You explained it so much better than the manual that came with my machine. Gonna practice. Have two pair of dress pants to hem for my grown son and really tired of doing them by hand. Been doing them by hand for years. Have known my new machine does it, but hadn't tried it yet. Thanks so much. I subscribed.

I've been watching videos on blind hems to send one to my beginner daughter and I struck gold with yours! You did a fabulous job with the sample and gave clear, concise instructions. The icing on the cake is that she has the same machine!! Thanks so much for providing the help my visual girlie needed!

Great video! Thank you for taking the time to share this. One thing I'd like to add for those who may be new to sewing is that some machines don't even require a presser foot change. I use a Singer Inspiration and it is one of those machines which you can use the general foot for all of its stitch functions. The one thing I always advise is to check your machine's manual as they have a table in them which shows which settings and machine pieces you'll need for your specific machine. Also, if you've lost your manual the internet is a beautiful thing. Most machine manuals can be found online with a quick Google search.

Finally, someone who actually showed the settings on the sewing machine! This was super helpful, thanks:)

Your video did the best job of explaining HOW to pin and flip the hem properly. That was the one piece that I couldn't really 'visualize' until I watched your video. Incidentally, I have a brother sewing machine that came with one of the blind hem foots that has the bar and the adjustable arm. It also seems to have two blind hem stitches, one facing left and one facing right. Very handy.

I'm so glad you mentioned about using this with lightweight fabrics. I was researching ways to hem a light broadcloth and now I know how!

Just to let you know your video is still the best out there for explaining this. Way better than my machine handbook and thumbs up for demonstrating using fabric with a clear difference between right and wrong side. Thank you very much.

Thank you Thank you! I watched 2 other videos first and tried to do this blind stitching for my pant leg hem on my own and I messed up-stitching was on the wrong side! I took it apart and decided to try again. I found your video and it made sense to me with your explanation of pinning-that was the key for me and folding over with the little edge exposed! I followed your steps and I tried again- and yippee it worked! I was so pleased and I did the second pant leg with ease! Thank you so very much! I will check out your other videos. This teaching style worked for me!

Thanks this is the easiest way to show 'How the hem was Folded' to start the hem.. Thanks - now it looks easy.. So many I've seen says fold this way then this way and turn over etc... was so confusing.. Why couldn't they have said fold your hem like you want ti and then turn it over as you showed.. haha Thanks so much..

Awesome amazing! Just used the tutorial and did a perfect blind hem that is totally invisible with a woollen fabric. This is game changing -I'm way too lazy to do these by hand. I had to keep the fabric really tight on the side of the foot (almost to the point of squishing it under the broad side.).

    Hi,
We have a specific tutorial on a basic hem located on our channel, go to it and search for "How To Sew A Hem". In this video we show you how to fold it. I recommend learning a regular hem before doing a blind one. If you cant find it, just send me a private message and I can send you a direct link. This comment area does not allow links. Hope this helps.

I too have a Husquvarna Lilly. A tip that I learned about the machine especially if
it makes a grinding sound and binds up. It is a sign that the needle is ever so slightly bent unknown to me. Usually if I turn it off and change the needle I am good to go. Also liked you demo on blind hem. I made an example out of paper and drew in the stitching a lines with a pen. Why did I wait so long to learn this
    amazing technique?! Mary

hmmm...I would test it out on a small piece. It might work better on delicate bridal netting then the netting with the larger holes. Otherwise, you might just see the thread from both sides anyways

You explained it really well. When I buy a machine, I will look for that type of stitch as I really need a machine mainly for hemming and taking in the sides. Wonder if you have a video on taking in a dress or blouse to make it fit better.

if you use a regular presser foot do you have to change the needle position further to the right to accommodate the zigzag?

This is exactly the way ready to wear clothes are hemmed! I can do this with my 1951 Singer and the zig zag attachments, but I love hand work so don't do it that way.

Easy to tell right sides from wrong sides so you did good there. But you pre-pinned the garment, blah.
