Great video thank you! I feel ready to tackle my daughters skirt. If taking up a school skirt that you may want to make longer at a later date, should I unpick the original hem? Does it matter if the blind hem is about 3" up from bottom of the skirt? - Need to keep the length for future growth!
Amazing techniques, thank you! Yet I am struggling to do it, I mean when is supposed to stitch the straight stitches, the top thread doesn’t catch the under thread, although test sewing the blind hem on a piece of the same fabric comes out fine. Already tried to adjust the tension, still the same problem. I have no ideea what to adjust next.
Not sure how to measure the amount of material that is folded over to get the correct position for my hem. CAn anyone guide me?
Quick question. When pinning the fabric do you go through all the layer or just the last turned over part?
Pauline, you should pin through all the layers so the folded portion does not shift. Glad you are using this quick tutorial and happy sewing!
Great tutorial! My question is how do you secure the beginning and the ending of the stitching?
Great question Jenny! You can use the back stitch or lock stitch button just as you would normally use it for a regular straight stitch. It will secure the ends of the blind hem stitch as well.
Janome thank you for your answer to my question. I love the videos that use actual garments or projects then just flat pieces of fabric (test pieces exempt) as starting and stopping can be very different on the finished garment.

I have a big box store MC6650 with an HP plate. Can I use the accufeed walking foot with this plate on my machine?
Penny, the Memory Craft 6650 does not come equipped with the AcuFeed system. We do manufacture an Even Feed Foot to use with your MC6650 machine. We would recommend using either the Zig Zag needle plate that comes standard on your machine, or the Straight Stitch needle plate (which also comes standard), rather than the Professional Grade Needleplate (HP). The HP plate is made to work perfectly with the HP foot, the feed dogs and even the needle may not line up correctly if you use the HP plate with an Even Feed foot. @@JanomeJAI Thanks! BTW, for every video you should put a label with big lettering on the back of the machine being used, which identifies the model # of the Janome machine. That way viewers who are interested can go to the Janome website and see the details of the very machine you used for the project and purchase the same one. :-)
