Hey Austin! ArcOne here. Thanks for your review of our Singles lens. We now make a HD Singles lens that is the same, but you see a clear view instead of a yellow hue. Let me know if you have any questions! Thanks again, Eva - ArcOne Marketing Team
How can I get ahold of said HD lens. I have a hard time seeing the path I am welding in with most lenses therefore I’m curious whether you can provide a solution to what I see without jeopardizing vision. A shade 11 is preferable. Please let me know the best recommended lens you guys have!
Just tried out the lense I bought from you guys and WOW! That is hands downs the best lense I have ever used it is better than the Lincoln 4c because it is slightly clearer. Wow what a lense you guys have in the singles s240 duo. Love that thing!
You were speaking of the American Optical cool blue gold plated lense. As slag could easily scratch the gold off ( actually happened to mine ) should debries get between glass cover lense and the shade lense. As I understand it American Optical was sued for eye damage by a welder and American Optical recalled all welding lense. The "cool" meant that the heat ( infrared waves ) was reflected away from the weldors face and thus more comfortable. Note that the wen lense has a " scratch resistant " coating as well as a protective raised edge as protection against scratches. The cobalt blue lenses used for gas welding 3000 series aluminum did cause eye damage. They used a 5 or 6 shade lens fyi. Austin, keep up the good work and stay safe.
G'day Austin, I'm in the process of making a pancake welding helmet for light fabrication and I will only be using it indoors, I have just been diagnosed with type 2 diabetes and it has slightly affected my right eye so doing away with any backlight should help a lot. I will paint it white and install a super bright LED light focused on the weld puddle to help me stay on track. Before I load the spray gun can you see any problems painting it white because most pancake helmets I've seen are usually black. Thanks mate.
auto darkening lenses are real handy especially if your a pancake user, it’s a little fast and easy to use a auto lens from having to grind something or a quick fix before striking another arch. beside pulling up your pancake and pulling it back down. Thumbs up for the auto lens! good video sir!
Singles 240 shade 10 it's a HD lease so it dont have a yellow tint to it, it's really nice for the time I've used it!! I have it in my pancake rn and loveing that!! Keep up the good work love the videos!!🤘🏼
American Optical was the lens made 20 plus years ago that had the cobalt in the lens. Great lens. I wish I had a box full of them. They are worth big bucks now.
American Optical and the first Lincoln super visibility lenses were cobalt lenses. I was told by older hands that the mines ran dry. Cobalt became a rare mineral.
I found a Lincoln super visibility glass lens and it's super clear it's a shade 10 and has a nice blueish color to it works great for mig welding it's about as clear as the lincoln viking helmet
I have used the regular singles for the last 5 years. But last week I just got the new singles HD lens they just came out with. It is badass I love it. Very clear and more of a whiteish/blue color not so much green. It is a lot brighter tho and a lot of guys are gettin a shade darker on the HD than what they use on a regular singles
Wait is the singles ss240 lens the one with the white/blue arc I've been looking for one cuz a old welder let me use his and I forgot what the lens was called I wanna put it on a old Honeywell fibermetal hood

I use a shade 10 cobalt blue wenz Len's. I used an old hand's hood one time that ran the Cobalt blue Len's fell in love and found one for myself. They stopped making them due to using up almost all the materials that made them blue. Also the Miller auto darkening lense I have is a white puddle not colored.
Proud owner of an original American Optics weld cool number 12! My grand dads old lens! And close about the discontinuation of these lenses but not quite correct! The blue cobalt glass was more cost effective to mass produce than it was profitable to American optics. Trust me if you’ve ever looked through 1 of these NOTHING on the market today compares.
HTP has a helmet called the Clearview 2.5 that is supposed to have 'True Color Lens" for a more realistic color rendition. Might want to see if you can just get the lens from them and give it a try.
Im using a fixed gold 9 for mig. Its a little to bright but love the clarity. I wonder if wearing amber color saftey glasses would make it just right since I have to wear saftey glasses anyway?
I need to try that auto lens. Blue and green give me a headache so i been using gold fixed for years and years. But there's lots of times i wish i had auto dark.
Hey Austin. You say you would like to try another tint ? You should try Seer lens and yes there auto darkening battery and solar power . They are super clear . The tint is more of a whiteish blue .
I'm currently trying a jackson truesight auto dark with my everlast welder that colors everything slightly yellow instead of the usual green. I like it very much
I have a Seer orange 9 and a Radnor blue 10 both are auto darkening. I can honestly see more with the blue 10 for some reason I remember it being almost too bright for my blue eyes so I switched back. Going to try the Radnor again this week though.
I’m assuming you probably don’t do much inside welding, but have you ever had the solar lenses not go dark if you’re inside or in a dark shadow? I’m looking into them because I have a tendency to leave my auto darkening hood on and run the batteries down by accident. I weld inside a lot but I also weld outside too a decent amount so I was looking into the solar lenses when I get a sugar scoop.

Absolutely! I had an older singles 240 for years and just got a couple of the newer 240hd’s. WOW!!!!!! What a HUGE difference. I absolutely love the new ones. The puddle is still a little orange, but A Lot clearer and closer to white than orange. I will say, that my brother-in-law was using an older shade 9 and got a new 240hd shade 9 and had to change it out because it was burning his eyes. Didn’t hardly make it through the hot pass before he had to quit and change it out. He ordered a shade 10.
