Did the other younglings save Grogu? That could explain how he ended up held up by that group later since they wouldn’t have the experience to keep him safe for long!
I've always liked the idea that Leia has always been just as strong with the force as Luke, however, whereas Luke's connections with the force allowed him to become physically strong, Leia's connections with the force helped sharpen her mind to help her become a wise ,and strong leader. This show really does a fantastic job at showing that I think.

This show really hits home something I've been thinking about for 30 years. How Luke was sent to the violent desert while Leia lived like a straight up boss.
Just a little correction: John Williams only wrote the main theme for the show, while Natalie Holt (who also scored Loki) composed the music for the rest of the show.
Thank you! I keep seeing all these breakdown sites talking about how he's returned to score the series. Like...no, and that's why we only get short glimpses of his previous Star Wars motifs in this show.
Yeah it’s too bad. Even if it’s not him, it’d be nice if she’d reprise more of the classic themes. Not sure why composers are always so shy about that. Most of the score (in the first episode anyway) was mostly forgettable and boring.
The scene with obi wan not being able to help out his cooworker reminded me of the zygerrian arc from the clone wars. He gets captured and every bit of hope is drained away as he is powerless when the zygerrians punish the other slaves and not him
I always found it a bit strange when Leia got excited saying "Ben Kenobi!" in the New Hope prison break scene. She was pleading for Obi-Wan Kenobi in the hologram, but I guess her hologram message was a diplomat formally asking for help from a general, rather than Leia talking to Ben. But after watching the first two episodes of the Obi-Wan series, her knowing him as "Ben" makes more sense and her empathy toward Luke's loss is more sympathetic.
I never understood why anyone would be confused about thay regardless. I figured Bail would've told Leia any names Obi-Wan might go by. It makes sense.
They have to try to fix that horrible introduction to her using the force in Last Jedi. Between the prequels and the last 3 movies, they have a lot of fixing to do. +Force Awakens wasn't so bad in my opinion.
@UHLEXEUS I would imagine they'd have to give them credit for the recap at the start. Disney is usually pretty good about doing the credits episode by episode in their shows, not one credit reel for the entire season.
She didn't read Ben well at all! One hologram and she instantly thinks he's the mastermind behind her kidnapping! She didn't trust him until she nearly killed herself trying to get away from him. If that hadn't happened she'd have kept running and never been found while he's getting shot in the back by bounty hunters.

They seriously nailed this story. The vibe is perfect. It's interesting because Ewan, who has played Obi 3 times had to act totally different. Like Wolverine was in Logan. A season two of his childhood and very younger days of being a Jedi would be very interesting.
They created a massive plot hole. Reva can find Obi-Wan but Vader can’t? Leia would now be compromised by the empire and in a new hope Vader would know he’s connected to Obi.
@@andrewraley6247 Leia wouldn’t be compromised. She was kidnapped and on my reva supports that choice. Everyone else, even the inquisitors, want to save her. Also reva will likely die and she’s the only one who knows their connection. Also, Reva did something extremely reckless to find Kenobi, and even that was by chance. And reva apparently has been obsessed with him, while Vader has been mostly busy.
Also. A funny thing about Sun Kang, is that his character's full name in the Fast & Furious film series is HAN SEOUL-OH. Which means he was kinda destinated to play someone in the Star Wars universe. 😜
I noticed that Bale, when speaking in a more official capacity, or simply to people of his own station, he speaks with something closer to a British accent, just like Leia does with Vader and Tarkin, and Padme does in the prequels. This can’t be specific to Alderaanian officials, since Padme is from Naboo, but is more likely a tradition of decorum for children of privilege who enter into politics early and go through programs like the junior senate.
@@OfficialRedTeamReview definitely not enough, especially since our original time seeing it was as the Death Star blew it to pieces in ANH. I can't say how impressed I am that Disney finally kept a major plotline secret, I don't think anyone imagined seeing Leia in this series and I can only hope they keep the writing this good for the rest of the series. Leia has been spectacular IMO. Honestly I can't say enough about everything from the lines the young actress was given, to the wardrobe, but then her acting and or the directing has been great and I can only imagine Carrie Fisher is smiling knowing that they made such an amazing version of her character appear again on screen. Like everyone. Why is 3rd Sister so obsessed with Obi? Could be that padawan who esaped in the intro and then was found poor and hungry "in a gutter" as the Grand Inquisitor said, she'd know who Anakin was from the Jedi Temple and may have met other survivors who said he was Vader or she may have been a "friend" or admirer of Anakin who now wants to please him by killing Obi who Anakin blames for himself and Padme. I'm also one of those hoping we of course see Qui Gon Jinn. They have shown Obi try to ask his former masters opinions on things and so far nothing, so I think by the end of this series he'll open himself back up to the force. I think that's the transformation they're really playing at here with this series, that Obi hasn't really done much but work and watch Luke for a decade. He's basically been a monk, much like Luke in 7+8, but they were both powerful fighters with the force before they failed at training someone who fell to the dark side and then closed off from the force only to then spend years closed off from the force until they realize the can use their minds for greater good than just fighting would ever accomplish. ------------🚫🚫🚫🚫🚫🚫🚫🚫🚫🚫----------------------- I spaced this out because anyone reading this should stop here if you haven't seen all of the Star Wars shows. Spoilers, but if like speculation with other fans so read on and reply if you would like because it's about to get nerdy. I really hope we get to see the live action version of Obi vs Maul. It was awesome to see that storyline end, but I can't help but wonder how many people who are watching this series and have never watched Rebels to know Maul is still around and badass at 48. And it would be a great scene with Ewan, while also lining up the main stream appearance of Ezra and the rest of the Rebels who are allegedly coming up in the next year in other series. I also think it would be cool if we get to see a teenage Bobba Fett or the Hutts in some form, even if it's just a passing by and builds a touch of lore for the original trilogy or some other property. Maybe Greedo idk?
I suppose generally "the jedi hunt themselves", or getting jedi to reveal themselves by endangering innocents or people they are bonded with, first in the saloon and then in the faux kidnapping, is similar to Vader's plan in empire? The whole capture the friends and torture them on bespin lures Luke out.
Leia's mother Padme gave R2D2 a special commendation when she first fled Naboo to Tattooine after the Trade Federation's invasion in Episode I. I guess droid appreciation runs in the family.
The reviewer managed to spot an imaginary holocaust reference (not at all), but missed the absolutely obvious - for any real star wars fan - skyhopper toy - not a shuttle, which is not only in a new hope, but also in Rebel Assault as well as in a Lego set.
A couple things I noticed, the jawa that obi wan talks to has a name, teeka I think, and if I'm correct it's the first named jawa weve seen outside of legends. The other thing I noticed was that the shovel obi wan used was literally a military style folding shovel like we have here on earth, and to be frank, i think it belongs on the same kind of list as the diner from AOTC
leia is so leia I love it 😂 I really enjoyed episode 1 more than ep 2 but still was able to enjoy it a lot. Ewan is amazing. And can't wait for Hayden to fully show up.
7:23 I think it's worth noting that the Scurriers were based on the maud'dib desert mice from Frank Herbert's Dune, which also inspired things such as the Jawa's sand crawlers and the idea of hyperspace routes.
No one else get the Princes Bride reference from the 3rd sister? When describing the torture "first we start with the hands" Very much like "To the Pain"
I personally don't give a damn if anyone has anything negative to say. I really enjoyed the first two episodes and I am looking forward to the rest. It really showed the human side of Obi-Wan and just how broken he is because of what happened. I thought the opening scene at the temple was great and didn't even notice the youngling who could be Reva. I hope it is true because it would make perfect sense why she's turned and is making the Jedi hunt so personal.
Great video as always! I feel a responsibility to report it’s not a T-1 shuttle model but a T-16 skyhopper that Ben has, and I imagine eventually gives to Luke. Great throwback and connection to ANH! ALSO: if we see skyhoppers racing in this series, I will FREAK OUT.
The Saloon owner in the beginning is played by Derek Basco, the eldest brother of Dante Basco (aka Prince Zuko from Avatar: the last Airbender, Jake Long from American Dragon: Jake Long, and Rufio from Steven Spielberg's Hook)
You know it's the Star Wars universe when you have to combine clips from the 80s classics, the prequels, a video game and a kids show in order to explain a new series.
No one seems to talk about how Anakin was one of the few who was Jedi by choice until his fall. The Younglings didn’t have a choice in joining the Order.
6:16 R4-P17 was decapitated in Episode III. 6:39 Obi-Wan actually says the same phrase to Luke in A New Hope. 10:38 I noticed C-3PO, but missed R2-D2. 11:05 I was thinking the same thing.
I’m always amazed that after all the thousands of battle droids the Jedi have been fighting for a decade they are just killed by a few clones so easily.
The Clones where always programmed to know how to kill jedi. They knew the way they reflect blaster bolts and they knew exactly on which spots on and on what frequent they have to shoot at them, so that they eventually get overwelmed and make a mistake. Non the less, a sith lord and a former Jedi where involved in the creation of the clones, with the only one goal to make a big ass genocide. Droids where just a simple and cheap "Distraction-Tool", created by the very same men, who made the clones
The chasing Leia through the woods was kind of lousy. She runs very slowly and yet they couldn't catch up to her and were even intentionally running in to stuff. It just made them look really stupid when they are supposed to be threatening. Also, it happens again in epiosde 2!
I also think Reva, the 3rd Sister is the older sister of a cadet we saw befriend Ezra in Rebels Season 1. The Cadet told Ezra they took her sister for "a special training" and he never saw her again.
“The Jedi hunt themselves” has so many meanings and I love it. First, their job is easy - just cause suffering and eventually a compassionate being will appear - most likely a Jedi. Second, the team is made up of former Jedi. But also, when faced with something as insurmountable as the Empire, Jedi would most likely turn inward spiritually and therefore “hunt” their inner self, which would lead to increasingly compassionate behavior, making them stick out to the inquisitors. Full circle. I also think they’re teasing Obi Wan going into hermitage to practice reaching qui-gonn through the veil. I’m assuming that prequel Jedi had not mastered that skill so maybe it only works in master-apprentice or parent-child relationships as opposed to the sith “save others from death” power described by Sheev. Would also explain why obi wan, yoda, and anakin show up in ep VI and Luke and Leia show up in ep IX as force ghosts. All of them have close relationships with the people seeing them
My guess is that Anakin/Vader spared her life at the temple because he sensed the Dark Side in her and that’s why she knows, but also why she’s so faithful to him.
Reva IS a fomer youngling, and shes harboring a deep hatred for Anakin Skywalker after witnessing his slaughter in the temple. She's dug in deep into her dark side to fuel her vengeance. I think she wants Obi-Wan captured to secure herself an audience with Lord Vader, so she can strike him down. ...but we know who will be dying at the end of this series, dont we?
Did the other younglings save Grogu? That could explain how he ended up held up by that group later since they wouldn’t have the experience to keep him safe for long!
When the hologram appears for Leia's parents her mother says Help us Obi Wan we don't trust anyone else. In A New Hope Leia says Help us Obi Wan you're our only hope.
Probably already mentioned but, leia also uses R2 to help escape from jabba’s sail barge in return of the Jedi when he breaks the chain tying her to jabba
You said Obi-Wan pulled a "reverse Rey", pulling the sabers out of the sand, and I thought the same... Except he actually used a shovel? I was wondering why, then it hit me: he really is avoiding using the force at all costs.
He really struggled to lift Leia with the Force and there are a bunch of times where it seemed like "sensing" in the Force or using Jedi mind tricks really could have saved him. But I get the impression he actively has avoiding using the Force over the past 10 years, and is out of practice.
I want to point out that Anakin's lightsaber has the bubble activator that we saw in A New Hope. It was replaced with the gold bar activator in ESB, ROTS, and the sequel trilogy.
ROTS... as in Revenge Of The Sith? Then doesn't that make it inaccurate? Because this series is set 10 years after ROTS, so it should have the gold bar activator you mentioned.
@@afiqazman6615 No. In the original Star Wars, the activator was the bubble activator. It's the only interpretation of it where it has the bubble activator, so this is them trying to say it's closer to ANH than anything else.
I'm surprised how everything even worked out in the long run!, I mean- what I mean is I find it rather uncanny. when I first watched the original trilogies I was confused and find some little things rather strange but now watching these newly released star wars series especially Obi-Wan Kenobi, I can see that now and I'm so happy that they followed the steps of the original trilogies and kept on the same pace. +Respect..
5:15 i really hope that is a spacs whale! Because then we might see one alive whenever they decide to introduce either Ezra bridger or Thrawn. Maybe both?
I have had a theory since it's never been explained, mentioned in Shadows of the Empire Luke goes back to Obi-Wan's house and finds a green crystal to rebuild his lightsaber. I wonder if Obi-Wan kept Qui-Gon's crystal, after cutting Darth Maul in half, as a token and that's why also Luke fights a little more like Qui-Gon in the Return of the Jedi. Love all the symbolism this series is having.
Wasn't that customized Gameboy Advance in Obi-One's box? Staying long on that desert may be boring, a round of Pokemon Red is always a good time killer :D It's also a nod to the older movies, where they used repainted everyday products to act as a futuristic device.
I love how Tatooine is like the westerns (and spegetti westerns) and Alderaan is like the hyper-futuristic, hopeful settings of 1950 sci fi. Almost Art Deco too?
Gotta say, agree with Ryan. Young Leia is awesome. Love me a smartass kid in shows, and she has nailed it so far. She's almost as badass as Laura in 'Logan.'
I'd like to say that the High Inquisitor was pretty patient, kind, and understanding to the locals as someone who's out to kill someone with no remorse. Am I WRONG?
I think Owen trained himself to block his thoughts, and feelings, albeit ,it appeared that reva was beginning to sense something in owen when she was interrupt, and told to stop.

Also, Reva did something extremely reckless to find Kenobi, and even that was by chance. And reva apparently has been obsessed with him, while Vader has been mostly busy.
@@andrewraley6247
Nope...
One of the ships they showed with Leia was the one designed by Porsche specifically for Star Wars. Thought that was cool.
I saw that too!
Also. A funny thing about Sun Kang, is that his character's full name in the Fast & Furious film series is HAN SEOUL-OH. Which means he was kinda destinated to play someone in the Star Wars universe. 😜
Oh shit
I noticed that Bale, when speaking in a more official capacity, or simply to people of his own station, he speaks with something closer to a British accent, just like Leia does with Vader and Tarkin, and Padme does in the prequels. This can’t be specific to Alderaanian officials, since Padme is from Naboo, but is more likely a tradition of decorum for children of privilege who enter into politics early and go through programs like the junior senate.
Good eye/ear!
We've seen Alderaan before in the Old Republic cinematic trailer: Hope. It looks identical to the Alderaan here.
And in the prequels, Bail goes home with Leia.
@@Someaddress555s True. we saw it for a brief second but not enough of it
@@OfficialRedTeamReview definitely not enough, especially since our original time seeing it was as the Death Star blew it to pieces in ANH.

I spaced this out because anyone reading this should stop here if you haven't seen all of the Star Wars shows.
Seeing that homeless clone trooper was so heartbreaking.
like a Bantha
@@phoule76 🤣
It really touched me how even though the Clones killed the Jedi, Obi-Wan gives him some of the little money that he has. Obi has forgiven him.
It was one of the ones that stormed the temple too
Leia's mother Padme gave R2D2 a special commendation when she first fled Naboo to Tattooine after the Trade Federation's invasion in Episode I. I guess droid appreciation runs in the family.
The toy is a T-16 Skyhopper. The one Luke talks about shooting womp rats with.
right?? it's hilarious because today i've watched several episode breakdown channels and every single one has gotten this ship wrong.
We see 18 year old Luke playing with that toy briefly as C3-PO is coming out of the oil bath in ANH.
And the real one is parked right outside, seen through the doorway.
The reviewer managed to spot an imaginary holocaust reference (not at all), but missed the absolutely obvious - for any real star wars fan - skyhopper toy - not a shuttle, which is not only in a new hope, but also in Rebel Assault as well as in a Lego set.
Thank you!!!! Lol I also commented on that. I would think if you have a channel about a subject that you should know your stuff before posting!!!!
Same! The shovel is called a K-Tool (I think)- my dad had one from the Marine Corps !
leia is so leia I love it 😂 I really enjoyed episode 1 more than ep 2 but still was able to enjoy it a lot. Ewan is amazing. And can't wait for Hayden to fully show up.
That kid is so annoying
7:23 I think it's worth noting that the Scurriers were based on the maud'dib desert mice from Frank Herbert's Dune, which also inspired things such as the Jawa's sand crawlers and the idea of hyperspace routes.
Thought the exact same thing
What a start to the series!
What a vague comment about the mostly cringe series!
It’s already half way over lol
Was waiting for this! Best content out there, keep up the great work guys 😁
Screencrush easter egg vids. One of the best perks of a new Star Wars series showing up on Disney+ !!
No one else get the Princes Bride reference from the 3rd sister? When describing the torture "first we start with the hands"
Very much like "To the Pain"
I yelled FLEA! at the top of my lungs and then Leiah did exactly that. She fled.
In the title reveal, the "I" in "Kenobi" is his lightsaber. Foreshadowing how his lightsaber will be uncovered from the sand it's currently buried in.
John Williams only wrote Obi Wans theme for this show..the score was written by Natalie Holt (composer of Loki)
Cap
I personally don't give a damn if anyone has anything negative to say. I really enjoyed the first two episodes and I am looking forward to the rest. It really showed the human side of Obi-Wan and just how broken he is because of what happened. I thought the opening scene at the temple was great and didn't even notice the youngling who could be Reva. I hope it is true because it would make perfect sense why she's turned and is making the Jedi hunt so personal.
“Now the Jedi are all but extinct” is an Obi Wan quote from A New Hope too.
An impressive start so far! Seeing Vader at the end sent me chills!
Great job Ryan. Thanks big time. Looking forward to all your coverage of Obiwan
I agree about Leia sensing what her cousin was truly feeling. She's already developing her Force abilities even though she's unaware of that fact.
8:34 ‘He raised a Jedi’ not alone he didn’t. It may be Beru’s raising and values that were a bigger influence on Luke.
Anyone else notice how the Obi Wan title is made of sand and Anakin hates both Sand and Obi Wan. It's like poetry
The grand inquisitor says to the sister “you are reckless!” Just like Yoda said to Luke
6:12 "I don't seem to remember ever owning a droid." - Obi-Wan
You're about 20 years late to the party bro
Literally waited all day for this video to drop. Now, I can rejoice
… so, Luke was totally at peace with himself when he could see Obi Wan’s force ghost or later, Yoda’s? Eh … I don’t think so.
I love your breakdowns, this is helpful especially since I want to understand while watching this series
All of them have close relationships with the people seeing them
Ive been waiting all day for this
Obi-Wan also said the line "Now the Jedi are all but extinct" in A New Hope.
In canon, no one new that Anakin was Vader…only Tarkin and Thrawn had inklings of it…mistake for the lowest ranking Inquistor to be in on the secret
Some knew, but they feared Vader’s wrath. He despised Anakin and killed everyone that mentioned that Vader is in fact Skywalker.
I'm guessing sinc she was in the temple she probably saw Anakin slicing up Jedi and it was pretty obvious from then.
Far too early to say that it's a mistake, it's likely going to be explored.
My guess is that Anakin/Vader spared her life at the temple because he sensed the Dark Side in her and that’s why she knows, but also why she’s so faithful to him.
Yoda and Obi Wan know Vader is Anakin from the Jedi temple recordings (ROTS). I don’t think Reva told Obi Wan - I think she read his mind
A young Leia show based on Claudia Gray’s Princess of Alderaan would be incredible
I like that even without reaching out to Qui Gon, Obi Wan pulls a Liam Neeson and goes after Leia when she was... TAKEN.
Needle been doing spices since 80s
Reva IS a fomer youngling, and shes harboring a deep hatred for Anakin Skywalker after witnessing his slaughter in the temple. She's dug in deep into her dark side to fuel her vengeance. I think she wants Obi-Wan captured to secure herself an audience with Lord Vader, so she can strike him down.
...but we know who will be dying at the end of this series, dont we?
Did the other younglings save Grogu? That could explain how he ended up held up by that group later since they wouldn’t have the experience to keep him safe for long!
True, we only know Grogu was "taken" from the temple -- he could have been rescued, or he could have been stolen.
My money is still on Yaddle saving him, especially since we know she survived because of games. But it will be a fun reveal when it happens...
I would love a live action Cal Kestis, but I’d prefer him to appear in a finale post credit scene rather than appearing in the middle of the season
Really enjoy Revas anger. Def darkside user
The mini droid (toy?) the Leia has at her side seems to be inspired by the 1987 movie: Batteries Not Included
Any chance Leila’s outfit in the tree is reminiscent of her outfit in “Rebels” when she is moving the Hammerhead Corvettes?
Wasn't that customized Gameboy Advance in Obi-One's box? Staying long on that desert may be boring, a round of Pokemon Red is always a good time killer :D
It's also a nod to the older movies, where they used repainted everyday products to act as a futuristic device.
I love how Tatooine is like the westerns (and spegetti westerns) and Alderaan is like the hyper-futuristic, hopeful settings of 1950 sci fi. Almost Art Deco too?
I'm a HUGE fan of the Heavy Spoilers friendly rivalry!!! Great video btw
Thank you! I Love all of your videos!!!
6:38 I do not think it is a refrence to Tarkin. It is Obi-Wan himself who says "Now the Jedi are all but extinct." when speaking to Luke in New Hope.
Gotta say, agree with Ryan. Young Leia is awesome. Love me a smartass kid in shows, and she has nailed it so far.
She's almost as badass as Laura in 'Logan.'
The kid so so annoying and causes nothing but trouble
I'd like to say that the High Inquisitor was pretty patient, kind, and understanding to the locals as someone who's out to kill someone with no remorse. Am I WRONG?
a thing I only noticed when watching right now is that Leia´s clothes mimic the rebel X-Wing pilot´s uniforms. Neat
When she later puts on the green coat the outfit looks like in RotJ on Endor.
Flea’s female bounty hunter companion appears to be a Falleen, the race that controls the Black Sun criminal empire in the old legends canon.
I was thinking that too! Maybe it’s a shout out to SotE?
“The sound is different in the break room”
Continuity error fixed 😂😂😂
I think Owen trained himself to block his thoughts, and feelings, albeit ,it appeared that reva was beginning to sense something in owen when she was interrupt, and told to stop.
Or just learned from the Hutts and other gangsters to keep your eyes down and clear your mind or you might get shot.
Kenobiiii
Always great to see Spaced
11:41 the gameboy advance looking thing is the same prop Anikan was fiddling with in the "I feel lost" scene in Revenge of the Sith.
Cool. Hey, Obi Wan actually says "Now the Jedi are all but extinct" to Luke in ANH
