The only issue with her constantly freezing herself is that she’s ruining the ice elemental’s reincarnation cycle. This makes ice users more of mages than actual elementals
I love they wrote Patience St. Pim and Urgence Evergreen to be two opposite sides of the same coin which has come to define Adventure time from the start of its timeline to the end. Every time they're put in a situation where they need to make a choice, they make the opposite choice of the other and receive the opposite outcome in turn. Urgence cared little for the other elementals, only wanting but not needing their strength, where Patience wants to get to know them as elementals on the same level. When the Lich was rearing to cause trouble, Urgence came up with a plan to destroy the comet, but Patience chooses to wait it out. When the other elementals rebuke their plans for the future, Urgence writes them off and sets out on his own, where Patience goes out of her way to ensure that they can master an understanding of their powers. And lastly, where Urgence Evergreen's downfall was a failure due to his own ego, Patience St. Pims ego was sacrificed when her final plan was too successful. In tandem, they embody an important idea in that when it comes to making decisions, you need to balance urgency and patience. Act to quick and you'll make mistakes due to an improper understanding, act too slowly, and the situation can escalate to the point where even a solution which would have worked perfectly will have too big of an impact if implemented after the delay.
Since patience never died, an ice elemental was never born, the crown made simon an ice mage but not an ice elemental and after she froze herself again there won't be another ice elemental till she thaws.
It was mentioned by Chatsberry that the elements reincarnate, and will continue to exist, over and over again. With this thought, it's clear that Ice King is not the incarnation of the Ice elemental, since Patience St. Pim never actually died in the first place. Symon became the Ice King because of the corrupted wish of the very first Gunther, which is to become like his master, Evergreen.
Yeah, that’s why he wasn’t affected by the spell and why I think he’s actually stronger than patience since he has the power of one of the strongest elementals strengthened by the wish of Gunther(ofc he never does use his full power cuz he doesn’t take anything seriously)
The crown holds more raw power as seen by its potential to freeze the entire planet for centuries, most likely since Gunther never really understood the actual skill and magic behind Evergreen’s abilities, so he viewed Evergreen as being more powerful than he really was
@@Eldersh1eld i think he probably doesnt have as much power as patience does tbh since gunther probably didnt see or think about the full extent of his power so the wish wouldnt give that much power either, just what gunther saw his power as and even if the crown did give him that much, who knows if he can even learn or remember how to use it correctly with how forgetful and scatterbrained he is
While Patience is a sleezeball, she is not villain. Rather, she is a misunderstood character with misguided goals. All Patience really wanted was to make friends with the Elementals so that she can help them train their Elementals and unlock their true potential of their powers but she did this the wrong way, meaning her intentions are good but the way she achieves them are wrong.
I feel like elementals in this universe were traditionally meant to rule and protect the world together like Evergreen and the other elementals, and that’s what Patience wanted. I also feel like in the “Elemental” episode Patience was just excited, and because the princesses weren’t given enough context they denied it. So she used a spell to turn them into who they are on the inside, this then accidentally resulted in the Princesses being overwhelmed by their dark sides. Then all of them used their overwhelmed powers to turn Ooo into candy, slime, fire and ice. In other words, Patience’s spell was never meant to turn Ooo into an elemental island, only for the princesses to accept their birth rights and befriend her (like her friends from her time).
Guess Patience's one mistake was not noticing that PB would master her element more than Patience herself. The fact that PB figured out the fundamentals of her powers before the ritual likely had a part in why PB could so very easily overpower every single elemental from Slime, to Ice, to even Fire. Heck, even when she wasn't technically trying she so easily managed to destroy the entire balance Patience had been so tirelessly crafting in the background.
I feel like patience has been down there for a while because her ice was different from ice kings ice so it could make sense why her surroundings were unaffected
Ive always Head-cannoned that the ice-crown is naturally attracted to the respective ice elemental of its era, giving a reason as to why the ice kingdom is built right over her and why the Ice thing never left
I don't think so, actually. The way she handled Finn and Jake during their fight was very effecient to the point that they didn't get the chance to take action. She probably would have frozen them immediately. It is like Jake said in _Cloudy,_ that had they not been out at sea during the chaos, the probably would have succumbed to the elements like everyone else.
She's the type of person who doesn't accept at all a change which she doesn't like and always wants to change the place however she likes, ignoring others' needs.
What makes it crazy is how she is actually present in the future of Ooo, specifically in the Ice Thing's lair in the opening in the future. Seem at 5:39 Both her and possibly Bubblegum still exist, while slime and flame princess died over that time. Which DOES make sense thanks to the episodes we had. For Patience, that is obvious considering she did it before. While for PB... Thanks to that lemongrab episode, we learned her age is based on how much candy mass she has. So a few snips of her body and blamo aged down. While marcy wouldn't have to deal with aging, thus neither one would have to die alone.
i always thought that was marceline because the telescope has the M/A (marceleine abedeer) symbol that she carves on the treehouse and also she's fully covered from the sun
There's also the spoon of prosperity. "peeps won't starve in my eternal empire." It's implied she plans to be around forever. As long as there's a small piece of her, she can be revived.
So Betty nearly decided to embrace insanity, both for the Ice King and herself. Which makes Simon's unhappiness after regaining his sanity even more tragic. The cruel irony is that embracing insanity would have allowed both of them to be happy. Which feels like a weird conclusion to come to, but here I am. 🙃
@keirasoragami8574 she tried, she knew her Simon won't be back and she tried to embrace him even if he's no longer the Simon she knew. But because patience's deeds Betty sacrifice herself to keep Simon safe.
Honestly, the saddest part of Patience St. Pim's story is that she'll probably never get what she's looking for. She won't get her elemental friends back because those versions of them simply don't exist anymore. She clings to the only thing that stays consistent, which are their elements, but WHO that individual embodying that elemental is will never be the same. And even if she tries that elemental purification spell again, it would either go wrong or, even if it does go right, she won't get her the companionship she was looking for. Her friends are GONE, she just can't accept that.
Damn just made me realise i actually missed a few of those episodes lol! Haven't seen Patience's first appearance, nor that moment when she freezes Betty. Good to know!
With the Fionna & Cake series out, its the perfect time for the return of Patience St. Pim. I haven't seen either of the 2 episodes yet, but I've heard nothing of Ice Queen, so if we're not getting the return of Ice Queen, then I want St. Pim at least.
I wish that Magic Betty and Ice King could've been happy together. They would never have what they once did, but it would've been nice than chasing what they couldn't have

I always wanted to get more insights on how Patience’s kingdom would be 🤔. Like Elsa maybe have snow/ice golems as security. Maybe the citizens would be smarter than other elemental creatures or more depressed? Or something. That would’ve been cool!
I wonder why put of the trio of Finn, Jake and BMO, why Finn was the last to succumb to an element, and it was one that's the exact opposite of what he stands for.
Finn was against fighting for violence sure but ultimately the hot-headed and fiery nature of the Fire Kingdom was something deep into his personality especially when he was immature so it was the element that he succumbed to despite how much he would've tried, Jake succumbed to Slime because he's a naturally chill and lazy dude who just wants nothing but to basically find Nirvana and be at peace which is kind of what the slime Kingdom offered, and BMO is candy because according to the Music Hole debut episode he is the embodiment of a person with childlike wonder and innocence which translates very seamlessly to the blissful nature of Candy. The interesting thing is that we didn't get anyone converted by Ice but Jake was close to because of how philosophical he is sometimes (or at least that's how I see)
I'm 2minutes into the vid, but I hope you don't mind. But isn't Ice king powers come from a wish granting crown that turns you into the previous ice elemental who was stronger then the other elementals of his time. I didn't watch the show just binged lore videos . How's he notably weaker?
The crown doesn't give him the power of Evergreen(said Ice elemental who created the crown) but turns him into gunther's view of him. Which is abusive and deranged. That's why Simon's(IceKing) gone mad over the past 900 years
Simon/IK doesn't have personal Elemental power, it comes from the crown which was corrupted by Dino Gunther's wish. So it's still a powerful magical object, but it's not the same as being an Elemental, especially when it also warps whoever wears it: who knows, it could have been more powerful if Urgence Evergreen had actually worn it himself.
Yeah usually Ice King is too dumb to fully use his ice powers, but he did give FP, an actual elemental, a pretty good fight that one time, he did lose but still pretty impressive.
I don't think anyone mentioned this but wouldn't she have been also restored to her original form after the events of elements Not that it matters at the end of the day but she would have become her ambitious self again
If she wasn’t so, you know, hell bent on the whole elementals thing, she and PB could’ve learned a lot from each other, both being geniuses, it would’ve been both awesome…and absolutely terrifying.
As far has how the Ice Kingdom actually came to be, it’s a fascinating though experiment. What are the requirements for each elemental’s participation in the world? Patience was still “around”, but how much was her being frozen in the ocean actually considered participation in the fundamental, global, influence of the elements? Is being an elemental even something that requires “participation”? Or something that just happens. Because, originally it’s easy to say Ice King created the Ice Kingdom, but, what if in his hundreds of years of wandering, the Ice Crown led him to the place he’d thrive the most in. A place where the ocean has started to freeze and large ice-mountains have erupted from the water. That would do. Now, to look at the flip side, what if Patience’s presence didn’t actually do anything other than draw Ice King towards where she lied, and that’s where he built the Ice Kingdom. Ice King’s “participation” and influence in the world is a fascinating implication because, Ice King is _not_ and elemental, but rather a pseudo-elemental. He’s a magical copy of a previous ice elemental, but not technically THE ice elemental. But, with Patience frozen in the ocean, perhaps he was a good placeholder.
I wouldn't be surprised if Patience sank into the ocean and it becomes the ice kingdom. If the continuity is correct, lemongrab(kingdom) is almost next to the Candy Kingdom, and is also adjacent to a broken down city
It really doesn’t matter if *you* believe that Patience is all their in the mind. She doesn’t need *your* approval anyways. She’s gonna start some crazy biz, yo.
She most likely connects to the Norse Isa (Ice) Rune's patience and preparation, along with not accepting how the world she used to know changed overtime.
Patience for me have prisoned psb for use the hour power in a other land, in the ending in the preson, you can look a purple hand and the capsule of patience
i always wondered if the ice king/ice crown was supposed to serve as some kind of universal substitute for the ice elemental during Patience's time frozen, chronologically her freezing herself would coincide with Simon beginning to use the crown,
i still dont know if patience is evil or just too silly either she activated the elementals for some unsaid evil purpose or maybe shes repeating/remembering what evergreen was like, or maybe she just wanted elementals back and got too carried away ontop of generally being a pretty ignorant and selfish person
Patience St. Pim and Sim Petrikov would make a great couple because if u really think about it. These two have very much in common: 1) They both bare the burden of failing to revitalize their timeline. Simon's world succumbing to the apocalypse of the mushroom war and Patience St. Pim had her timeline completely annihilated by the fate of the catalyst comet 2) They both have a fascination with science and high level of knowledge that tend to sometimes be misused 3) They both live in a century that is completely unfamiliar to them and have a hard time adapting to it These two characters had been thru and carry a lot of burden for what they've lost; suffering from clinical depression from being so out of date and losing their close ones who they so failed to protect. They suffer a lot with lonesomeness and can be looked at as crazy but really are heavily misunderstood and complex characters. Together they can much put they knowledge and science to good use. Both help each other out to keep up to date with the current timeline and traverse through worlds. These two would learn a lot from each other and would definitely develop a tight relationship
I love how her solution to every problem is "freeze myself for a thousand years". Honestly, valid.

That's why Simon's(IceKing) gone mad over the past 900 years
Watch the show
It's mainly due not to him not having the power but since he's ice King he's too crazy to utilise it to its fullest potential
I don't think anyone mentioned this but wouldn't she have been also restored to her original form after the events of elements
Not that it matters at the end of the day but she would have become her ambitious self again
In terms of setting up big developments for the show, she’s probably fourth behind, surpassingly that secret wizard society.
Patience also appears in Fionna and Cake. The “Ice Prince” that Fionna dreamt about is actually just a gender bent version of Patience St. Pim.
You're getting DANGEROUSLY close to 10k any day now 😊
🎵a kingdom of isolation and it looks like I'm the queen🎵
I just had to watch that today...🤦🏾♀️🤦🏾♀️🤦🏾♀️🤣🤣🤣🤣
Even in their chaotic states, it's still PB that is a crazy control freak that wants to take over the others
How can anyone forget the skooks
If she wasn’t so, you know, hell bent on the whole elementals thing, she and PB could’ve learned a lot from each other, both being geniuses, it would’ve been both awesome…and absolutely terrifying.
Did anyone else laugh when ice king said “do you know what this square footage means when I decide to sell?” 😂
I wonder if there was any influence on this from Bill Willingham's ELEMENTALS comic series in the 80's. Some interesting similarities.
Hmmm... could be...
@@paxw37 maybe a little FABLES too
I wouldn't be surprised if Patience sank into the ocean and it becomes the ice kingdom. If the continuity is correct, lemongrab(kingdom) is almost next to the Candy Kingdom, and is also adjacent to a broken down city
You should do a video about mr fox and why out of anyone he because the new death and why him basically being god?
Will do!
Ice Prince in Fionna and Cake has got to be based on Patience St. Pim
Hearing Massa by Tyler as the background is crazyyyy
Vids like these do pique my curiosity, I will have to give it watch .
Nitpick, 'awry' rhymes with 'eye', as with 'wry smile' or 'wry sense of humour.'
It really doesn’t matter if *you* believe that Patience is all their in the mind. She doesn’t need *your* approval anyways. She’s gonna start some crazy biz, yo.
Amazing video
Thank you so much!!!!
In an adventure time spinoff of Shermy and Beth I want to see Patience to find herself in the futuristic Ooo
She most likely connects to the Norse Isa (Ice) Rune's patience and preparation, along with not accepting how the world she used to know changed overtime.
she
is
AWESOME!!!!!
AGREED!!!
@@paxw37 why is she so awesome?
I think part of her brain was frostbitten during the last thousand years.
This video was great … they you dropped Tyler and I was even more satisfied
Patience for me have prisoned psb for use the hour power in a other land, in the ending in the preson, you can look a purple hand and the capsule of patience
Guys, is it wrong to think of an alternate universe where Patience is reincarnated to Simon (and possibly Betty)’s adoptive daughter?
i always wondered if the ice king/ice crown was supposed to serve as some kind of universal substitute for the ice elemental during Patience's time frozen, chronologically her freezing herself would coincide with Simon beginning to use the crown,
Adventure time lore be like: this is glumpus the gormed pir, glumpus is responsible for the big bang and slept with your mother
i dont know if that ice block is really patience st. pim. it seems just how the animators would draw a curved wall
It was confirmed by the writers of the show that was Patience St Pim in the intro of "Come Along With Me"
@@paxw37 dope! cant wait for the episode where patience st. pim wakes up another thousand years later
12:03 that line read sounds like Dr. Barber from Flapjack
everyones saying patience and evergreen and two sides of the same coin when their names describe their outlook on their problems or goals.
i still dont know if patience is evil or just too silly
either she activated the elementals for some unsaid evil purpose or maybe shes repeating/remembering what evergreen was like, or maybe she just wanted elementals back and got too carried away ontop of generally being a pretty ignorant and selfish person
Perhaps patience is like that because of the failures of the previous elemental.
She's so cool
Great video! Primo quality and content, awesome
Thank you so much!!
So the mother gum is the Remnants of the first original Gum element which survive somehow.
I love your chanel
I really wish they gave me more screen time to slime princess, now I know when she’s like part of the four elemental gods or something
Patience St. Pim and Sim Petrikov would make a great couple because if u really think about it. These two have very much in common:
1) They both bare the burden of failing to revitalize their timeline. Simon's world succumbing to the apocalypse of the mushroom war and Patience St. Pim had her timeline completely annihilated by the fate of the catalyst comet
2) They both have a fascination with science and high level of knowledge that tend to sometimes be misused
3) They both live in a century that is completely unfamiliar to them and have a hard time adapting to it
These two characters had been thru and carry a lot of burden for what they've lost; suffering from clinical depression from being so out of date and losing their close ones who they so failed to protect.
3:44 If you're saying "awry," it is pronounced "a-rye" (long i, as in "rye bread")
Yooo bro i really like your Thumbnails, what do you use to create them?
Thank you!! Photoshop
🎶its a humid night 🎶 the moon is getting full again🎶
I have one question we don’t get to see her I want toy see her again in a the future
I thought slime was happyness, and candy was fear (the fear of princess bubblegum to lose control)
