Hi Gary! I am wondering if you have had any experience with the the pump unable to separate from the gear train while removing from the case? My 845RE in my 14 Durango needed a rebuild, am in the country and was unable to locate a shop that could/would rebuild it, so being an Automotive DIY guy I came across your channel and was amazed how simple you made this look! My hat's off to you for providing your highly educational videos. Anyway, I managed to rebuild it without a hitch until . . . doing an air check I found that the E, C and D clutches were leaking (ring seals?) so I began the process of disassembly to find the cause. However, I was unable to separate the pump housing from the gear train and the entire assembly came out together. There is metal on metal I am hearing clanking as I made several attempts, but no joy. Any ideas on what might be the issue? Thanks so much for what you do and all the best!
Hi there! I have a question and I've been looking for the answear for many UA-cam hours and google. It's just that I don't know what's going on with mi ZF8HP... Hope you can help me 'cause I'm about to give up and wait for the worst. I own a BMW/F20 with the B48 engine. It has only 33 000 kilometers and it's my daily car (not for track days and things like that). When I turn on the engine, with out even touch the gear selector, I feel a hit on the gear box, and I don't know why. I've scaned the car with ISTA and other scann tools lots of times but I can't find the problem, it's all ok, no errors. I have also seen that, when I park the car on a very pronounced hill, leaving the weight totally on the brake shoes, when I turn on the engine later the hit is not present, the gear box works fine. But, when I park the car on a flat floor, as always, leaving the weight of the car on the brake shoes as it is suppoused to be, the hit comes back. I repeat it, I just turn on the engine and even without touching the gear selector, the gear box hits to the front of the vehicle. I'm about to change the oil 'cause I want to see the oil pan and the magnets so I can see if there is a lot of damage or a broken pice flotating there. I also read that, when the engine and the gear box mounts are damaged, even with a little damage, some issues like I have are present, but I don't know, I mean, the mounts are not expoused to a critical conditions (weather, terrain, tracks, etc). Gary what do you think that may cause the hit on the box? I hope you can help me, please. Thank you!!
@@giloh.1359 What is happening is the drive shaft is turning or flexing and the park pawl is hitting the park gear, i have a car at the shop now trying to figure it out. so far i had the TCM reprogrammed and i changed out the park solenoids, no luck, called the ZF tech line and they couldn't help me either. To start check the emergency release cable to make sure it's not sticking and it's adjusted correctly, fluid level is full?. The car i have, the programmer told me he had a problem reprogramming the TCM someone put performance software in there and thinks it is corrupted
@@GaryFerraro What do you think should I do? I'm tired of this... Should I change the complete mechatronic? Everything else I'm sure it's fine (not considering the mounts yet) Probably the fluid level is not full and that's another reason of why I'm going to change de oil... al least I can see by myself that the fluid level is full or if a have a leak or things like that, but I can assure that from the outside everything looks good. I'm not fan of remaping the factory softwares... acctualy, I use to reset the values of the gear box using ISTA frequently with the hope that the problem desappear haha, just close my eyes and start the reset order, but now I can see that the problem is may be in another place... what else would you do Gary?
WOW!!!
Gary, you are a transmission GURU)))
This was a great video. Please keep them coming!

Nice job Gary, the 2022 haven’t changed much ,just a few update’s, keep up the great work.
Thank you for the great educational videos Gary
Great video, thank you Gary
Thank you for this video..
Thanks for the video. Do you know the torque spec for the flex plate to torque converter?

You pulled the valvebody off first correct
@@GaryFerraro Yes, it was not installed yet
ok, there may be an o-ring for the converter, you took the skinny o-ring off on the input shaft?
@@GaryFerraro Yes. The pump housing will move out and away from the gear train about 1/4" and then 'clunk'
@@BrandtHall-cz3xj may be getting hung up on a sealing ring on the shaft. Pump should slide right out
Hello, you might help me , where to buy Torque Converter Shaft Seal / input shaft seal and Output Shaft Seal for 845re ?
where are you located?
Europe , Czech . Some eshop with shipping outside US would be great 😇
What’s the internal differences (and clutch/gears) from the 8 to the 10 speeds? The gear train looks pretty much the same.
actually have not worked on any 10 speeds yet
It’s crazy that we have 10 speeds now from Ford/GM, and Toyota/Lexus/Aisin.
@@connerchampion5656 what’s even more crazy is the CVT was really the best trans because it could always vary, but Americans just don’t like them.

The image quality of the video is low and the camera angle should be changed. Successful. I follow it with liking.

What would cause case to crack?
Not sure, didn't really see any other damage
Transmission could be from a wrecked vehicle
Leave it to Chrysler to get a license to build a perfectly designed transmission and they F it up.
