down by accident. I weld inside a lot but I also weld outside too a decent amount so I was looking into the solar lenses when I get a sugar scoop.

I actually use a number 12. They were made in Massachusetts which is where I am from. The company use to make bincoluars for the military. Sunglasses and welding lens. If you go on Ebay you can still find them. They go from anywhere between 500 to 800 bucks. They are great I won't weld with out one .UA.537 BOSTON

The puddle is still a little orange, but A Lot clearer and closer to white than orange. I will say, that my brother-in-law was using an older shade 9 and got a new 240hd shade 9 and had to change it out because it was burning his eyes. Didn’t hardly make it through the hot pass before he had to quit and change it out. He ordered a shade 10. I’ve been running the Arc One HD in a shade 10 for a while now and absolutely love it. Would like to give a gold Aulektro Lens with a blue drop-in a try. Can anyone tell me if I should go a shade lighter because of the drop-in or stick to a #10?

    How do you tell what's the front on a tinted lense? I bought a gold tint and not sure what's the front as the original was a standard on my pipehood

    • @arosswelding
      @arosswelding  6 років тому

      The gold part is the front. That’s what will face the weld. Make sure you put a clear lens in either side of your lens also.

    What are you using now? Did you find a blue auto?
    and is the Lincoln auto overpriced or super best?
    What are you using these days? The video is 5 years old now.
    I'm about to buy a pancake and get an auto lens for it. and a cheater. Thanks!

    Have you had any problems with gas companies making you use only clear lens that are stamped Z87+ shatter resistant only. Had one that is what they are requiring to use. Had to special order them through Air Gas.

    Can someone explain why pipelines use pancake style hoods? I mean to me I feel like a traditional auto hood would be better? But I'm curious to know the difference. Thanks in advance

    • @itsyaboimat2393
      @itsyaboimat2393 6 років тому

      MizFit Rider it's so they can fit in tighter spots on the pipe but also pancake hoods block the sun from getting in the back of the helmet which auto darks don't

    Try Phillips Safety. They have a couple of acrylic drop-in filters that you use with your existing shaded lens that turns your weld puddle a blueish tent. I have the Magenta which is purple and I pear it with a shade 10 and it works pretty well. They also sell their own version of the fixed shade lens but they are to expensive for my blood. Fixin to order one of those Singles 240S HD that everyone is raven about to see what all the fuss is about?
