Looks great I love the idea of laying down a small bead of seam sealer 1st to make sure you have all the voids and stuff filled before you make it look pretty!
Wow that’s awesome. Always wondered how people got them to look so “factory”. One question, my rep says to always keep the static mixing tip in the puddle of caulk coming out of the cartridge? No?
Jon thanks for your feedback a comment like this is great for the channel! 1) It depends on the seam sealer your using. 2) Personally I believe most of the air bubbles come from the gaps in the panels that’s why we seal the panel gaps first. I have seen air come out of cartridges as well but how would that help if the tip is submerged we would just put more air in the middle of the sealer. 3) We like to use a spreader for this so the seam sealer we use is not considered to be a 100% flowable product. That thicker consistency allows us to use a spreader and be able to build it up with no air pockets. Thank You your feedback Jon Smith it is very appreciated here at the channel!
@dealerauctionnightmare4689 It could also be the windshield seals. These years are notorious for windshield leaks. I'm filling all the ditches on my 01's roof as well as pulling the windshield to re-do the seals this winter. Mine leaks bad
I’ve heard this a few times.. Just still a little uncomfortable about using it on a critical area like that..Do you use it over epoxy primer? I wonder if that’s ok..5887 is flexible not sure if it’s as flexible as a seam sealer..I will only use an epoxy primer on that roof ditch i have seen too many rust. Could be the sealer could be the primer old products who knows..
@@automotivealchemy4983 yes over epoxy primer for sure. I have done it many times. It’s is awesome it is approved for seam sealer and semi flowable so it fills in low areas and levels area. Easy to sand if necessary. 3M actually recommends it for that application. It is not as runny as self leveling seam sealer where a dam is necessary. This product flows out a little and then stops. Awesome product.

Thanks! Makes perfect sense. That’s kind of why I asked. The stuff we use runs all over the place. I’m gonna have my boss order some a yours
@@jonsmith120 did you ever get the product? I can help
I have a 2006 F350, what's the best way to remove the old seam?
Hi thanks for watching!! The best way to remove the old seam sealer from a roof ditch is to use an air powered wire brush tool like a Wurth DBS 3600.
@@automotivealchemy4983 Thanks
I need to do this on my '03 F150. What can I use besides this product for a DIYer?
you can use this same procedure for a bed side lap joint if thats what your asking. just remember to pull the tape off asap.
@@automotivealchemy4983 My cab is leaking and I'm sure it's from the outside cab body seam cracking.

Where can a dyi guy get a applicator like that?
Air 2 Part guns are not easy to find right now. Check with your favorite auto paint store.
I like the 3M 5887 it’s semi flowable does most of work for you
