    Thanks for this. I figured I'd go for a spray-in liner, but the bed rug would work better for my needs. Also, thanks for being the amazing team that you are.

    Recently bought my forth pickup (F150 Lightning) and my third BedRug liner.
    GREAT PRODUCT!

    I put a BedRug in my 2001 F-150 SuperCrew within a week of purchasing it new and while it has some smooth worn spots in it, the rug is still in great shape even today with my nephew driving it and over 200k miles on the clock. True, it hasn't really been exposed to the elements since there was a LEER shell (color matched to the truck) installed at the same time.
    BedRug was an independent company back then, and there was a separate pad that you installed first, then the liner went on top of it to create a flat surface with quite a bit of cushion. I used to sleep in the back with my dogs went I attended some coursing events and that padded floor was better than many camp pads.

    Thanks TE Team. I'll mention this to my son. His spray in liner has held up great but he does have stuff sliding around in the bed.

    A truck bed carpet liner? WTF. So weird. Very cool. I am impressed.

      It's not actually carpet. It's made of a polypropylene that's water, acid, and oil resistant - look for the link in the description! :)

    Liked seeing Ghost and Skye, but the best bit was seeing a Blue Bolt with a nice layer of road grime. (Electrified vehicles {in my 'umble Opinion} are Made to be Used.)

    I had a BedRug and tonneau cover on my 2001 Ford Ranger. I beat the crap out of it for 7 years and when I turned it in towards a new car the dealership couldn't believe i'd used it for 7 years. He said it looked almost new. I hauled gear for my photography business. groceries, gardening equipment, yard waste, and slept on it like a baby. I was looking at Line-X and Rhino liner both but everyone who actually used their truck had those looking like cr*p in a month. Those didn't protect against heavy gear slamming against the sides of the truck and causing dings either.
    The dealer I bought both items from installed them for cheap. The BedRug install looked factory.

    Great video! I purchased a 24 F150 Powerboost and I had a bedrug installed by a so-called professional, and they literally cut big holes for my lights. When i asked them, wtf is this? He said that " the lights will pop out if i hit a bump if they install it behind them, so this is how its done." I made them pull it out of my truck and install one without cutting anything for the lights. So you saved me a lot of headache with your light removal method!
    Thank you!

    Looks really good. The last Ute I owned came with a plastic tub liner as standard and whilst it saved the steel of the bed, everything slid around like mad. This looks like a much better option.

    First - as always a well produced video. Second - How long did this take in real time? Third - As EV owner and an amateur wood worker, I would be interested in what you and your wife are doing to the garage for her woodworking. And lastly - good to see you back to your usual cheerful (and to some extent cheeky) self.

    • @transportevolved
      @transportevolved  5 місяців тому +7

      Good questions! First, because of my partly not okay hand, it took about 5 hours - because I couldn't do as much as quickly. The first time I did it, it took about 2.5 hours, but that was without filming, and two people!
      Second, my wife is insulating her shop. It was an unfinished garage, and that was costing us a LOT for heating, so now we're finishing it with drywall and insulation. Next, she'll be making cabinets!
      - Nikki.

    Both trucks my family has owned have used the spray-in liner, so seeing an alternative is enlightening, especially if used with a cover.

  • @ImpactWench
    @ImpactWench 5 місяців тому +1

    In my experience an impact driver is *less* likely to strip a bolt than a hand tool is. Provided you use top-quality bits, that is, and hold the tool straight. Not that I have an explanation, and I could see arguments either way.

    Did mine last weekend. You did better :-) I cut my ProPower a little large and have a little gap that no one but me will notice. Oh well. Didn't have a paint marker or metallic sharpie handy. Wish this video would have been out first -- I didn't take my taillights out or disconnect the ProPower so that was part of the problem. Still like the product. I got mine direct from Ford (using some of my FordPass points) and it has the Ford logo instead of the bedliner. Came with NO instructions.

    YA FREAKED ME OUT NIKKI ;(
    You started off saying that the bed was going to rust. I looked online and I found a Quora thread that said Ford had discontinued aluminum beds a few years ago. That would have been really sad for my new Lightning, since I wanted to keep it a few years. After looking around the internet for a half-hour, and putting some magnets on my truck, I confirmed that it is an aluminum bed.
    Aluminum doesn't rust. It does corrode, but that is generally a far slower process. Also, if you are not careful, putting steel fittings in the aluminum bed can cause big problems. I didn't hear any consideration of this in the video.
    And to all the Pro-EV (or Anti-???) troll bombthrowers out there on this channel, please be more respectful. Not sure why you hate EV owners so much but it would be great if we built each other up instead of tearing each other down for nothing.

    I am wondering when the rear tail-lights on the lariart were changed to match the Pro and XL?
    Before the Lariart and Platinum with the Tailgate light bar had side tail lights without the reverse lights, right?
    (It was part of the reason I looked at Lariart and Platiunum Lightning's as not being for carrying loads with the tailgate down ..aka more Luxury truck than work)

    • @brianmoreira2061
      @brianmoreira2061 5 місяців тому

      I belive the F150 Lightings with the tailgate lightbar have little wing leta that cover the reverse ligjt on the tail lamps.
      So you get reverse lights on tailgate lights at with the tailgate up and still have reverse lights when tailgate is down from aforementioned saide tail light built in reverse lights.

    • @rednammoc

      "Instal" is archaic though, and now rarely seen in the UK - so given the default use of "install" here, the single "l" variant seems to be completely redundant.

    Just a reminder.
    Everyone switching to gigantic electric trucks is not a solution to any significant problem.
    They aren't clean. They require huge resources to build.
    They aren't green. As above, plus they are extremely inefficient in use of energy.
    They aren't smart. Most of time you are hauling around 3 tons of car to pick up groceries.
    They aren't safe. Quite the opposite. They have gigantic blind spots, especially in front of the vehicle where you can fit a dozen children completely out of sight of the driver. They kill pedestrians in a collision far more often because they impact the chest and neck. And they are completely incompatible with other vehicles in a crash meaning that they overwhelm the safety features of a normal vehicle in a collision, leading to many more fatal accidents.
    Thumbs down all round.
