    Beautiful, it's the Costarican Police most common lights bar... But we have a problem, officers don't know the real use and meanings of the codes, and sometimes use the code 3 (4:54) for daily work 🤦🏻‍♂️

      Yeah, I have seen a lot of officers do that which baffles me.

    2:12 Common flashing pattern for RCMP while the newer fleets are using Whelen Century

      Nice, the Century lightbars felt like they were a combination of the Liberty style and Justice light bars just about but I know a majority of their newer style bars are going that way in looks/style.

    Is there a way to program the smart siren controller to allow you to select flash patterns on the fly with the 6 button controller.

    • @rjracing38
      @rjracing38  5 років тому

      What smart siren controller are you using? If you're using just the 6-button controller, then yes, I have a video showing how to program and select patterns on the 3 and 6 button controller. If you're trying to use a smart siren 2000 or something like that in junction with the interface module, there's a way to do that as well.

      @@rjracing38 the 14 button smart siren. I tried to find the function to do it when programming and couldn't.

      @@youngsid919 is it a newer style smart siren such as the Platinum model? I'm presuming the bar you're working with is a Legend like this one using cat5e cable for communications? I'm just trying to get an idea of your setup to give you the best advise I can.

      @@rjracing38 yes. The new smart siren platinum that uses the cat5 cable for programming via a laptop/desktop.

      @@youngsid919 ok perfect, I'm actually working on getting one of those to create a video to show how to program those, they are fairly easy from what I have read but it's very similar to programming the 6 button regarding pressing a couple buttons on the controller before powering up to get the computer to read the pad. I should hopefully be getting one within the next week or so to make a video for with step by step instructions to help.

    Federal makes bright lighbars but their flash patterns on linear bars are horrible. They can't figure out how to mimic true strobe pattern with LEDs like When, Tomar and Sound Off can. I think Tomar has the best strobe effect with LEDs followed by Whelen. FS just flashes them fast but it's not strobing.

      I agree, I like how Whelen on some of their new lightbars, they have the programs that alloows you to make your own patterns and such. Federal signal has their Platinum Series but their patterns are preselected that you can choose from and if you want your own style pattern, you have to send your device in and have their engineering team write the file for ou, least my experience has been that way.

      Also agree. Some FS patterns aren't bad, but Whelen patterns run circles around them. Haven't looked at Tomar patterns, but in terms of strobe effect, basic Whelen patterns like SignalAlert, ComAlert and especially CometFlash and LongBurst have great strobe effects. It'd also be nice if FS had a pattern like ActionFlash. I have a real soft spot for that pattern. The FS XStream has a pattern that's a bit like it and some that come close to a strobe effect, but you're spot-on; they just flash really quickly. FS patterns like Quad Flash and Quint Flash fall short. However, the patterns on the FS Valor look great! Wish that their Smart Bars were as customizable as WeCan bars though. Even the Whelen LC bars are more customizable. Not knocking FS; they make great equipment, but they need to step their game up a bit. They were the undisputed king of rotary bars and simpler siren systems, but they're falling behind other manufacturers these days. All about customization nowadays IMO.

      Si vis Pacem Para Bellum still awesome regardless...does your department use the hot-feet as well? Well if your department needs a replacement legend, I have a brand new 48" red and blue legend with the same features and patterns, minus the hot-feet and the rear isn't amber, it's still red and blue but the ta functions work the same.

    • @Viking_6_3

      rjracing38 yes we use the hot feet. makes a weird sound when traveling high speed.
      i think were phasing them out though. not many cars left that have them.
      mine has a few LEDs that dont like to turn on without slapping the bar pretty hard.

    • @rjracing38
      @rjracing38  7 років тому

      Si vis Pacem Para Bellum, I love the hot-feet, but a set below the full flood feature the newer bars are coming out with. I know that troubleshooting all to well, I've repaired several Legends including this one that were having those issues...just cold soldier joints cracking and losing connection after so much usage, it's rare the led itself goes bad.
