In 1969 he was also in D.C. He played on a small island in the Potomac while we, the audience, listened from the riverbank!🤗👍
Duke dancing and strutting it!! Nice
These horns have so much hold and control its mindblowing
Wonderful performance 👏 and Cat
both as soloist and lead trumpeter..is FRIGHTENING! Vaughn

This shows what a class act Duke was. He acknowledges he did not compose the piece and with a joke says he is just the piano player? He gives credit to others in the band. Duke was great- that goes without a doubt for myself, but as he acknowledges -so were the rest of his band.
Duke Ellington to the max, in all facets. All his art with his classics. Don't Get Around Much Anymore, with an immeasurable Johnny Hodges (listen here to Rufus Jones' beautiful shuffle and also his 4/4 bass drum); Tony Watkins' incredible dancing -and Duke's too (Ellington said he couldn't dance); a splendid Cootie Williams and a fine Cat Anderson. A unique orchestra! Thanks for providing this performance on UA-cam.
The camera work was so good.
Just another level of awesomeness and talent!!!🙏🙏🙏
Amazing, creative, soulful performances!
Todays gratitude list;: This video❤
Потрясный концерт и танец все в свое время Великие Джазмены😂
Excellence at its greatest.
The Duke always "knocks me out".
Just the greatest 😊❤️
Excellent concert all round, all top musicians. especially liked extended piano intro. 30:36
My great friend, mentor and teacher Jazz-organ pioneer Wild Bill Davis was with the band. Sadly the lousy organizer delivered just a small Hammond spinet organ. Not the ordered Hammond B3 or C3 full size instrument. So Wild Bill´s planned features on Satin Doll and April In Paris were cancelled. He just just arrived on stage for the strange final tune...
Johnny Hodges❤❤❤❤❤🎉
Great camera work also
