I showed my son (8) Game of Death about a week go for the very first time. Also, we watched the redux version. He asked me about the other 2 floors/2 bosses that were supposed to be in that short movie. That redux version is gold.
What a great finish to Rick Baker's interview. He is so passionate about it. And he was correct on so many things such as the John Barry soundtrack and that Bruce should be seen on the big screen. When I saw the Artport version at the Robert Lee convention it was absolutely amazing. Made more exceptional as I didn't know the footage had been found. Is it as Bruce would have done had he completed we will never know. The Tao Te Ching says, "A great work is never finished." And so true that Bruce unites all of us. Great interview all round.😁👍🐉

@@CharlesDamianoBLC Love the shorts, especially anything Enter the Dragon. Just finished the bamboo whip but its not quite right. I used an electric wire for the spiral effect and wrapped masking tape around it. Its doesn't have the smooth finish I wanted so I'm going to try the plaster of Paris like Lionel did for a better look. Also the green paint I got was a little to bright. Overall pleased for a first attempt.👍
Great interview with rick Charles bought most stuff from rick over the years esp the bruce lee specials books mags ect always something new coming out. Bruce must of been the most photograph personwhen he was alive has theres still unseen photos coming out to this day. Carry on the good work Charles keeping the memory of bruce lee alive and well for years to come. 👍

It's amazing to me I'm still learning new things about Bruce after all this time but I remember thinking in 1973 this guy will last forever and I'm never surprised that he's still regarded as a true legend

I remember there was a guy from NYC that went by Little Saint. He teased everyone about extra floors that Golden Harvest did not have, it was later realized or implied that a former worker from GH took it, and later started Rainbow Video, which was the same before Tai Seng Video. He died from my understand, but he sold some footage of Angela Mao using a Rope and Sword on an unfinished floor to a private collector. Now I did not see this, but I mention this because it was the talk of the town over a decade ago…

When Rick complained that Peter Jackson said he was too busy AT THE PREMIER of his Lord of the rings movie, he was massively wrong to criticise him as harshly as he did. He probably spoke to him once, many years ago, and expected him to have a full blown conversation whilst every journalist, fan, friend, actor etc were all vying for his attention. It's a case of wrong place at the wrong time, and nothing more sinister.
Hi, I just wanted to provide some background information. I spent a week with Peter at a Berlin Film Festival where he was screening his film "Brian Dead", while I was on the same show screening "A.B.T 2" and "Tiger on the Beat 2". During this time, we became friends, primarily due to his love of old Kung Fu films and the fact that my brother lived quite close to him in New Zealand. After the festival, we flew back to the UK together before he returned to New Zealand. We stayed in touch for a while, and I even interviewed him for my magazine at the time, "Film Extremes". I just wanted to make it clear that I wasn't a fan who only met him once, and I felt bad when, for no apparent reason, he ignored me at the premiere of Lord of the Rings. I thought that perhaps his success had gone to his head since the days when we knew each other. I hope that clarifies things for you. - Rick
@@rickybaker5567 Thank you for elaborating, but I don't see it as ignoring you, I think, he may not have remembered you but whether he did or not, I doubt any director of a massive movie would have time to stop and chat with every person who wanted to, at it's premier. Jackson is known as a very humble man, and I am positive, ego didn't play a part.

This will be interesting to here Rick's take on the Redux version of Game of Death. Personally I think its the best so far in respect to John Barry's score being reintroduced to good effect. We will never know for sure what Bruce's total vision for the film would have been, considering he somehow had to shoehorn George Lazenby in somewhere. But as would most agree, it would probably been his finest film and one that a lot of us would have watched the most. BTW Charles I have a couple more Game of Death facts for you which I'll email to you later.😁🙏🐉

Ok.. so as a GOD historian in my own right. I have just about every version of this film over several platforms. The recent release of Arrow's Box Edition has filled in the gaps. I couldn't be more excited and finally at rest with it... until I heard about the REDUX. Here's a version of the Criterion Box set that I didn't even know was on there. Let's be honest with each other.. all releases are the same. Until the 4HD versions were released back in 2018. This Canavan "vision" was the worst of the lot... This idea was something I had wanted to do myself as a love project. OMG all this is, is Artport remastered footage, 1978 Golden Harvest, and John Little's Warrior's Journey audio mashed up. Why was this hyped up? It's horrible dubbing. Even the attempt at the mixing of the scores was just off. One year later, this is how bad this has been off my radar - and I wish it stood that way. Arrow's version is superior in footage while Artport's audio is still KING! I appreciate the efforts here as a fellow fan of the work, but cmon.. Do BETTER!
Al thanks for sharing your thought's and would have to agree that Arrow 4K version certainly fills in the gap and that entire box set was the best ever put out on Bruce Lee! They did an amazing job! the 1978 version was a disgrace and disrespectful to Bruce Lee for Chow and Clause to put out such crap! Warriors Journey to me is still the best Documentary on Bruce Lee's Game of Death! @Charles Damiano You too. I'm based in the UK London. I use to watch a lot of classical Kung Fu films as a kid because of my family. Then my mum brought a film with this guy screaming while he fights, I was hooked. It turned out that who I thought was bruce lee was actually Dragon lee lol I was only 5yro at the time lol once I did watch the real bruce lee there wasn't no going back. I was so disappointed to findout he was dead, the guy was a hero to me lol By the way the bruce lee films were heavily edited in the UK. Not just the scenes with the nunchucks, but total fight scenes were removed. I had the VHS bruce lee collection. All the covers were the same with just a different pic of lee. A discription of the VHS cover If I remember correctly it was a light blue background, with the name Bruce Lee in bold at the top, a pic of bruce from whatever film it is, with a thick red band below and the name of the film inside the red band. That's the collection I had back in the early 90s, Google it for giggles. Sorry your channel just brings back so many fond memories 😊

Excellent again Charles like with every good storyteller The the Masters genius brilliance always leave you wanting more to discover more enter the dragon did do a real good job of delivering the message and the understanding about the true meaning of the arts and life lessons game of death was to be the platform OB vision greater Heights of the continuation of brilliance and greater Heights and to be a very huge door opener this is why we remember the way the master lived not the way he left here too soon the movie was the definition of the teachings in the art of what he wanted to be heard as in terms of fighting in life that's why every floor had a different guy to adapt to change up to study to learn their way and use it against them as it is the man that makes the art not the art that makes the man to always be ready loose flexible being prepared for life and death battles that legendary tracksuit was the representation of that it was loose fluid and at every prospect of adaptability as it could blend in and be used for working out for fighting or just clothing to wear on a day out of course Longstreet that one scene about telling the guy to be prepared for death it didn't mean except losing as a way of life but don't be consumed by pre notions don't get caught up on winning and losing to the point where the reality could be losing to not be afraid to lay it all on the line not thinking but knowing what to do in any fighting situation or life situation and the guaranteed outcome will be by letting go of that fear of death and failure thus allowing freedom of expression freedom of art the understanding of disposing of one's enemy in a cool style efficient manner brilliance greatness innovation the essence of greatness sheer truth a Hero certainly for a young man to look up to greatness and rarity in a once-in-a-lifetime occurrence indeed a man who was ahead of the game of life let me rephrase that a man who is a head of the game of Life looking forward to this Charles excellent again keep up the good work the phenomenal work the great job. fantastic job 👊 brilliant as usual be well my friend and uphold the the Masters Mantle and memory continuously on the level of greatness you Shown on every occasion and here's to many more excellent
Hi Charles my son Has been looking for bruce lee films with deleted scenes and extra stuff including his original poster in side he has one for blu ray but I don't remember which movie it was out of all 5 of them he ends up with a dvd of them because its hard to find them on blu ray he was looking for them for blu ray included original film poster in side maybe he will have better luck with dvd and blu ray i will talk to him about it thanks

It's amazing to me I'm still learning new things about Bruce after all this time but I remember thinking in 1973 this guy will last forever and I'm never surprised that he's still regarded as a true legend

I remember there was a guy from NYC that went by Little Saint. He teased everyone about extra floors that Golden Harvest did not have, it was later realized or implied that a former worker from GH took it, and later started Rainbow Video, which was the same before Tai Seng Video. He died from my understand, but he sold some footage of Angela Mao using a Rope and Sword on an unfinished floor to a private collector. Now I did not see this, but I mention this because it was the talk of the town over a decade ago…

When Rick complained that Peter Jackson said he was too busy AT THE PREMIER of his Lord of the rings movie, he was massively wrong to criticise him as harshly as he did. He probably spoke to him once, many years ago, and expected him to have a full blown conversation whilst every journalist, fan, friend, actor etc were all vying for his attention. It's a case of wrong place at the wrong time, and nothing more sinister.

Hi, I just wanted to provide some background information. I spent a week with Peter at a Berlin Film Festival where he was screening his film "Brian Dead", while I was on the same show screening "A.B.T 2" and "Tiger on the Beat 2". During this time, we became friends, primarily due to his love of old Kung Fu films and the fact that my brother lived quite close to him in New Zealand. After the festival, we flew back to the UK together before he returned to New Zealand. We stayed in touch for a while, and I even interviewed him for my magazine at the time, "Film Extremes". I just wanted to make it clear that I wasn't a fan who only met him once, and I felt bad when, for no apparent reason, he ignored me at the premiere of Lord of the Rings. I thought that perhaps his success had gone to his head since the days when we knew each other. I hope that clarifies things for you. - Rick
@@rickybaker5567 Thank you for elaborating, but I don't see it as ignoring you, I think, he may not have remembered you but whether he did or not, I doubt any director of a massive movie would have time to stop and chat with every person who wanted to, at it's premier. Jackson is known as a very humble man, and I am positive, ego didn't play a part.

This will be interesting to here Rick's take on the Redux version of Game of Death. Personally I think its the best so far in respect to John Barry's score being reintroduced to good effect. We will never know for sure what Bruce's total vision for the film would have been, considering he somehow had to shoehorn George Lazenby in somewhere. But as would most agree, it would probably been his finest film and one that a lot of us would have watched the most. BTW Charles I have a couple more Game of Death facts for you which I'll email to you later.😁🙏🐉

I've always tended to think that the editing of G.O.D. would have been completely different if Bruce himself had been involved in it.

Ok.. so as a GOD historian in my own right. I have just about every version of this film over several platforms. The recent release of Arrow's Box Edition has filled in the gaps. I couldn't be more excited and finally at rest with it... until I heard about the REDUX. Here's a version of the Criterion Box set that I didn't even know was on there. Let's be honest with each other.. all releases are the same. Until the 4HD versions were released back in 2018. This Canavan "vision" was the worst of the lot... This idea was something I had wanted to do myself as a love project. OMG all this is, is Artport remastered footage, 1978 Golden Harvest, and John Little's Warrior's Journey audio mashed up. Why was this hyped up? It's horrible dubbing. Even the attempt at the mixing of the scores was just off. One year later, this is how bad this has been off my radar - and I wish it stood that way. Arrow's version is superior in footage while Artport's audio is still KING! I appreciate the efforts here as a fellow fan of the work, but cmon.. Do BETTER!
Al thanks for sharing your thought's and would have to agree that Arrow 4K version certainly fills in the gap and that entire box set was the best ever put out on Bruce Lee! They did an amazing job! the 1978 version was a disgrace and disrespectful to Bruce Lee for Chow and Clause to put out such crap! Warriors Journey to me is still the best Documentary on Bruce Lee's Game of Death!

@Charles Damiano You too. I'm based in the UK London. I use to watch a lot of classical Kung Fu films as a kid because of my family. Then my mum brought a film with this guy screaming while he fights, I was hooked. It turned out that who I thought was bruce lee was actually Dragon lee lol I was only 5yro at the time lol once I did watch the real bruce lee there wasn't no going back. I was so disappointed to findout he was dead, the guy was a hero to me lol
By the way the bruce lee films were heavily edited in the UK. Not just the scenes with the nunchucks, but total fight scenes were removed. I had the VHS bruce lee collection. All the covers were the same with just a different pic of lee.
A discription of the VHS cover If I remember correctly it was a light blue background, with the name Bruce Lee in bold at the top, a pic of bruce from whatever film it is, with a thick red band below and the name of the film inside the red band. That's the collection I had back in the early 90s, Google it for giggles. Sorry your channel just brings back so many fond memories 😊

Hi Charles my son Has been looking for bruce lee films with deleted scenes and extra stuff including his original poster in side he has one for blu ray but I don't remember which movie it was out of all 5 of them he ends up with a dvd of them because its hard to find them on blu ray he was looking for them for blu ray included original film poster in side maybe he will have better luck with dvd and blu ray i will talk to him about it thanks
