The Ancient Egyptians believed in an Afterlife, so attempting to resurrect the dead could've been seen as sacrilege. Still pretty heartbreaking though.
The ancient Egyptians put spells on the coffins of their dead to help them in the underworld. Vandalizing that part of the coffin is sort of the same thing as sending someone to limbo
I'm so happy that Boris got to play a romantic leading man. The Mummy is a tragic love story, not a horror film with the title character as the villain. Boris' voice is beautiful, mellifluous, and mesmerizing.
The movie probably influenced several generations of movie goers on how to think about ancient Egypt. How many tourists over the years thought about this scene when they visited the Cairo museum?
Hey youngsters, the reason why this scene is silent is because silent movies in the new talkie movie era denoted the past. The acting is also in the Silent Movie style.
If he has succeeded resurrected her he can be with the woman he loves because She has a second Life free from sacred duty. She can became her wife, the most cherished wife in Egypt for me.
Well the 1999 got this part right of Imotep angered the gods, but not breaking in an temple of Thoth. Book of Dead in Anubis, he be more angry with Imotep, not sided with him.
You do feel partly bad for this Imhotep, because all he wanted was to resurrect the woman whom he loved and who died, so he could be with her again.
I definitely felt for him. And he also was unable to understand that what he was doing could have severe consequences.

@@isobelduncan Resurrecting the dead also goes against the laws of nature.
Yes he dosent seem like a bad person it appears to look quite normal what he did because he knew he could bring her back
Is that not also what the 1999 One wanted as well?
Karloff has an amazing voice
That's why I love the 1966 How the Grinch Stole Christmas special, because he voiced the narrator and the Grinch
Bela Lugosi too
Imagine if he succeeded in resurrecting her... No doubt someone would recognize the princess!

These classic monster movies will always have a special place in my heart. If I had to pick a favorite it would be the Wolfman

Love how the mummy sounds like he's from Kent
Karloff was actually from Surrey, but his family had Indian ancestry.
This Scene Was So Awesome They Reused it Twice Years Later For The 1940 Universal Kharis Mummy Films
I love the Movieclips. And Boris Karloff. 👍👍🎥🎥 thank you for sharing.
Imhotep is great lover
Τον καταλαβαίνω απόλυτα! Είναι δύσκολα να είσαι μακριά από αυτούς που αγαπάς! Αυτός ζητούσε μια στιγμή με την γυναίκα που αγαπούσε!

I was watching the mummy scene clips. What is this one 😭
Imhotep did an unholy thing, trying to make his sister daughter giggle and squeal that he had with his mommy. 😂😂😂
What
I did an unholy thing, and I liked it.
