    I think you have a mistake. According to Montreaux, even with the canal, US can't keep its war ships in the Black Sea more than 21 days.

    • @stevekluth9060
      @stevekluth9060 5 років тому +11

      Probably true. But the US (or China, etc) could send in several ships for a 1-2 week exercise. The US and Russia both schedule some naval exercises near specific places as a show of strength. The US conducting one in the Black Sea would seriously upset Russia.

    • @infryndiira
      @infryndiira 5 років тому +7

      Considering the Montreaux Convention doesn't cover just the Bosporus but also the Dardanelles, the most a man-made canal parallel to the former could do was potentially allow more than nine warships to transit at a time, at least through that specific spot. Still doesn't solve the general issue of transit, and it's unlikely that way more than nine warships could realistically be dispatched in the first place due to the logistics of crossing the straits. Then you also have the issue of draft and displacement; if supercontainer carriers can't cross the proposed Istanbul Canal, would larger warships be able to?

    • @TB-zf7we

    to the people asking "why would anyone pay to cross, when you can cross Bosporus for free" its the same principle of why would someone use a toll bridge, when there is another for free. you see the "free" crossing is over crowded, and has an incredibly long waiting time, to not wait, the wealthier people pay a fee to use toll bridges. and if they are using those bridges, then the traffic is lowered on the "free" bridge.

      It’s more than that Bosphorus crossing has not been under Turkish control and will not be in till 2023 . That’s wen Turkish government will be able to put restrictions on Bosphorus and not let any one use it. All traffic will be redirected to the man made canals.

    The government has amended state bidding law 187 times since 2002.
    I belive a honest state will have one bidding law that looks out for the best interest of the nation.

      With America pulling out of the Global system that it created 70 years ago America will not care about Russia and its shrinking population. When the system collapses fully there are going to be three conflicts: The Russia war where Russia will be trying to push their borders back into Poland, Belorusse and Romania in order to be able to protect themselves when they have a Army 1/4 the current size. The Iranian Saudi war over religion, culture and customers and the East Asian war where all of those countries are going to have to sail their navies to escort oil from the Middle East after picking a side in a Middle eastern knife fight and then escort that oil back. All it takes is China to attack Taiwan or Japan to attack Korea for oil and free trade is dead.

    • @ekinhorzum
      @ekinhorzum 3 роки тому

      China is exporting high tech, that should have the main credit. China's infrastructure projects are tools for political/geostrategical gains more than mere economic ones...some critics even call them debt traps. Above all Turkish construction companies globally rank first in domestic governmental contracts (thanks to the corruption scheme they breeded) which does not contribute to a sustainable economic growth. This canal project is yet another one since it will open up the northern part of the city for housing projects. Ruling party elite has already bought the lands nearby the proposed canal. All these are so boringly happening here everyday (yeah these people are this cheap and corrupt) that none of the deep geostrategical analyses in the video matter that much.

    You only need to look at a similar project nearby, in Romania. The Danube-Black Sea canal connects the Danube river to the major port of Constanta. It took Ceausescu a lot longer than expected, was massively over budget, rife with human rights violations and the loans he took to build it are part of what led to the eventual financial debacle in the 80s and his removal from power... Nowadays, while completed, it is not used to its full capacity, most companies prefering the 150-200 nautical mile longer (but free) route via the danube delta.
    If Erdogan tries to build this... well, history has a tendency to repeat itself.

    Hey Shirvan, here is an idea for a video that I think many people might like to see: Detailed Analysis of the FALL OF ISIS.
    I think that we have already established what factors caused the RISE of ISIS (US invasion, Insurgency, Sunni-Shia War etc.), but right now, when ISIS is about to lose the last couple of villages on Euphrates and Golan heights, and not controlling any major cities for nearly a year now, I think we can safely conclude that ISIS is effectively gone.
    We want to hear your thoughts on what factors led to the slow decline and eventual death of ISIS as a military, and political entity.
    Also, since you are better informed than most of us, perhaps you could give us some actual facts (instead of MSM propaganda we are bombarded with on a daily basis) in regards to how many soldiers did ISIS actually have, how many people lived under it's rule, how did the economy function, who were the actual people in charge of the government and military, what battles turned the tides on ISIS and how etc. etc.

    But you see how in the Kerch Strait, Putin has effectively denied access from Mariupol to the Black Sea. In Turkey, Erdogan feels that it is a vulnerability to have only one access point between the Med. and the Black Sea. Choke points can be easily attacked. Turkey is blocked to the East, so West is Turkeys opportunity point. Thus the need for the enlargement of the canals, the massive bridge and airport structures. Turkeys only true friend in the region is Turkey. She needs to protect her access to commerce, shipping, tourism and in general economic activity.

    Sea of Marmara is a unique sea. Its structure is very different than all other seas. A canal will ruin Marmara. It will flood Marmara with organic rich water of Black Sea. This will leave Marmara with less oxygen each year. Finally, Marmara will eventually stink in the following years. Whenever there is a southwester wind, the people of Istanbul will suffer the rotten smell. After Erdogan dies, people who breathe the rotten egg smell will commemorate him in "lovely words".

      You do realize that you already HAVE a free natural canal right ?
      Why would ANY ship want to PAY to go through this man made canal ?
      Bosporus is literally free.
      Would you rather pay 50$ for a road that has no traffic or not pay for a road that has traffic ?
      The answer is simple.
      Suez and Panama canals were built because they literally split two continents allowing ships to travel through the continents instead of going around them.
      What Erdogan wants to do is create a 2nd canal for no apparent reason.

    Turkey can not prevent any ship to pass through Bosphorus without any fee. But the sea traffic is already a problem and most of the vessels are already waiting for hours (sometime days) on the line to pass. Turkish government can easily restrict the passages because of the traffic. Commercial ships will (most probably) prefer paying the bill for the cannal instead of waiting on the line for days.
