2020 Family Year in Review: Our year captured in the family text thread!

- For over 10 years I've captured our family's year in a video that I gift to them on Christmas Day. We gather either after our Christmas Brunch or Dinner (depending on how much editing I have left to do!) and I share this with my familia.
Last year we didn't do this because we had recently lost Papi, the rock and pillar of our family (11/7/19) and I wasn't in the head space to create this video. Frankly, our family was reeling over the loss and just wasn't ready to see a year where our exclusive focus was to keep Papi as long as we could with us and as comfortable as possible as he was losing his battle to cancer.
2020 wasn't just about the pandemic for my family. It was about helping Mami transition to a new stage in her life without Papi but the happiest moments were in capturing the two newest members of our familia come into this crazy world, say their first words, take their first steps, and just being little chulerias en pote! Eleazar and Demi are a GodSend and have brought so much joy and promise of legacy in our family.
Our family text thread was a way to communicate on Mami, the grandkids, and of course the shenanigans. Great content for the 2020 Family Video!
Here's a little window into my family. My wish for you is that if you are experiencing a loss or still very much grieving one that these images give you some hope that things will get better and there's still a lot of life and promise in every family. You just gotta create these spaces, if even on text threads, to communicate, uplift, love on each other and share a laugh.
