His scenes are what’s keeping me watching this season. A-train/ The deep and Black Noir are still entertaining too , the other characters are annoying.

Yet he watches The Acolyte and makes reviews of it but won’t watch a genuinely great show that is The Boys Season 4? I think the Drinker secretly loves bad shows now. What a joke he has become now, I unsubbed
The killer is the Frenchie subplot. Everyone hates it. His new love story comes out of nowhere, has zero connection and is clearly there for checking the gay box. Plus, it destroys everything he and Kimiko built up over 3 seasons.
That's actually a horrible way to check the "gay box". They basically ruined Frenchie by making him a complete psychopath, and at the same time they also introduce a psychopathic bisexual as a character
They built a friendship over 3 seasons. If you can't see a man-woman relationship as just friends, maybe you're the type of people the shows is making fun of.

Or read the comics or know anything about the story or have any political or media literacy and this is supposed to be a media critique channels. It blows my mind. This has got to be a scam like he's doing it for clicks. There's no way someone can make it through three seasons of the show and not know it is an absolute condemnation of conservativism. It's not even kind of subtle from the very first episode.

Ah Season 3, the season where everyone in the fandom tried to gaslight you into thinking you were the weird one for thinking the show was getting too political.
This is why South Park is so good even until now, their writing is not to push their own view of current event, but rather: what current event is trending now, then what story can be made out of it. And that's the key, story comes first!
@@HasiramaSenju-sd9fl South Park holds a mirror towards society and says Look at how bonkers everything is. Season 1 of The Boys seemed to do the same as South Park in that regard. Season 2 onwards seemed to say, 'people that we writers disagree with, are bad guys, look at our misrepresentation of it from a VERY leftist lens.' The difference is night and day. My issue is almost always about fair representation of what is going on. Season 2 onwards of The Boys is a strawman of their perceived opponents beliefs not their actual, beliefs.
“I think this show is now bad because people on the internet said it is and it suits my message to say it’s bad because of reasons so I’ll shill the message to my followers because they will accept what I say. I know I’m right so why bother doing the research?” Feels like this is exactly what you legitimately criticise others for? A shame and hopefully not a sign of things to come
This "review" by CD is pretty ridiculous. It's more grifting for an audience than an actual review, especially since he had not seen it, and wanted to sh*t out a review for "THE MESSAGE" he has built with his audience. To me, the first 3 episodes were kind of meh to okayish, but not great, which is probably why they released them all at once. The 4th episode was one of my all-time favourites and paid off the worst sub-plots in those first 3, and the 5th kept that great momentum going. I can definitely see why people on the right would review bomb on RT this season after the first 3 episodes. It's really not that surprising. The story seemed to take a backseat to the political satire which was really over-the-top and distracting (even for me who has no skin in the game for lefty/righty nonsense), and if your side was being offended that's to be expected for some people. His comments on the Eric Kripke interview were the only parts I agreed with. I thought that interview was a cluster f*ck with someone who claimed to care for "his" actors yet used the platform they perform on as his personal talking piece potentially putting the actors in the crossfire for his opinions rather than taking on the blowback himself. But that's just my opinion.
Where in the video title does it say review??? Oh yeah it doesn’t because it isn’t It’s Drinker talking about why he will not be watching or reviewing because people keep asking when he’s going to do that
Yeah I really like the direction this season is going in so far. Homelander and Sage quietly plotting to build their Supe-supremacy empire. It feels like the clock is ticking before the world changes forever
The thing is, why does everything now has to be a "political satire of both sides" or a "take or one side or another"? why cant it just be a NORMAL superhero tv show with no politics at all, that everyone can enjoy, like the ones they used to do years ago, its honestly so tiresome at this point.
So you went through audience reviews, used them as examples instead of forming your own thoughts for different parts of the show, and you didn't even watch the season?

Because solder boy is way stronger and literally experimented on for years for that purpose? What point are you even trying to make? And Soldier Boy was the villian he killed indiscriminately. So yea he has more kills thats the point he is unstable and not a good solution to the problem his kills are nothing to brag about.

It’s has become repetitive and keeps retreading the same story in more boring ways but it used to be fun. The characters are not changing and are getting quite stale. There are various reasons but politics is not why it has declined. Season 3 people had these complaints like me but no one listened because they like the show. Stormfront is all I’ll say about the new season as one example of them retreading old ground in a more boring less entertaining way. The story feels like it’s getting dragged out.
Since the end of season 1, not a single character is changing for the better. Frenchie, starlight, hughie and MM’s characters have been massacred. None of them genuinely have a purpose in the show right now. Butchers story is weird this season. I have no clue where it’s going or where they even want it to go. Homelander and Ryan’s relationship is just not being done well at all. The motivations and dynamics aren’t really convincing. And the story for Annie and Firecracker is laughable. The most interesting motivation for firecracker is Annie called her a slut? That’s supposed to be interesting to the viewer?
The show is just repetitive. The writers clearly don’t know what to do with the characters, so they’re just inventing new subplots to give them something to so.

The Boys: "Go watch something else." Doctor Who: "Go Touch Grass." Disney Acolyte: "Don't like it. Don't watch it." Me: "Something tells me that's not a way to advertise a product......."
In context, that's actually kind of how advertising is supposed to work. You only care about your target audience, people outside that demographic can "watch something else". With this kind of advertising, you can appeal more to your target audience by creating the impression that it's tailored for them. For example, there are Men specific grooming brands like shavers. Their advertising is effectively telling women, who are roughly half the population, to "use something else", even though it probably would work for them as well. Not everything has to have mass appeal, the problem comes when your key demographic are the people that you're alienating. Star wars is guilty of this.
Yes guys, the show is bad because it only caters towards one side! Thankfully this reviewer here is there to tell us the truth by only going off of rotten tomatoes, not watching the show and only talking about the show in hyperbole! Not to take away from the fact that they only show the clips of the show where there is a fight scene, making it look like the show is just a blown up soap opera with meaningless drama! The show shouldn't cut its viewers in half, unlike this reviewer who has become subjective enough to not even watch the show! Let's piss on the creator for answering back to all the horrible takes on the show because it shows they're not willing to change, while this reviewer likes every comment praising them/hating on the show and doesn't interact with any constructive criticism!
As a show fan, I had to look this up, because I've been seeing all these comments about vague information with little to no evidence. So, I did my due dilligence and decided to do a little research because this seemed wrong to me. There are 2 writers who worked on both Breaking Bad and Season 1 of The Boys. That would be Anne Cofell Saunders and Sam Catlin. Since you said 'He' I can only assume you mean Sam Catlin. Now what you do not seem to know, because clearly you just read some article headline, is that Sam Catlin left Season 1 of The Boys because he was busy with his other project 'Preacher' and was going through the motions of trying to wrap up a 4 season series so he could not write in Season 2 of The Boys. Not only that, but before season 3 of the boys, he was signed to Apple Inc. under a contract so that is yet another reason he could not do writing on The Boys. So yeah, you're right, one of the writers did drop out of Season 1, but it is not for the reasons you are trying to imply. 🤓 Enjoy The Boys, Boys.

As a writer, One of the biggest things you must accept as a writer, that none of fucking hollywood can, is that if your work is subtle, people will derive whatever message they want from it because it speaks to them, be it what you intended or not. Being overt in your message, though, will make it to where nobody derives anything from it (and usually the only people who like it are already die hards for whatever opinion you're preaching). Writing is a neutral force that when done well lets people take what they need from it. Not this supreme force of good and justice that hollywood writers with their heads up their asses think it is.
I think they are not being subtle anymore because they get the sense that they have succeeded in selling their ideas to a large enough base of people. So much so, that the old normal audience with normal common sense values is now a minority in their eyes. That is also likely why they boldly say ‘go and watch something else if you don’t like it’, because they believe that they are now firmly in the majority. They further convince themselves that it is the case even when they see audience scores drop by claiming that it is bots or simply a vocal minority etc. My guess is that there is a good chance they are not too far off the mark that they are the virtual majority now. They have instilled most of these values to most of the younger generations already through schools. If you look at critics, people like critical drinker are pretty much absent among them. Same with the media in general. So they think they have won. Also, it should be said that audiences should have been more careful about what they watch. As soon as they saw some piece of entertainment trying to sell them ideas against their values through subtle elements in entertainment, they should have lashed back. As we see today, it always starts subtle until it becomes the beast it is today.
Beside the Frenchie subplot this new season has been mostly good so far. The recent episode 4 is honestly one of my favorite episodes of the entire show.

One of the problems I have with the "satire" is it isn't a genuine caricature... it's a caricature of a strawman. Then they accuse anyone who has a problem with the depiction of being upset with their side being caricatured at all instead of what they're really upset about which is the underlying presumption that the strawman being parodied represents their views.
"Satire is a form of comedy which exaggerates and mocks aspects of reality, as such - writing effective satire requires having an understanding of what reality is. This is something all leftists lack, so the effectiveness of satire suffers for it."
Drinker lasted longer than I did. Somewhere around episode 3 in season 2 I have up on "The Boys". For me it was similar to the arc "Mr. Robot" went down. The creativity was used up early, and then the show became way too self-congratulatory, trite, and nudge nudge wink wink, we're the good guys so it will all work out. There were no real stakes any more.
Oh boys... another showrunner tells people to watch something else and then is upset that no one is watching the show. A perplexing mystery to be sure.
The viewership is at an all time high which precisely means that other than the conservative folks trying so hard to cope with them being made fun of everyone else is actively watching this season
Just throwing in a gay character doesn’t make the show “woke”. The show makes fun of woke culture all the time and it’s hypocrisy, probably my favorite being the Blue Hawk/A-Train arc where they clown on corporations involvement on BLM and how ineffective the moment was at addressing actual racism. It’s a political commentary. The show makes fun of everyone. BLM, Woke culture, MAGA culture, mega churches, Big Pharma, influencer culture, workplace harassment etc..
He said that right before S4 itself dropped. Its clearly a ploy to redirect all the incomming critique for Frenchie into this "haha, right winger who idolizes Homelander" box.
Good example of gaslighting. Absolutely no one thought he was a good guy. They just didn't see him as right wing or left wing. He was a psychopath obsessed with his celebrity image. Hollywood is filled with people like that...Hollywood is not exactly right wing.
Timeless quote from G.K. Chesterton that has become especially timely: "A good novel tells the truth about its hero. A bad novel tells the truth about its author." Here's looking at you, Hollywood. EDIT: A THOUSAND LIKES! THANK YOU!!
I really need to get around and read this guy. Every quote I see of his is gold. I also want to write the rest of that quote: "It does much more than that, it tells us the truth about its readers; and, oddly enough, it tells us this all the more the more cynical and immoral be the motive of its manufacture." If that doesn't describe the shills who eat this slop, nothing else will.
Thought I'd give Drinker the benefit and rewatched his vid, but this is still giving me Mary Whitehouse circa 1981 vibes; "This horror film is deplorable ... Did you watch the whole film, ma'am? ... Well, no, but I still think its deplorable" ... *sigh*
I am curently rewatching season 3. They set up frenchie and kimiko so hard. And in season 3 somehow he's into guys now and kimiko says: "We are not happening..." It feels forced and out of nowhere. Also it seems like every episode is now doing one shocking scene after another. Either it is "how brutal can we make this" "how sick can we make this" or "how dirty can we make this" and it'S getting stale and boring. They should have focussed on story telling
Did you watch season 3 till the end? By the end of the season they had already decided they wouldn't work as a couple and that they are more like siblings than lovers. Also, bi people exist. You can like both man and woman and it was already heavily implied in season 2 that he once had a relationship with Jay, so nothing new here. The biggest mistake a storyteller can make is forget that they’re telling a story

Homelander is the most INTERESTING character. There's a difference. Just like Darth Vader was the most interesting character in the original Star Wars saga. It doesn't automatically mean that people consider him the "hero". It's just that the show wouldn't be nearly as interesting without him.
Yeah, it was just nice finally having a well written, complex villain. Just like Butcher was a well written, complex hero.

Rotten Tomatoes is the most biased and unreliable of reviews. “How could you think that an actor who was a good actor be good, they deserved their fate for being white.”
The key difference is that if the point of your story is "The Joker is a Monster," and your audience is full of people who say "The Joker is a Hero," instead of "The Joker is a Good Character," then you may really feel that your work is putting out exactly the kind of message you intended it to not have. It’s has become repetitive and keeps retreading the same story in more boring ways but it used to be fun. The characters are not changing and are getting quite stale.

In context, that's actually kind of how advertising is supposed to work. You only care about your target audience, people outside that demographic can "watch something else".
With this kind of advertising, you can appeal more to your target audience by creating the impression that it's tailored for them. For example, there are Men specific grooming brands like shavers. Their advertising is effectively telling women, who are roughly half the population, to "use something else", even though it probably would work for them as well.
Not everything has to have mass appeal, the problem comes when your key demographic are the people that you're alienating. Star wars is guilty of this.

Where does it say this is a review genius?
As a writer, One of the biggest things you must accept as a writer, that none of fucking hollywood can, is that if your work is subtle, people will derive whatever message they want from it because it speaks to them, be it what you intended or not. Being overt in your message, though, will make it to where nobody derives anything from it (and usually the only people who like it are already die hards for whatever opinion you're preaching).
Writing is a neutral force that when done well lets people take what they need from it. Not this supreme force of good and justice that hollywood writers with their heads up their asses think it is.
Yes.
That’s why anime like One Piece is so good. It doesn’t treat the audience like babies and makes their themes and messages subtle.
Does everything have to be LGBTQ?
My god... Is nothing sacred?

The Critical Drinker - How To Destroy Your Audience
One of the problems I have with the "satire" is it isn't a genuine caricature... it's a caricature of a strawman. Then they accuse anyone who has a problem with the depiction of being upset with their side being caricatured at all instead of what they're really upset about which is the underlying presumption that the strawman being parodied represents their views.
"Satire is a form of comedy which exaggerates and mocks aspects of reality, as such - writing effective satire requires having an understanding of what reality is. This is something all leftists lack, so the effectiveness of satire suffers for it."

For me it was similar to the arc "Mr. Robot" went down. The creativity was used up early, and then the show became way too self-congratulatory, trite, and nudge nudge wink wink, we're the good guys so it will all work out.
There were no real stakes any more.
Exactly
Thank you! Such an accurate description of part of the reason for the anger here.
Can you give an example of such caricature? Everything that was satired seemed pretty realistic
Oh boys... another showrunner tells people to watch something else and then is upset that no one is watching the show. A perplexing mystery to be sure.
21% viewership increase over season 3 and one of the biggest season premiers in Amazon history.
The viewership is at an all time high which precisely means that other than the conservative folks trying so hard to cope with them being made fun of everyone else is actively watching this season
@@shigeo__and rings of power was the most watched show of all of Amazon prime. 😂
Cope harder 👆🏻👆🏻 you two the actual title for the highest viewed show on Amazon is The Terminal List!! 😂
@@shigeo__ kid rings of power was too the most watched show in all mazon prime....
So, you didn’t even watch the episode, and just reviewed the reviews, which are mostly opinion based. What kind of critic does that?
Just throwing in a gay character doesn’t make the show “woke”. The show makes fun of woke culture all the time and it’s hypocrisy, probably my favorite being the Blue Hawk/A-Train arc where they clown on corporations involvement on BLM and how ineffective the moment was at addressing actual racism.
It’s a political commentary. The show makes fun of everyone. BLM, Woke culture, MAGA culture, mega churches, Big Pharma, influencer culture, workplace harassment etc..
"Some people who watch it think Homelander is the hero"
Literally nobody thought that.
Left wing view point for ya lol. Completely f'ing random and nobody thought that.
He said that right before S4 itself dropped. Its clearly a ploy to redirect all the incomming critique for Frenchie into this "haha, right winger who idolizes Homelander" box.
@@Ownyx Is all you guys do whine about "left wingers"?
Good example of gaslighting. Absolutely no one thought he was a good guy. They just didn't see him as right wing or left wing. He was a psychopath obsessed with his celebrity image. Hollywood is filled with people like that...Hollywood is not exactly right wing.
@@OwnyxWhat are you yapping about?
Timeless quote from G.K. Chesterton that has become especially timely:
"A good novel tells the truth about its hero. A bad novel tells the truth about its author."
Here's looking at you, Hollywood.
EDIT: A THOUSAND LIKES! THANK YOU!!
Boom!
I don’t get it
Double boom!
Whoosh!
I really need to get around and read this guy. Every quote I see of his is gold.
I also want to write the rest of that quote:
"It does much more than that, it tells us the truth about its readers; and, oddly enough, it tells us this all the more the more cynical and immoral be the motive of its manufacture."
If that doesn't describe the shills who eat this slop, nothing else will.
GUYS GUYS GUYS I don’t think he’s watched the show
Thought I'd give Drinker the benefit and rewatched his vid, but this is still giving me Mary Whitehouse circa 1981 vibes; "This horror film is deplorable ...
Kimiko and frenchie is set up so hard they have to get kimiko to comment on the shit in season 4
I'm not the biggest fan of this season, but most of the arguments people are giving to hate it are so dumb.
he was always bi sexual dude.
@@whiteshadow0122why is the counter to the Frenchie thing always "did you see in season 3 when they said they're friends"
BRO that's literally part of what people are complaining about, with season 4 just being a continuation of that complaint. Like your "counter" is stating that the thing he's complaining about exists!
@@whiteshadow0122 plus he's French, so people shouldn't be surprised that he's a bit glay
Getting all poopy at your audience for not liking your show and telling them to not watch it has always been a winning strategy. Keep it up, Hollywood.
how is saying " I dont care" the same as "getting poopy at your audience". You people want to be victims so bad you even take indifference as an attack lmao.
The difference is people will still watch the boys😂😂😂 If anything just for lack of something better
