- Dungeness, Kent Is A Little hamlet by the sea That Has A Somewhat Stephen King Feel To It.
We begin our exploration at the historical Pilot Inn and move across the vast expanse of Shingle (The largest in Europe), and head towards the new lighthouse before completing our video at the iconic old lighthouse.
The area is unique with its abandoned boats and strange homes spread along the coastal road.

They are uncle and niece (Stephen being Yhanas legal guardian and has been since she was three weeks old.) At Home - It is just the two of them and they both share a common interest and that’s exploring and adventure seeking.
Stephen Robert Kuta, is also an author, genealogist, historian, photographer and a keen traveller.
Yhana loves UA-cam, Ice cream, theme parks and the Romans.

I love your windy beach walk adventure. It is interesting to me how there are abandoned boats along the walk. Oooh yes it’s a little eerie thinking about Stephen King as you walk along the dark houses and light houses. It’s always wonderful seeing you and Yhana together. Those lighthouses are pretty impressive. Loved the contrast with the perfect blue sky. It was lovely hearing the history and the gulls in the area, too. The definitely are large! Great comparison with a Stephen King novel! 😄

Interesting artwork dedicated to the lost sailors! The lighthouse were both cool to see! Very windy but warm day! Imagine what it’s like on a bad day here! No wonder it needs two lighthouses!
What stories could those boats tell. I always thought being a lighthouse keeper must have been a lonely life.

Wow, what incredible anchors and such a great history! Wow, an Inn built from a sunken Spanish ship? Such amazing history you have uncovered! Loved running on the sand dunes, that really takes me back to my youth! Abandoned boats? I wonder what they have been used for? 🧐 smuggling no doubt! I do like a lighthouse, love the colour of the new one! Quite unusual! I can’t imagine the sea retreating, hard to get my head round! Like a reverse climate change! We have the same thing in Flamborough where the old lighthouse is inland to the new one. Fascinating! Great stephen king references Stephen! Lovely video 👍

We really enjoyed our little exploration here, we stopped for dinner here too. Fish and chips in the Old Pilot Inn. It’s a very old inn and was originally built using the Timbers from a sunken Spanish galleon 😊 I would visit again one day 😊 a big thank you and catch up soon

I have always been intrigued by Dungeness after watching a documentary about Derek Jarman (film director), who lived there sometime ago. I didn't know about the old and new lighthouses though. A very special place. Thank you for sharing this Stephen & Yhana - loved it! Take care, Paul.
Thank you Paul, I actually do like Derek Jarman films. I have seen most of them. How strange, we were both watching each other’s videos at the same time lol 😆 sorry, I missed your last few videos Paul. I have a few spinal issues which gets worse in cold damp weather. Needed a short break to rest up a bit.
Dungeness was very interesting 😊 there is a lot more to it, then what I showed on the video but the lighthouses were very interesting 😊
I enjoy exploring lighthouses myself, these were very interesting and so was the area, I have never been to Dungeness. But from the look of your video, it does look very stark

A bracing walk you two! Nice to see the two lighthouses: popular topics for artists I've noticed though I haven't attempted one yet. The boats woud also be worth atry to get down on paper. I loved that 'scree walking/running' down the shingle. I don't think we have anyhthing quite that good up here, not that I'm aware of anyway. :-) Nice share Stephen. Hi Stephen and Yhana, OMG, gusty winds picking up. 2:12. The beach is filled with little pebbles instead of sandy beach...I am sorry that you, two had some challenges on the beach, although playful. Wow, those rusted old anchors are tributes for those dead in the sea. Very moving. Yes, also. Those abandoned boats. Actually, if you have a chance to visit FL, there are many of them, especially after hurricanes. The interesting fact is you can apply for "Claiming an Abandoned Vessel in Florida." I am fond of old lighthouses. Stephen King-ish eerie story. Could be a novel written by you...I wonder if it's pitch black but the light from the lighthouse at night at this location. Thank you, Stephen and Yhana.
I can imagine at night the whole area looks even more eerie, and those lighthouses would certainly add to that ambience. It’s a unique area in the UK right on the corner where the English Channel and waters of the Atlantic meet. The waters here are very treacherous.
The lighthouses were very interesting too.

Hello again, Stephen and Yhana! The anchor memorial was an interesting and sobering one. Sad to think about so many lives that have been lost on the waters of the channel... but there's also a lot of positive history on the channel as well. Thanks for sharing your trip to the lighthouses at Dungeness!
I think there has been countless lives lost over the centuries on those waters, but I agree that some very positive stories exist there too 😊 This is a very interesting site, one that I enjoyed exploring very much 😊 catch up soon

My mother was very Spanish looking. But her heritage was Irish-Scottish-English. She always claimed that our Spanish looks came from the Spanish Armada crashing off the British isles. She believed that to the day she died. I did DNA and sure enough, Iberian peninsula came up in my test results. You made me think of that when you were talking about the Spanish ship.
Oh wow, that’s very interesting 😊 I must admit, you have a very Spanish look about yourself too 😊 Your Mother’s Iberian peninsula DNA must be very dominant. During the Armada, Spanish ships did indeed sink all around the coast of England. I think in Ireland and Scotland though, the Spaniards onboard most likely survived and integrated into the local population. I descend from a group of French fishermen who lost their ship of the coast of Scotland 🏴 So your mothers story is probably very true.
It is probably easy researched too, as I’m sure local stories exist in both Scotland and Ireland of Spanish shipwreck survivors. Which would give you a location or two for where this part of your heritage begins 😊

Hey both, wow this is interesting. The anchor’s were in Dicken’s garden, that’s cool! Dungeness is near where Rach’s mum was originally from. That beach looks lovely, maybe a bit windy though. Ah, Yhana, maybe flip flops weren’t the best choice, you need a sturdy walking shoe 😂. Those lighthouses were interesting, although we prefer the older one, much more character and history. Good that public can still go up the 2nd one. Ooh, that house near the end was a bit weird. Nice one as always both x 🍻

Hi Stephen this looked like an interesting place but maybe a bit bleak and spooky ? Hehe I'm a bit curious about that Stephen King book now 🤭 The two lighthouses were lovely, I especially liked the second one and it was great to have the memorial to those that drowned. You were brave running down that shingle sand but Yhana was more so with the flip flops ! Loved the photos at the end. Kind of place we would like to explore . Thanks for the lovely tour :) ~ Anna 👍

You've come up with more interesting content. I love lighthouses. I know they are automated now - sadly some of the romance has gone out of the profession I feel. The beach was very stoney so not a swimming beach i thought but I could be wrong. Lots of industry there in the past? Lol, Yhana did very well walking that stony beach in flip flops lol 😆 I don’t think the area is good for swimming as the currents are strong and dangerous here, but there are a lot of water sport enthusiasts in the area 😊 I like lighthouses too 😊 sending our best and catch up soon 😊😊
