We have had great comments! Thank you all. What came up is there are seven zerk grease fittings to lube the front of the truck. Extremely important! Thank you for all the input.
Great video! Couple of things, Stan. 1) there are 9 zerk fittings on the front-end chassis. 2) you want to hold the starter button down for much longer than you did till you hear the fuel filter actually pumping by making a loud buzzing sound. You didn't hold your button down long enough and thats why your engine didn't turn over for a long time since it wasn't primed correctly. You could damage your starter with it trying to burn your starter out.
I just bought a 2021 high country 2500HD. I ALSO HAVE A F350 7.3 diesel. I know all about my Ford, but wasn't sure about the new chevy. You really eased my mind with all the maintenance I need to do mine. Your video was very informative and I'm now a subscriber.. thank you for going into detail on what needs done
Great video! Just got a Duramax after a 6.2 L Denali 1500 and was dreading doing the oil change. Now I feel fully confident in doing it myself, thank you!
Great video, Stan! Nicely done! Brings back fond memories of changing oil + filters, air filter and engine tune ups. Good tips for having the correct tools. These are good procedures to know when you are some place where you can't have someone service your vehicle. By the way, that was a hose clamp you loosened when removing the air filter, not an O-ring. Safe travels and God Bless y'all! Bob and Dottie
Hello Bob and Dottie, that’s what I get for going to fast. Lol 😂 O-ring. We will be in the Badlands next Wednesday. This was just an extra truck video. Thank you for joining us. Stan and Rhonda❤️
@@OverTheHillAdventures - In your defense, you WERE handling a bunch of O-rings in this video. I do this quite a bit, if that makes you feel any better, bro!
Great video! I just started doing the oil, filters and lube on a 23' 3500 HD Duramax. And yes, its a messy job! The 9 zerk grease fittings are an adventure! If you do your own lube work, it would be great to see a video on how you get to some of those fittings. Keep up the strong work!
Hi Robert. Yes it does knowing I saved money and time. I think I could get everything done in 20 minutes. Thank joining us on this extra video. Badlands video drops tomorrow. Stan and Rhonda
I do my own on the ‘21 F350. I’m with you on this one! Full syn, 8 qts for the 7.3 Godzilla. I change oil & filter every 5k miles, regardless of what % the oil life is.
Hey Mark, I tried to get done on the road. Seam like no one wants to work anymore!😜 I used to do every 3,000. Synthetic can easily go 7,500 miles. 10 quarts is a lot of oil. This motor is supposed to go 400,000 miles we will see. Maybe Rhonda will see. I’ll be gone before I see 400,000 miles. Lol😂
Hi Stan, good video! I have the same truck, but the GMC Denali. Dealer did the “free” oil change and I’ve done two afterwards myself. I just did my fuel filter myself.. I’ve been doing my own oil/filter/lube and fuel filters, plus tune ups on all my vehicles since I was 15 years old.. I just don’t trust the dealers or anyone else doing this simple maintenance work on my vehicles. I documents everything and save my receipts!! Be safe!!
Hey Brother! How are you doing?? I just had a question from a subscriber about the lubing the truck. He has a Denali also. The service center never said anything about the lube. Any particular grease zerks to make sure to hit? We appreciate you reaching out! Stan and Rhonda
Nice video. There have been a few issues with the oil filter loosening and spilling oil everywhere. There's a torque spec on em, which I believe is 40psi. Could be wrong....might wanna look it up. Also, there's 7 Grease earks in the front end, of which are a PITA to get to. But they must be done. Good on ya for DIY.
Hi Troy, thank you I appreciate that! Had a few comments about that. So glad you told us. I kinda knew there were however our service center never mentioned it. I will be on it! Thanks you for looking out. Stan and Rhonda
Thanks Stan! I have basically the same truck. Its just the Denali version. The prime step was particularly helpful. What about greasing it? Are there not any zerks on it? My truck only has 3000 miles on it so i have not serviced it yet. Take care!
Hello Matt, man that’s a good question on the grease. I have 27,000 miles on the our truck. Chevron Service Center never said anything about lubing it. I will read through the service manual. Hopefully your first service should be free? They won’t service it unless it’s below 25% oil life. Let me know it would be interesting to see what they say. I did my first service in Ohio. Best service ever!! Make sure they do all the updates on your on board computer. There was a recall on ours to update. Stan and Rhonda
@@OverTheHillAdventures will do. I know there is an update needed. Will be getting it serviced in July. Yes it will be the first service and it is included. I will let you know how it turns out. Thanks!
Love the video. Sorry the dealer wasn't so accommodating. We purchased our 2022 silverado 2500Hd (gas) from that same dealer in Havasu but we service it here in vegas. They were the only dealer who happened to have a truck back then. Also jealous of the garage love it beautiful.
Hi Lorie, you bought your 2022 truck from the same dealer? Small world!! We were told they would not have any trucks until 2023 because of the chip crisis. We drove and there it was. Drove it out that day. It’s a great dealership. I have friend that works in the service department. I’m sure the guy that called was having a bad day. Nevertheless, got me back under the truck and had fun doing it. Thank you for joining us on this one. It was just an extra video. We head to the Badlands next Thursday. Blessings, Stan and Rhonda
Hi Danny, thanks for joining us. $139 just to change the fuel filter. OEM filter $23 on Amazon. I put all the links to the OEM parts in the description. Stan and Rhonda
Hello Betty Jo, thank you for watching our probably boring truck video. That was just an extra video. Tonight our Badlands video comes out. Can not wait for you to see it. Blessings, Stan and Rhonda
I’ve always heard and use 2/3 to 3/4 of a turn after the gasket just makes contact. Seems to work for me. That’s probably about as far as you can turn it my hand.
Agree with you on DIY oil changes. And agree with the hand tight on the filters. Actually they have found that the air filter can get quite dirty before it starts to deteriorate the efficiency of airflow. And it actually filters better when it is semi-dirty. Who knew? 🤔 LOVE the large garages ! So jealous 😍 Good video! Bill in Utah PS: Thank you for your service for all those years! (Looking at the wall) 🚔
Hello Bill in Utah, thank you I appreciate that!! Bill I could not believe the bugs that was packed in the air filter. My old Dodge Cummins I put a K&N Air Filter with a straight pipe. That made a huge difference!! However, that was good to know. I tell you when I put the new filter it might be my imagination but lots more power. Always appreciate your comments, Stan and Rhonda❤️

4 upper and lower ball joints earks, and 3 PITA ones under the motor.

Maybe because they didn't grease it? A lot of places will 'conveniently ' forget to.
Good job, I always drain the water separator also. Good video.

Clean the MaF sensor ? It gets gunked up with carbon deposits & affects your mpg.
