The next two are aloha Ohana (love for the Ohana) and lastly, aloha ‘āina (Love for the land.) I along with my Ohana Kelley of Ni’ihau are so fortunate and grateful for the Robinson Ohana for their continuous commitment, dedication, and support in the preservation and the perpetuation of the Ohana Ni’ihau culture, traditions, Language, and it’s way of life. Got to visit Niihau in 2010 via the owner's Helicopter, back then we were told the owners keep this helicopter for emergency medical evacuations for the Niihau residents. They raise support to keep the helicopter maintained by allowing silly tourists to take day trips out to the island, you could choose a hunting trip or a scenic trip with beach landing. We picked the beach landing but the pilot also showed us the wildlife from the air, super fun! Got to see plenty of great white sharks, a pig, and plenty of other various mammals kept there for hunting purposes. We did not get to talk to the residents but did see a couple of them, we landed at the beach seen in the video right behind Lehua islet. While I was walking out on the rocky and slippery shore line I slipped and fell right on my okole! The trip was required to have 5 people as I recall, but the other group did not show up so the owners decided we could go anyway, just our little family of four - amazing adventure!! @nomad74777, Damon Rydell, yes, it is common knowledge that the purchase of Ni'ihau cost the Sinclairs $10,000. Negotiations for the island was initiated in September 1863, brokered by the Minister of the Interior, G.H. Robertson while Kamehameha IV was King. The Sinclair family initially offered the Hawaiian government $6,000. Because Kamehameha IV passed away that November, and the deal was completed and the island was sold in January 1894, it was approved by Kamehameha V. The purchase price of $10,000 is common knowledge, but we left that information out because, within the context of this video, it almost sounds as if the amount of money validates the treatment that the native Hawaiians received.
Some of my children attended Ke Kula Niihau o Kauai in Kekaha in and around 2002 or so. They could speak hawaiian but did struggle with the Niihau dialect.

The last few lines of words weaved into the mat have been translated to mean,, “Therefore the people became free under the one law called the Mamalahoa, the giver of the greatest piece in his kingdom, an honor that has come to us from an old kingdom, that of Kamehameha I. Let us rise to study the great cause for the decrease of the Hawaiian people, a large population in the olden days under Kamehameha, and to ask the king to change the taxes on animals, cattle, horses, donkeys, mules, and sheep and let none of them remain. They could never move above their class and they could never marry anyone from a higher class either. I wouldn't say that most living things don't want Hawaiians to succeed, but yes it's true, many haoles came from many places and told plenty lies to the Hawaiian people. They took the land from the Hawaiians , they bastardized the culture for the benefit of the tourist industry, they rerouted the streams on Kauai so they could irrigate the surface industry. The west side of Kauai is like a desert today because of this . Waimea town, Hanapepe, Eleele, were all lush and tropical 200 years ago, but George Norton Wilcox came to Kauai and literally changed the climate so that his crops would flourish, and they did!
The original 'Native' Hawai'ians did not own the Land, the Land Owned the People, same as on the Mainland and most indigenous cultures. The concept of 'Land Ownership' was introduced by the 'Western Civilizations' but was very quickly embraced by the Hawai'ians where the privileged upper caste were granted titles to large amounts of 'Free Land'. They understood the value of a quick profit for easy-money and 'sold' their land to more intelligent and industrious people that turned the land into vast fortunes for many generations. Meanwhile, the greedy and short-sighted Hawai'ians quickly ran out of land and spent their money unwisely. And now they claim their land was stolen and want it back... The USA did NOT steal their land, they sold away their country. By allowing Missionaries to bring diseases and religion to their paradise, they lost everything. By choosing to not fight for their Kingdom, it was taken like a ripe fruit by a monkey.
Interesting. I have had conversations on this very issue with locals. They are not happy with the dialogue. But from what I researched this seems to be true. So someone correct me if I am wrong.
Just like the natives of the continents, Hawaiians killed each other over the ownership of the land (just like everyone). They most certainly knew what land ownership was.

Was the first settlers language different from the modern Hawaiians who slaughtered them?
Dont forget the part about tahiti and samoa finding hawaii. There was no indigenous people when they found Hawaii.
Ah yes, the ol" "we're all immigrants" narrative used to rationalize ethnic cleansing and genocide. Keep up the good work!
Which would then allow them to become indigenous, right?
there were also no indigenous samoans before the austronesians arrived
AMERICANIZM IZ SATANIZM
Be careful what You say..Most living things on this planet don’t want Hawaiians to succeed.
maybe if the queen and the hawaiins had showed some guts and fought they would have be worthy of succeeding.
@@JJ-gm4ck so if upper Europe countries like the Scottish,Russians,Germans etc. had GUTS! Then they would of stand up to their tyrants instead of fleeing to Great Britain, being an eye sore to the Queen and then being put on the mayflower and send overseas. That’s da kinda guts Your talking about?? Just ask the Indians on their land to the blacks in Africa if they had guts too?
Social media made every gutless lying backstabbing wanna be’s a key board hero!
Easy to talk about guts when one wasn’t there!
NOT TRUE- STOP
So it wasn't stolen, it was taken like a ripe fruit by a monkey.... Bahrah! You made no sense! Auwe.
Just like the natives of the continents, Hawaiians killed each other over the ownership of the land (just like everyone). They most certainly knew what land ownership was.
@@AHLUser White colonizer descendant trying to justify his ancestors wrongs by victim blaming a total and ongoing genocide of both Turtle Island natives and Kanaka oiwi. So disgusting! 🤣

The landing people have not been under someone’s control and LMFAO. They are guests and they can leave anytime they want. It’s privately owned no matter how much Democrats want to claim ownership of somebody else’s privately owned properly. It would never happen.
