Control Unit repair For Roller Shutter Garage Door

let's try and repair a roller shutter control unit. This is the faulty control box for a roller shutter garage door, a friend gifted to me. I'll will do some basic fault finding and work around repair.

I wonder was it a cold solder joint between the chip and pad . If you reflow the legs on the chip would it be sorted ? Or leave well enoug alone 😀

Anything is possible I guess. It's working fine now and it's back with its original owner. I'm sure he'll let me know if it breaks down again. But for now, if it ain't broke don't fix it👍😆

I had a door like that years ago. I had to get closer and closer to the unit to operate the remote. Eventually I gave up and operated it by the button on the box.

Please try to figure out how/why it failed.

The control unit is back on the wall, with the original owner and operating the garage door just fine. It is in daily use, so I'm sure I'll find out if the repair is going to last. It's still a bit of a mystery what exactly caused the failure. However if it does breakdown again, I'm sure he will give it back to me, to take another look at it.

Keep in mind that roller shutters can seriously injure and kill people.

@@florentbr83 it was only done for testing purposes, to see if the board is working properly.
