seeing xiu xiu perform this album live was the greatest musical experience of my life so far. i will never forget jamie stewart blasting a duck call during audreys dance
Passionnant ce voyage de Xiu Xiu "en Twin Peaks"! Exceptionnel. Le chef d'œuvre de Lynch et Badalamenti n'a pas fini de repousser les limites de la créativité et faire vibrer l'âme de notre nuit.
The very first time I heard this album, I put it on as I was going to bed. Fell asleep during it. Later I was woken up by lightning & thunder outside my window, just as the final track of this album was playing with that creepy fucking dialogue. I thought I was in a dream until I fully woke up.
This comment made me expect something terrifying... I'm disappointed, sounds like average power electronics. I'm a dark ambient fan though, makes sense.
It's pretty dark. The whole album here is very intense and cerebral. If you want to hear something really scary I'd recommend the albums "Absinthe" by Naked City and "Consume Red" by Ground Zero.
Murderotica I know Absinthe, I'll check the other, thx. Maybe you know "The Drift" by Scott Walker, this one's crazy. Also check everything from Megaptera and Archon Satani.
LANGOUSTE UH Scott Walker is a true freak- big fan of his work. The other two were new to me and I like what I hear! I used to binge on this dark avant-garde and atmospheric stuff in High School. It's fun to discover new artist of that calibre. If you're a fan of metal I'd definitely check out the album "I Don't Care Where I Go When I Die" by Gaza. That LP is fucking terrifying and heavy as hell.
I'm in love with this interpretation of the soundtrack. So many different emotions surface while listening to this. Wonder, anxiety, lust, fear, sorrow, passion. It's truly a masterpiece. BTW I'm a huge Angelo Badalamenti fan as well :)
Saw Xiu Xiu perform this entire album last year, and was one of the best gigs i'd been to. The whole gig even had the red curtains on the walls to set the theme of the Black Lodge (only thing missing was the zig zag floors)
I’ve never watched twin peaks or listened to the music from it (90’s & 2000’s were my scab bottoms, IYKYK) and didn’t take part in society much. I told my wife yesterday that Xiu Xiu covered them and she said, that be quite fitting
I wouldn't say the "tackiness" is intentional so much as a side effect of such an honest, naked, outpouring of emotions. And it perfectly reflects the show the score was made for; just honest and heartfelt, not a care in the world that some people may think of it as cheesy or soap opera-esque.
I'd sure enjoy a version of this better without all the distortion. I bought the WAV files thinking that the poor sound quality was a result of youtube, but the WAVs are also distorted, and there seems to be a kind of "bacon frying" sizzle on many of the tunes. Musically it's excellent, sonically... not so much.

It's like for years I've had an itch, at this one spot on my brain, and finally somebody scratched it.
Who would've thought the Twin Peaks soundtrack could be even more twisted
This is a crossover I would never expect to find, but I'm glad that it exists. Great garmonbozia
Jesus the last track is nightmare fuel.
...It's quite a fitting theme song to my life atm....

Gets intense at Blue Frank/Pink Room
Reading from Laura’s diary at the end.... 😢 So heartwrenching

Absinthe is really good actually. Sophia's Seduction of Madness and Demdike Stare's Tryptych are two of the scariest/best albums i've heard
Audrey's dance is my shit
Absolutely. I want a whole album in that style.
harold's theme is so haroldish... delicate, sad, quiet, bright

It's been far too long since I've re-listened to this. One of my favorite albums.
Saw this being played live at a cemetery.beautiful. Great job!
Blue Frank goes really hard OMG so apocalyptic
The vocals in the build up from 48:45 on is so good
Their rendition of dance of the dream man is blowing my mind.

I don't think you've ever previously mentioned the twins
this "into the night" version could definitely be a re-imagined battlestar galactica song
Weird shit, love it!
The. Best. Ever.
This sounds like if the original soundtrack was recorded in the Black Lodge
this comment section is refreshing after seeing fantanos.
these is so depresed but i like it i like it so so much.
A true masterpiece.
Nice
The first song sounds like a Murcof track. I love it!
I feel like I know her, but sometimes my arms bend back
This is my first experience with Xiu Xiu, I love it! what should I listen to to get into them after this? What's accesible?
Looking around you tube to see what Xiu Xiu you like is really all it takes , maybe try their cover of ceremony, it's my favorite

To be frank, I thought the original arrangement for the Twin Peaks was pretty tacky. This one is much better imo

ryandoyverypogi Yes, but so is the actual Twin Peaks soundtrack...
It isn't even. Some songs are.

the distortion is intentional...learn to appreciate what analog gear does to sound or we are destined to lose quality sound over years..
Then just listen to the actual Twin Peaks soundtrack
Your a fucking idiot
