It's crazy we moved into minimalism as screens became capable of high definition displays.
Easier to make and adapt interfaces = less time spent on developing and more $$$. Unfortunately we live in a greedy world.
Everything looked like bubbles. Bubbles were finally rendered in a way that looked realistic. Same deal with water effects like ripples, splashes, and waves.
@@fidelkva4810 It's burned into my memory from early childhood. I remember seeing this face every time i booted up the family's Mac and watching that bar load all the programs. I remember the sound Macs used to make when they turned on too. I remember when the Apple logo had more color to it. :)
Cartoons on tv started focusing more on the future once the year 2000 hit. Suddenly there was a lot more space travel, time travel, aliens, and robots. Music that played on those channels and the clothes people wore in commercials and sitcoms followed trends from that time period. For being over 20 years ago, it still feels futuristic to me.
it feels like every few decades there seems to be a huge interest for the future (like the jetsons)
@JacksonHolloman-cn8ew Frutiger Aero is pretty much that, enjoying the outdoors. Granted it was what we imagined the outdoors being before global warming reared it's ugly head.
Apple implemented flat design on iOS 7. This is the reason why iOS 6 has a great community and nostalgia.
iOS 5 kept the nostalgic water droplet background from iOS 4 while making much of the same performance improvements as iOS 6 in the case of mostly all iDevices which supported both.
Idk why, but frutiger aero makes me feel comfortable, frutiger metro makes me feel claustrophobic and trapped and extreme minimalism makes me feel lonely
Because frutiger aero was intentionally designed as a corporate art style to contrast against the oppressive media landscape in the early-ish iraq war period, and to offer technology as something not boring, but freeing.
Metro was more of a reflection of reality because of the flat ui styles
Then the recession hit and for a while no one wanted to have too much of stuff, or be overloaded because consumerism and over the top designs became less cool
Your talking about Metro not Frutiger Metro which is very different.
@@reformedbroski8988 how'd _you_ know whether they were talking about frutiger metro or not? all they said is that it makes them feel bad
@matex_e And what? Atleast Frutiger Metro have some details (compare to Minimalism).
The previous 4 years were really dark... Covid, wars, breakups, breakdowns, lot of suffering. Everything around is so black. And I have to say it despite that I'm a fan of black and darkness. I wear a lot of black by myself - I listen to metal music. But after those years of crazy shit in my life I wanna bring some colors back into my life. I had to deal with depression, addiction, psychical problems and a toxic relationship. Now it's gone and I wanna bring some joy into my life again, bring some Frutiger aero mindset...
Is like that after a period of conflict. First was the International Typeface, then was this.
We also need 2000s web designs to come back.
PLEASE BRING FRUTIGER AERO BACK!!!
frutiger aero is so much better than minimalism, and companies think we want to see a man made by a rectangle and a circle saying that their product is worth buying
actually, minimalism (metro) and frutiger aero can actually work together really well, for example, type "windows 8 build 8056"
I remember when Windows 7 was peak UI design. I hated Windows 8's simplistic design since day one
hey, the lady that rps like it's the 1950's is living her life the way she wants to and I'm here for it
don't knock her
I go to school with a guy who does it, people started calling him Grease Lightning and he’s a super cool dude
My library recently remodeled and they made it look so frutigar aero, I love it! It’s a nice balance because they have some really frutigar aero sections but then they have some nice calming wood sections. It’s a nice balance and is really calming :)
5:55 Slight correction, it was IOS 7 with the flat redesign. You may be getting confused with the iPhone 5 that dropped the same day.
11:23 Pepsi recently changed their logo to something that’s got more detail to it. I think it’s an interesting reinterpretation of one of their older logo designs.
It doesn’t really have more detail, it’s still flat. It’s the same logo as the one they used from the 60’s to the late 90’s, but uglier.
I remember when minimalism started to become mainstream. I thought it was cool and different at first, but I’ve despised it pretty much ever since.
I WANT THE FUTURE WE WERE PROMISED 🗣 I WANT THE FUTURE OF THE PAST 🗣
i love to combat minimalism by making my computer look more like windows 7
The time is NOW
THE WALKING STICK ERA IS HERE😂
this is so well edited!! i'm so glad it's coming back because just seeing it gives me such an nostalgic feeling.
The only way to get back our frutiger aero style is for more people to share and upload more about it
That would only happen if, and _only if_ , the style in question is pushed forward beyond niche circles like these.
It would be feasible, but in the current social state we're in, it can be improbable.
as a lover of the 80 and 90's and fruitiger aero aesthethic i means as everything creative and colorful, i love that peoples are getting the love for it and that it's slowly merging back..
what i hate now is that everything i wanted to buy as an kid like an ibook G3 cost almost a salary
but we can't have everything, thanks for the video !!
I have a prediction. I think the shift into complexity will probably be really slow. Curves and using nature are already coming back in style. Look at the living wall, succulent trends. Next is going to be wider color pallets, the rise in gradients and color themes, rather than dull simple colors, and more shapes, maybe more lines and abstractions too.
The futuristic frutiger style hit so different
I like these dreamy 90s and 00s styles and I’m really into the aesthetic of vaporwave as well
The iMacs were the beginning of the whole Y2K Aesthetic imo. They came out in the late 90s right around the time Nintendo started doing the same thing with Game Boy Colors and N64 consoles. Being able to pick any color you wanted and having it be transparent really felt futuristic, not to mention the shape of the monitors for the iMacs were so cool! Plus you had the keyboard and mouse to match! That to me had a lot of influence over the design of a lot of tech back then, even knock off ones.
I felt years ago that the more people started hating this turbo minimalism stuff, the more people would start to rebel against it by starting a maximalist revolution, making stuff 10x more convoluted just as an F U to the companies using their super boring commodified corporate art style.
Can't believe this has so few views, very well written video
Oh my gosh you were right I literally just got to ads that looks like it's from 2007 that sayed "stop overpaying for CABLE"
Thank you very much for using the dope as hell “Yo-Yo-Yoshi!” song from Yoshi’s Story. Hearing it again after all these years brightened my day and brought back memories of great times playing the game and chilling with friends. You’ve definitely earned a subscriber here due to your excellent taste. 😃
5:57 you mean iOS 7 bro. iOS 6 and before used skeuomorphic design, and 7 introduced the major visual overhaul of flat and simplistic 😁
Neumorphism is just added depth to flat design, it really does look more “Fisher-Price” than even skuemorphic design.
that and your profile picture reminds me of those complaints about windows XP, windows xp ruled
i think its kind of a lame aesthetic, more of an insult than anything. it just looks like we have those same awful flat designs but now they're 3d. nothing else is that different, and while its a sign of us moving away from flat design i highly doubt itll stick as THE new aesthetic. i hope. all it reminds me of is the models they use in modern kroger ads, which suck. just cause it looks 3d doesnt mean we're there yet etc
I thought it was just me nitpicking that saw the new Apple icons and Microsoft Teams emojis as "not quite skeuomorphic", but you really summed it up there
They don't look real, they look like they were made in a 3D modelling software and don't hit that same feel that classic skeuomorphism really does for me
@@walkingonneedles you want a forced return of '07's popcultural codas, eh?
Finally After 11 Years Its Time For The Frutiger Areo Comeback 2024 The Year Of Frutiger Areo
minimalism has a "we are happy right now and the only thing that matters is that im happy right now" feel
while aero has a "the future is looking bright and the more we work the closer we can get to it" feel
i actually have my android home set to look like glass and i have a theme app on windows that will change it to windows 7. the only reason aero looks dated is because the low resolution and cheats from slow computers. we have faster computers and higher resolutions we can totally make aero look amazing.
also BRING BACK THE WINDOWS FLAG WE WILL NOT STAND FOR THIS BOX NONSENSE!!!
The digital style that defined much of my 00s highschool years.✌🏿😉
What's interesting is how the whole point of minimalistic, clean design was to make the experience easier for users but sometimes these companies make their UI so over simplified and diminished of any sort of design you actually can't use it as easily as if it was colorful and detailed!
0:05 Shoutout to that island called cyprus over there :DD
got it from NASA, all their photos and videos are public domain, at least for tax paying Americans
We are so back!
loving everything about this video! the scenes, the script, the delivery.. awesome! thanks for making this video brotato chip
I was expecting a video essay about the evolution of frutiger aero and other early 2000's aesthetics but I love how scatterbrained this is
Well done vid mate 💜
fact is, the 3d style that frutiger aero and 2000's web design had WAS ALREADY IN VECTORS! a lot of companies just wanted a simpler, cheaper, and easier way to produce bigger portions of media in the same amount of time. for example
1 frutiger aero icon can take the same amount of time as 10 flat icons. AND it can be done cheaper due to less recourses being used in the process.
I doubt big companies will go back to frutiger aero. They save so much money on graphic design with the minimalistic art that they can shit out real quick they’ll always see it as a net positive
what a high quality video, good job man!
Correction. IOS 6 was the last to have a glossy design, it was replaced by the flat IOS 7 in September 2013.
millions must appreciate frutiger aero, billions even.
Absolutely beautiful singing.
Don’t trap yourself into making just Jojo videos!
Awesome video!!!! The good times are coming back!
YEEEEEEEES FINALLY FINALLYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY
btw VERY GOOD VIDEO.
why are you not so popular?? i was thinkin' you have like ~1-2million subscribers, but HELL NAW BROOOOOOOO
I was scratching my head trying to figure out what the walking stick bit was an ad for.
We don’t even know if Frutiger Aero will return. This is just speculation, I think.
I thought this video was awesome! I am a XR Developer, and found your video, unique and insightful. I’ve seen many creators make videos about this subject, but I find that yours was the most unique out of all that I have watched. ❤❤ glad I found this and glad I found your channel by watching it. 🎉
YES anything other then minimalist style.
soon, your "less popular videos" will become monumentally popular ones. production quality and content is insanely good
I am waiting in a T-Mobile right now, and I can literally see the effects of frutiger aero! I can see that this style is coming back!
1:52 Tbh I think that is just like a dude reading a magazine or the newspaper on the toilet like the previous generations done ngl lol.
Yes please. I've been sick of soulless depressing flat designs for over 10 years.
the script was very well written!
"yeah man, you can totally click that button now" perfectly summarizes my favorite part of frutiger aero
Glad this showed up on my page!
This is a great and insightful video, I'm shocked that you don't have more views and subs. Please keep it up, I'm excited to see more content from you!
I never really liked 2010s-20s minimalism bc it just felt so soulless so I'm really glad things are beginning to look more maximalist now
@@hamiltonseggsgaming69 it got big around 2013-14 and is still present so i guess kinda
I love fruitiger aero because it is highly motivating, good for mental health, makes you happy, and it gives you something to fight/work for, being our planet
The effect of flat minimalism has had me so deeply upset with it that I genuinely got happy when I noticed the bubbles on the instagram notes feature gained shadows and became somewhat 3D. it looks so nice!! Also, the idea of younger generations bringing back old trends is so true, which gives me so much hope for future web desgin and marketing. If this many people of our generation are this worried about it, I'm sure It will go in the direction we hope it will. Also, this totally reminded me of how we had a "decades" day at my highschool for spirit week and so a lot of girls wore bellbottom jeans, while afterward, on free dress days I noticed they CONTINUED to opt for the flared jeans. It was pretty cool to see tbh
this is so underrated! the 20 year thing is so true
well researched. I like it that you younger people show interest in the 2000s. There is so much to discover
Frutiger Aero is an extremely fun and refreshing aesthetic! Love the amount of research put into this video.
Frutiger Aero as a search term in google trends is up almost 200% in the past month! And has beat the search term of "modernism"
yes yes yesss im sick of minimalism its so soulless
One criticism I have about the video would be the title and thumbnail of the video. The video is a good dive into fruitger aero, but the title focuses more so on the aspect that frutiger aero is back. It makes the video feel detached from the main point the title and thumbnail gives off since it was only a small talking point at the very end of the video. Otherwise a good video!
I’m right there with you, the balance between clickbait and value is always in my mind when designing thumbnails/titles, and I actually had a more appropriate thumbnail for a bit but my click thru rate went down by about half, so I switched it back. Maybe I’ll switch it again if the viewcount or something else can make up for that 50%
I feel like color gradients could become another big design trend, specifically for UI. Like the new Instagram logo for example. A mix of Frutiger Aero, flat design and color gradients could look great.
I never understood why minimalism became popular it was literally effortless way to make graphics
The Fruits Of Aero Will Soon Be Eaten.
unpopular opinion: Frutiger Aero become so overrated by popularity amongst the people and not by the aesthetic itself
if it was just frutiger aero dying out i wouldnt be so mad, a new and also good style would come in and replace it, but what makes mad is what we GOT instead, minimalism
im just waiting for minimalism to die out for ever, and to have a bright future with nothing but good aesthetics (y2k... frutiger aero.... and a large etc...) taking over
This is extremely insightful and to the point! This gives me hope.
you better have hope man im tellin you this era will make a huge comeback in 2024 you have my word. trust me. the future is near the future will be great... the fututre will be peaceful we worked for that future... we did everything we could for that future but we didnt get it.... but we will get it someday.... trust me. we will
3D is 150% becoming the new corporate aesthetic, and apart from us having the power to bring back frutiger styles, we have the power to fix the world and achieve an actual paradise with renewable resources and amazing technology. AKA, the future we were promised
I AM WATCHING THIS ON THE TOILET!!
In a comment section in a video said that the early 2000s will come back!
He or she was right!🥺🥹
i think this newer approach of vector-based graphics that have depth (like windows 11 icons, glassmorphism, etc.) is great! a legitimate drawback of traditional skeumorphism is that it's hard to scale appropriately and hard to make dynamic on-screen. newer approaches bring back that character that skeumorphic interfaces had, which was lost with flat design.
i think an interesting next step would be actual 3D icons and materials beyond just blurred backgrounds (metallic in VR, for example, or maybe refractive effects like those privacy screens on doors).
3:32 DUDE is that the banjo and tooije circus theme? 😂
YES FRUTIGER AERO
agreed with most of the comments and I also think that your video is pretty reasonable and was simply fun to watch ;3 I fckin love and live in frutiger aero world no matter what 🙏💯💋💋🔥🔥🗣🗣
So happy I found your channel, somehow you talk about all of the things I'm interested in
this video is so fucking underrated i love it
This aged like milk
I really missed this style from Ios 6 and Windows Vista on my first computer that I have so many memories with playing the sims 3 and flash games (super mario 63) :) glad to see it coming back!
Windows vista is SO back
WOOOO Yeah baby that's what i been waiting for, that's all about
_[BIGGER AND BETTER THAN EVER!!]_
MAXIMALISM MAXING!
Extremely well produced video. Its gonna do numbers. Right place and time.
Dark Frutiger Aero looks so damn cool
its making a slight comeback.... but i rlly hope it doesnt die again........well i mean it is everything dies... but i want it to last longer this time. i wanna make the most of it this era brings me joy and happiness and i love it even tho i was born in 2009 i still find this kinda nostalgic the world looked so bright back then everything was colorful and man... everything is bland and boring now.
enjoy these videos because they’re the last bastion if frutiger stops growing
Right after you mentioned us rejecting AI art I got an ad for a generative AI service. 💀
I Love Neumorphism And Frutiger Aero
I'm kinda sick of minimalism so seeing Frutiger Aero slowly creep back makes me happy. Not only on phone interfaces but in furniture design and also clothing.
minimalism was always crappy, of all styles flat/minimalist was the one with the most backlash. it isnt cuz we have nostalgia but cuz minimalism is timelessly bad.
I prefer minimalism. Cope
Can't agree more
Frutiger Metro might be better for you
I think minimalism is great for stuff like tracking your health or google maps. But that’s it
