I find it very hard to believe that the idea of female Silver Surfer came above Kevin Feige and he wasn't into it. He is the same guy who pushed Captain Marvel back in 2017 and said she was gonna be the face of the M-SHE-U moving forward and the same guy who couldn't stop talking about female representation in all those interviews.

Comics fans will always hold out hope because any half-decent writer can use the multiverse to fix everything that’s gone wrong. Infinity War showed us that Dr. Strange would have fit perfectly into RDJ’s shoes. Chemistry and storyline was there, but you need directors and screenwriters that will honor the source material since that’s their main audience’s viewpoint.

I am sorry, the gender swapped Silver Surfer is a deal breaker for me. I will NOT be seeing this movie, and I am a huge FF fan, and Galactus is one of my favorite villains. And don't get me started on Doc Doom. But to be honest here, I love RDJ, but man, his presence as Doc just fills me with dread. I seriously think we are about to see Disney take a giant dump on FF and Doc.
Pedro Pascal was the deal breaker for me, female Silver Surfer is just the cherry on top of this entire shitfest.

It was desperation, not to cast him, but to reveal him. It could have been a shock twist reveal during the movie.
One of the good parts of DOOM is that he legit thinks himself a hero. A "benevolent tyrant" that protects HIS people and HIS world (emphasis on HIS)
So while his tyrant part is villanous, sometimes a bigger threat will make him the hero in comparison.

Doom... RDJ will play him for half a movie. Then the mask is his face. No "inside the helmet" camera angles. So all the acting can be done by someone else, they just need RDJ to do some voice over. Which will save them a few hundred million each movie.

I know nothing about the Doom character or how would appear on film but it's being reported that RDJ is to be paid 'significantly more' than the Russo brothers $80million to direct the 2 films. More than $80 million for essentially voice over work seems not likely.
Dr. Doom is as follows:
1. Narcissistic to the utmost.
2. Intelligent as hell.
3. Strong-willed.
He isn't Iron Man but evil. Doom is the ruler of Latvaria, he is far more put together than Tony Stark. He wouldn't care about defending the world, he'd care about advancing his power. He bows to no one and nothing and would have been sorcerer supreme if Dr. Strange was not at the tournament. He integrates technology and magic. Most of his grandiose claims, he can back up. And that's what makes him such a flawed and compelling character. There were times in the comic when he declared "Doom bows to no one!" before getting wiped out of existence. He is such a dangerous individual, whoever you are, however powerful you be, be you mortal or God, if you underestimate him, Doom prevails.
If he isn't wearing his mask, then he isn't Dr. Doom.
And he has to be an angry gypsy boy who grows up to beat up God and the Devil! 💪

Why do people keep calling doom the greatest villain of all time? I saw the other Fantastic 4 films. He wasn't really anything. He was forgettable at best. BTW, I base my entire opinion on the movies. I could not care less about the comics.
@@rangers94ism if you only know the movies you don't know Marvel (especially not Doom) at all. Thousands of interconnect stories on a scale the movies could never hope to achieve. Because of their nature, movies have to be an abridged and watered down version for the mainstream every single time (and even then you have to hope the film maker gets them right). It's like comparing a cup of water to the ocean. The classic comics (between 1961-2015) are where 99% of the lore for all these characters comes from.

Im not down with RDJ as God King Doom. Hes a great actor but we need someone taller, bigger, deeper voice, ect. I still loved Julian McMahon's performance the most.
Before multiverse, we were worried about having a actor play more than 1 different comicbook character just in case of multiverse. (Ex. Human torch/captain america) Now were here.....
Patrick Warburton. Yeah he does a lot of comedic stuff, but as we've seen from Robin Williams, Jim Carrey, Bob Odenkirk, comedic actors can do drama really well. He's got the voice for Doom.

There is something no one talks about in this - who will make up "The Avengers" for these movies?
I don't think you can succeed off a big villain alone, you need big heroes. RDJ as Dr. Doom is a big pull, but who is he up against and can they match him? The old Avengers are out of contracts. Their "Young Avengers" are a failure. Who will make up "The Avengers" for this and be big enough to match up against an RDJ Dr. Doom? They took years and years to build up "The Avengers" before, but can't do that again. So, how can they make this work?
Captain Falcon, Thor/Jane/kid, the new Guardians, Ant-Man Wasp & Kid, Thunderbolts, She-Hulk, Shang-Chi, Captain Marvel trio, Hulk & Red flavor, Dr Strange & Furiosa, what's left of the Eternals, Ironheart, Black Panthera, Namorrrrrr, Venom, Deadpool & Wolverine, Spider-man & the FF

There is the real world contract issues that exist, many have never been Avengers (and just throwing together whoever will not work), but worst of all, they have been trying to make "Young Avengers" work, but they have all failed, badly.

Every time some studio makes a comic book movie, all the comic book nerds come out of the woodworks with how the studio completely destroyed the characters or lore.
It’s like comic book nerds don’t exist, or charge too much money to just “be in the room” and say stuff like “Umm… She-Hulk isn’t anything like this, actually.”
They really need to consider the idea more.
I’ve been saying this for years. No one wants a movie written by a committee (though they do that anyway) but if they had a panel of like 20 Marvel super fans to just hash some things out, point out important character pints, approve casting, approve costumes, etc. it would absolutely turn around some of the major problems. And they could pay each of them very little compared to hollywood rates. 🤷🏻♂️

I saw it fly by in chat but Vigo M would have been the better casting for Dr Doom, in my opinion anyway. I just hope that they don't show Doom without his mask as a big DUN DUN DUHH moment, but I can totally see it happening.
Guardians of the Galaxy 3 was a perfect jumping off point. I'm glad the trilogy ended so well, we even got a proper villain.

I agree with Chris' take on Pedro Pascal, as much as i love the guy I just can't see him as Reed Richards. I still think Marvel just looked up "top actors of 2023" and cast him based off that. The guy has the acting chops but I miss the days when marvels casting directors would find semi-popular actors and bring us someone who was born to play that role and not just stunt castings over and over.
Agreed. MCU casting used to be about finding actors that didn’t have big roles under their belt, so they could become iconic as their characters. Now they are just throwing in whatever popular actors they can find. 🙄

I really liked Julian McMahon as Dr. Doom in the 2005 Fantastic Four movie, that was a great casting for the role for me. He is 56 years old and if the Avengers: Doomsday does come out in 2026 he will be 58 or 59 years old, depending on if/when the movie releases. Robert Downey Jr is 59 years old now and will be 62 if/when the movie comes out. So for me either cast Julian or a younger actor, hell I can see Mark Strong pulling off a great Dr. Doom but he to is 60 and if you want Dr. Doom to stay relevant you need a younger actor. So maybe Henry Cavill? Also since the character is Romani, so if I was a casting director I would want to find the best actor that is Romani to play a Romani character.

DOOM could bring me back to the MCU.
But not just a good villain DOOM in one movie, or a Thanos DOOM.
I want a DOOMverse... the whole universe should revolve around DOOM way more than it did with Thanos.
Go back in time and give us a solo DOOM movie, with a "kid" doom becoming a leader of its people.
Give us fantastic 4 movie with a origin story, with a young doom there (dont even need to be a bad guy yet)
Get doom involved in a sentinel program early stages and give us mutants (and doombots)
Have doom working with ghost rider or maybe even blade against demonic forces of Mephisto
Have an early Latveria trading with Wakanda. Have doom studying with the sorcerers and a young Strange.
Have doom replicating the super soldier serum, working in conjunction with a young tony stark (maybe kid tony admired him? got some tips?).
Doom tech used to stop the Hulk.
DOOM EVERYWHERE. And keep the movies in line with his tone to some extent, at least less silly.
