Lax Weekly Miles Thompson! He’s a world class finisher who uses off ball skill, size, and silky hands to beat the goalie. You showed the shooting side of scoring in this video with mac okeefe and i think you could do a good job showcasing the inside finishing side of scoring with Miles Thompson.
Such an amazing video. I'm an 8th grader trying to get better with my left hand and I learned a lot from this video. Thank you so much and keep it up! :)
Hi there id like to say thanks for the tips I'm a young girl who plays for a boys team and we play at 5/6 level right now so I've been hustling in my back yard to get better and the drill tips have been really helpful
Thank you so much! Way to go - hard work really pays off. Let me know if you have any questions or if there's anything I can do make your lacrosse game better!
Excellent video chock full of good points. If I may be so bold, go against the wall, shoot as hard as you can, and practice catching it behind your ear, lefty/righty, This will strengthen your wrists and arms... always wear a helmet, always wear your game gloves... that ball comes back at you in a hurry. @@LaxWeekly The summer of '66 I was down at the wall, I drilled a shot that was so hard, it came back at my head, I had to hit the deck or lose my teeth. I was the only player to devote so much time at the wall, I wasn't a Jimmy Lewis, but I became a great stick handler with a wicked shot. I was the featured extra-man shooter on the 1969-70 Nassau CC lacrosse team that won the first NJCAA title in 1970, had Doug Shreiber on my midfield.
@@LaxWeekly Watch major league pitchers. The fast ballers line up their arms right behind their back, as far back as possible, the trick is to not let the batter see the ball until it is past them. Same thing with today" goalies, they are VERY good. The lacrosse stick is an extension of your arm. The ball is hidden, make that big move - plant your lead foot and drive with the other, if you are a righty, at the release your right leg will fly up and give you max mph. You want it to be dramatic, if your defender bites on the big wind-up, face dodge him and get closer for a really nasty fastball. If you face dodge your defender, and the slide comes from the crease, dump the ball and your teammate shares the glory, always remember, two points on every play if possible. Big scorers have been shut down, so share the ball. Before every game, walk around the front of the goal and inspect it. Is it grass, dirt, is it hard like concrete are there stones which can make the ball go sideways? If it's a grass field and it is wet, shoot wormburners, they actually squib and go faster on wet surfaces. Practice bounce shots, they drive goalies crazy!
Joseph Obenauer thank you for sharing your vast lacrosse knowledge with me! I will certainly use these points in my future videos if you will let me. You explained everything so well, thanks again!
Love your channel. i have just started watching and love it. I am a player my self i play highschool and your videos have taught me a lot and improved my game. Thankyou keep it up.
Hey I just wanted to say that Will Manny on the Maryland Whipsnakes has the quickest release in lacrosse please comment on this if you can cause I want to hear what you think
loved the video man. One thing though when you're talking about O'keefe's off ball movement (from like 1:10 onward) i noticed the clips weren't exactly showing what you were talking about so for a next video or something just making the actual visuals relating to what you're talking about i think would help :) (just some constructive criticism sorry if it came off snobby or anything)
Thank you man! When I first got the notification for this comment I thought you commented "Your mom is hot" and I was like hmmm....But anyways thanks for subbing and lmk if you have any suggestions!
I’m trynna get his shooting form but I don’t understand how when he shoots, the stick comes parallel to his legs and shoots it like a up side down overhand. Any tips?
Really good question. Right now I don't think there are many good resources besides watching film on guys like O'Keefe. In the next week or 2, I'll make a video about off ball movement. Sound good? Thanks for the question :)
Cap it off with the most important part of O'Keefe's skill development: PLAY REAL BOX LACROSSE!! His time with Team USBOXLA gave him so many 'game speed' touches when a quick release was mandatory. The fact that he's an American playing A level box in Orangeville is astounding. #boxmakesyoubetter
1000% agree. Definitely will include the box influence in any future videos. I wasn't sold on box until the usa vs canada championship game. canada is unreal...
@@LaxWeekly Thank you very much! Box players don't get the credit they deserve from Field Lacrosse purists. I love both games. But just looking at the names on the lists of top scorers in NCAA history (Zach Greer, Connor Fields, Stan Cockerton, Gary Gait, Paul Gait, Mike French, Miles Thompson, Lyle Thompson, Merrick Thomson, Wes Berg, Tom Marechek, Mark Matthews, Mac O'Keefe, etc - all box-first lacrosse players, whether US-born, Canadian-born, or native-born), it's easy to see what the box game does for the all-around player. If you want to do a piece on a defender, here are a few box players that play great defense outdoors: Graeme Hossack, Brodie Merrill, and Ryland Rees.
Just don’t do it. You’re supposed to be shooting over your shoulder, that’s why you do it. When goalies at the next level figure out he shoots low to low almost exclusively he’s going to have problems. His form is brutal but obviously it works for him. However there’s thousands of kids trying to emulate this and missing the nets 90%+ of the time. Go emulate Ryan Brown or Deemer Class, not this bullshit.
@@justdylan742 Awesome! And yeah I agree lol, I still don't understand to this day how he gets so open. It's like defenses forget about him even though he scores 9 goals every game!
The other best shooter in the world. The only reason why I call Mac the best is because Ryan Brown actually said in a tweet one time that he thinks Mac is the best. Would love to do a break down on him soon
