Always good seeing these, thanks Martin!
Melda is the single most underrated Plugin Company in the world
I agree. A shout out at last
I think Mefjus is the next era of dnb. With Noisia on the way out, I feel like the torch is getting passed, and it's really great to see someone with such an original sound sharing their creative process. The entire particles concept is great for music in general, it kind of reminds me of the extra stuff that gets packed into a vinyl release.
Thanks for answering the question on phase alignment
Yup, it’s crazy to think that you don’t hear anything about phase alignment. It’s the most important thing if you want to do live shows, or just to have a real proper mix down
The League Idk....I hear about phase alignment all the time 🤷♂️
TheBlashMusic well that’s maybe because you know a lot of people? I make music on my own lol
@@theleague383 True haha
Great teacher. Would love to hear more about how you guys made "overture" so loud without destroying it.
Watched the entire series and picked up a whole load of production tips and tricks from it. Big ups Mefjis 💚
very insightful! Don't feel so bad about only having Ozone on my master now haha
i should probably use more than a preset limiter and mbc...
Thank you for sharing the information, but instead of answering questions, it seems to me that it would be better to just create a track from scratch, even without comments, but simply show the complete process and bring the track to the final result. Maybe it will be a few series, but it will certainly be interesting to everyone! )) Thanks!
Can you show us how to make a kick in serum with all the modulations and so on?
💙💙💙
2 Questions/ Discussions
1) Do you aim for a range within integrated (long term) lufs levels (disregarding the intro, breakdown, outro)? Also thoughts upon making music to be perceived loud rather than a meter/analyzer telling you its loud.
2) Thoughts on mono compatibility, im not a big fan of stereo saturated mixes and personally prefer if the mix collapses to mono and generally has the same character and balance although its clear that getting a larger sound is to try to build the stereo signal up so when does it become an issue to have lots of side information and is it something that you check a lot as your progress through sound design and mixing, i find myself using this tool all the time.
I hope this makes sense
Hi Martin, really enjoyed these track insights and looking forward to your upcoming production stream! I'd love to hear you go into your use of reverb/sends and background fx. Essentially the details that aren't main elements of the track but that make them sound full and complete. Big up!
You are a living legend!
Best explanation on phase alignment i've seen so far! please keep them coming
Moore Ronald White David Smith Barbara
I, how do you make the kick from scratch ?
thanks so much for these videos. they help alot!
did you use limiters on buses like drums, bass, fx etc or just in masterbus? None of the above?
Cheerrz!
I would like to know your sidechain settings. A SIDECHAIN MASTERCLASS 😎👍
Great episode again!
I always wondered how you did this mesmerizing percussive element of divergence that loops throughout the whole track. It's so vivid but synthetic at the same time.
Did you measure your room with a mic? Are you doing any corrections to flatten the curve (lol)?
Awesome! What Skin of Serum is this ?
Thank god for this video
Love the content can't stand the endless mouth noises. God help me.
Cool stuff . Thank you
Great stuff once again!
I think that a little lesson on stereo placement and mixing wide but mono compatible would be interesting to see
Please "stereo panning" tutorial ? 🙏
Love the melda plug!!!
Been using them for years. Free updates for life and any of the bundles keep growing and those new plugins that keep coming out are free if u have a bundle (they’re so affordable and deep.. no fancy GUI but light on CPU and sound great)
Thanks for the vids dude! Great to see the inside look from reallly talented producers
These are amazing! Any chance you could revisit "Together?" I'm dying to know more about those bass synths and noise layer :)
no more sherman filter bank?
big up from india!! sssiccc sound man! when is the next Question session !? keen af!
You have a dnb scene in india?
Please keep doing these sort of videos. Learning new things from each one.
Как по мне переплюнул по звуку Нойзию. Давно стал как по мне папой по нейро)
Thank you, Martin! :)
Thank you ! Have a question, what plugins do you use for your home mastering ?
Also I have second question, do you use a mid/side equalization ? When ?
are we ever having another EP ?
You explained that so well, thanks!
Not a production question, but would still love an answer in the next Q & A:
Will the hip-hop remixes ever get released? Would love to be able to listen to Simon Says.
"MEFJUS SAYS GET THE FUCK UP" !!

Hey Martin, can you give some tipps for the Span plus settings?
hi mate. i love your approach to mixing. i have two questions though.
i notice you don't seem to use a drum buss on any of your particles projects. is this correct? is this similar to why you don't treat the master buss, ie you process individual sounds instead?
also, how do you get your tracks so loud? i notice you generally have all faders at 0dB. do you apply saturation/clipping to individual sounds to increase level/prevent clipping when tracks arrive at the master buss? do you use serial limiting on the master buss? or other techniques like limiting/expansion/limiting?
thanks for these insights!
Thanks for all of the episodes man!
Amazing, please keep doing these!
Great insight 👌
Hey Mefjus where can I ask you questions at? If the comments section is it here is mine! for future videos.
Just want to start off i'm very inspired by you always have been! Can you please show some detail on how you add effects in your composition? I'm curious to know what your go to FX strategy is which includes weirds sounds that you like to put into the background of the track. Thanks!
Can you please tell me where I should look to find a MEFJUS Serum Preset Pack available to purchase ? tutorials have been sensational -Cheers!
Great tips
Huge Respect man!...quality inside info dude!
Quick question🙏🏻.....
You put a limiter on the master bus, but how much on average do you push into it (dB)? Just a tickle? then master/increase loudness seperate?
? I find myself sometimes pushing it a fair bit and working my mix around it
Eg....push it to the edge of breaking point in the limiter then dial back a bit and use that as my maximum if ya get me?
These are priceless advices especially when you talked about mixing / mastering. I recently discovered your music and just subscribed to your channel, love both. Thumbs up big time, got some watchin’ to do now :D
Fucking love you man. I've had an awful day at work and this is just a great way to pick up my evening.
Much love.
Great idea with this Q&A. I know you just said each track is different mixdown-wise but it would be really awesome if you could maybe use one of these tracks and describe the mixdown process on them. More specifically: how do you make everything loud (and punchy) without limiting?
How do you balance kick and bass in terms of level. Some tips about gain staging?
Mefjus you snare sizzling brother, wicked tutorial man, i definitely have taken away some new stuff to try from every one of your episodes so big up
Thank you for making these tutorials! I was wondering how make such big reece basses. I always struggle in having a non-phasing sub, when I make my reeces haha. Do you just low cut it and add a sub or do you make the sound mono first and then add stereo information in the mid and top range?
I can't thank you enough for the melda name drop, just got the trial fx bundle and wow! Incredible plugs, soon as I get some dough I'll def be investing. Big up
Hey Mefjus, about the phase of the kick and sub, how do you account for playing different sub notes when the kick plays? As in, if I get my kick and sub in phase for my root note E, but then my sub plays a fifth at some point, do you just cut your losses and accept that ones not perfectly in phase? or is there some way to key track this maybe?
+1
Could be fiddly, but use the note modulation on your phase knob ?
Hi! Sorry but, for the masterbus only a limiteur can do the job??
Hey Martin thanks these are amazing. How do you set up span to, what are your favourite settings. And what are you looking for?
Amazing series!!!
Let`s see how u made za drumz on "Noisia - Exavolt (Mefjus Remix)"
Amazing skillz u have!
Thanks for these videos Martin! Great stuff :)
Interested in knowing a few things if you could cover in a future video?
- Getting the kick and bass in phase... Seems simple when you do it in serum but how would you go about aligning them once the bass has been processed / is a more complex wave or if you were to use audio / samples?
- Buses... Would love to see some drum & bass bus processing and parallel processing...
- Sidechaining... You mention you kick here is sidechained to the bass. Do you use a typical audio transient to trigger a compressor / gate or are you using midi, automation to sidechain?
What TV model do you use as a monitor? And does it have much glare?
Cheers
last time i came this early got a divorce request
nice video series. big up up martin! best from innsbruck!
Thank you Martin. Particles is so bangin and these videos are gold.
Im sampling the FAKE!
Hey Martin! Love the series! I was wondering if you could show us how you manage your samples and presets in terms of naming, filing and organising them.
I've been wrestling in my head about phase alignment since watching your videos. I had to come back to basically comment what 'hilopsilo' and 'John Doe' have already said below - What about when the bass/sub is playing different notes? & what about the use of waveforms with more overtones? PLEEEEAAASE ANSWER I CAN'T SLEEP 😩😂😭
(And also thank you so much for these videos 🙏🏽)
Thank you thank you thank you thank you and thank you again!
Great Video! Thank you
Very usefull, thanks !
That mic sounds awesome
top man..cheers mate
More, please!!!
8:34 Word man! fake life.
Thanks for doing is, I was wondering how are you using the screen in front of you with the span on it ?
tape on the screen to show the boundaries where lows/highs should stay within
@@geoffcraz -6 down to -18 down to -36 then rolling off
Clliipz what slope ?
Been waiting for this, legend
Danke schön maestro!
Mefjus be making one of the best sounding music on planet but can't install a pop-filter or limit the pops on his mic
Why is the label teaser "Made For Kids"???
