I think the reason for the Metroid fanbase being so nice is, for one, the fact that it’s an old fanbase that had time to mature and laments the fact that there weren’t more games in the series due to the poor reception, so any new fan is both a person new to this mature fanbase and a boost to the odds of the series getting revitalized which needs to be nurtured.
Also, for many years, Metroid has lived mainly through the speedrunning community, which focuses less on individual success and more on collective improvement and whittling down that time, so people will be very helpful to achieve that goal.
Reception? The series receives amazing reception! Barring Other M of course... It's the sales that have been meh. Which sucks, it's one of the most revered and influential series ever made.

Dread as are the other are just fun games to.
For the record, and if this actually reaches you before you pick up the game again: basic shots don't work on bosses. You have to use either Charged Shots or missiles. Just rapid-firing the beam does nothing, which is why it was making a *tink* sound when they connected. Once you get the Storm Missiles, though, you'll wonder why you used anything else.
once you get the plasma beam basic shots do damage to bosses (most noticeable on the final boss where mashing fire does more damage than even missiles, although it requires a fast mash)
Shine Spark works on a few. Doesn't outright kill them, but it shortens the fight by a mile. I did it to the second Chozo Mech (thought it was a Space Pirate when I first saw it), the Chozo Shield Warrior, and Escue.
most the time normal shots dont do damage to bosses actually. But yeah you're better off using charged shots to deal more damage
@@jeremyabbott4537 Comes at a cost of Carpal Tunnel later in life. Mashing is not recommended if you aren't world record speedrunning.
I'm pretty sure my entire first play through was done holding the missile button the whole time

If you get a chance to see this, When the EMMI flashes it's red light when it gets you, you have a small window to counter it by pressing X at the flash. While the window for doing so is extremely hard, I'd say you might be able to land it a few times.
The most I’ve gotten are 2 in a row and that was with some luck
@@pkpyro2000 Trust me I know. It's insanely hard especially because the EMMI's pattern constantly changes.
And don't forget, you get two parry windows for the EMMI: When they first catch you and just before they impale you. I usually go for the second window because it's a lil easier to prep for. That being said it's not easy on either one.

Or you can be the Purple E.M.M.I. and just grab Samus off rip and kill her immediately so you only have one attempt to counter. Killed me at least 10 times.

@@JohnDoe-jm6oj The next one will be Metroid Prime 4. It was confirmed to be on Nintendo Switch since 2017. But the only problem is that they still haven't said when it's going to release.
It is an amazing game, but this game is very very challenging in the latter half. But, this is also my first ever Metroid game.

Got this game 5 days ago and completed it in three. It was my fourth Metroid game, as my first Metroid was Super Metroid. Metroid Prime and Prime 2 were the next two. The Dread announcement got me into this series in the first place. I love this game. The difficulty isn’t as bad as everyone says, even though I hated every second of it and want to go back to that difficulty and do it again because it’s so satisfying to complete. Her suit is also beautiful. This was also the first game I’ve ever 100%’d.
Also, good to know that I’m not the only one who thought that teleporting Samus looked like Dark Samus.

Yes, Metroid pinball exsists. It was a spin-off based on Metroid prime that came out on the DS.
But I don't like pinball, So I don't know if that game was any good.

Don’t feel too bad about getting lost. I’m a Metroid fan and I love this game, and even I get lost. But I love that this game lets you figure things out for yourself.
Also, don’t worry if a boss or enemy kicks your ass, trust me, I also got my ass handed to me.
Honestly getting lost is how I found most of my upgrades XD
@@27Bayleefs getting lost in Metroid dread feels different than getting lost in the other Metroid games.
There's just so much that you can't get to because paths get blocked off as you go around them instead of being naturally blocked by upgrades.
To answer your question past 4:10, Super Metroid's controls take getting used to the first few hours before you start to appreciate it in your own way. I literally just did that after beating Dread. Replayed Super. At first, I was concerned about how terrible I was controlling Samus, but you get better as you progress past Kraid. Super Metroid is still fun in its own way as exploration is really open especially after getting the grapple beam and speed booster.
Yep, totally. Did the same thing. Super Metroid came out in 1994, when wall jumping was still a fairly new mechanic. It takes some time getting used to the right timing, but once you got it in you, it's great.
@@soulzzplaysgames So true! Wall jumping was definitely something that took getting used to the first playthrough. On my replay, I had other challenges that took time. But after defeating Kraid, I got used to everything pretty quickly.
The controls for switching weapons in super runs so counter to how my brain works that I've never gotten much past super missiles despite trying several times

I’m surprised at how happy this game has made me. It’s the first 2d Metroid game I’ve ever finished, was pretty difficult, and I loved every bit of it. Trying to to 100% now. Great job to the devs for making a Metroid masterpiece

Quick fact, Choctopus: Dread is the 5th game in the main timeline. It goes NES Metroid, Metroid 2 (or Samus Returns), Super, Fusion, and finally Dread,
Replace NES Metroid with Zero Mission.
And of course slapping Other M in there between Super and Fusion. As much as we want to forget about it, it still is a part of the main timeline.

I'm a long time metroid fan, and even though Samus Returns on the 3DS was good, I wouldn't tell you that you should definitely buy it unless you liked metroidvanias, 2D games, puzzles, platforming, etc.. Dread however, I'd recommend to pretty much anyone who likes games.
Im really happy Metroid Dread opened the door of the Metroid series up for new players. I know the prime series fans were super disappointed that they didnt get their next game, but as a huge fan of the original metroid series I was and am so happy this game came out. I love watching your highlight play through xD
When Samus actually spoke back to Quiet Robe, I just sat there smiling. Mercury Steam really managed to give Samus so much character in this and Samus Returns without the need for horrendous monologues

For your information though, you didn't _have_ to counter that miniboss to damage it. Just pelting it with charge shots or missiles work too.
Super Metroid is an amazing game. You may miss having the parry or aeon abilities, but it is genuinely great.
All Metroid games (except Other M) are good and worth playing.

I love how when fighting the robot he just decides to stop shooting missiles and makes the fight like 10 times harder. Just keep unloading missles in, countering is an extra bonus lol
Or lure it up top then go bottom charge and store a speed booster because it dies in two shine sparks.

Fun fact, you get the morphball as the first power in almost all other games. The distance was widened in fusion to being the second ability. Let's count how many powers it took to get this morph ball. Fourth emmi encounter, wide beam, spider magnet, phantom cloak, charge beam. I threw in the fact thst you must see the SB emmi before reaching the monitor for the MB emmi. Also the MB is morph ball.
I'm gonna say it. Samus *NEEDS* a trip to the Bahamas after dealing with all this shit every day. But, *KNOWING THE WRITERS,* they're just going to turn that into another horror-survival disaster as well....

I love Metroid and I'm loving this series. I'm really glad your liking the game, I would love to see some other Metroid games on the channel. Also those chozo warriors( the robot looking thing at the end of vid) you can fire missiles and charge beams at them whenever, you dont just have to counter them aslo normal shots don't work on them.

idk if anyone else noticed this, but in the Quiet Robe cutscene Samus' neck is completely exposed and you can see her skin underneath. probably a bug since it isn't in any other cutscenes.
Actually, I think it was intentional. Showing the neck is a sign of non-aggression for a lot of animal species, maybe it’s a Chozo thing too.

12:05 you can dash melee those mines to stop the explosion. The dash melee also works on the orange rings in the Central unit fights (the E.M.M.I. brain things), and said rings can give you energy.
Fun Fact, Metroid Dread has a special quick-kill for Kraid if you sequence break the bomb power-up early!
