The excitement in Miah's voice when he said, "You have fish nets?" made me giggle.
Marriage goals
EXACTLY! 😅❤
Yes
Yeah, I think Miah may want Jess to get some fishnets😅
hahahaha..made me laugh, too!!
Sandy Brock is amazing and really kind if you get questions. She lives in Ontario same as me and yes it gets chilly up here! 🐑
Oh my, there was some wishfulness in Jeremiah’s ‘ you got fishnets?’ 😎
Love Sandy. Love sheep milk too, much better than cow or goat for me. ❤❤❤
Good to know I wasn't the only one who picked up on that change in tone in his voice!
She is amazing
I’m glad you pointed her to Sandy. She is a wonderful resource.
There certainly was a touch of wistfulness when she told him no...
Gabe popping up when you were looking at the bull was adorable.
It sounds biblical for Gabriel to be watching over the sheep! Lol 🐑
Hi Jess. Typically 3 sided shelters face east. They get morning sun in winter, block the north wind and provide shade in the summer.
Absolutely agree. I was thinking the sun in summer would be brutal. I'm in Georgia and the main plan is usually how to protect them from the heat, not the cold. Love to see goats in the plan again!
It didn’t surprise me when you said Sandy Brock’s name because it makes sense you would have viewers in common because you both show the good, the bad and the ugly days. Making you both folks that real people can relate to.
Love you both. 💙
According to the above mentioned Sandi the rams just don’t realize that they are big and strong and still want to play with you like they did when they were lambs and you handled them regularly.
Gosh, little Ben isn't really "little" anymore. ❤Such an awesome human being, he is.
It will be nice seeing you with goats again. Ben filming was cute! “The camera leads the way.”
I just love Ben's genuine curiosity!!
Omg more of Ben holding the camera narrating 😍 such a sweet voice
It is so awesome the way your son looks at you with those admiring eyes, and listens to every work you were speaking. His eyes are so expressive. I love the life that you and Miah are giving your children. I would love my grand kids to have this type of healthy lifestyle .
Hi Jess, greetings from Indian Trail, NC. Love the new camera! Picture is very sharp, clear and stable. Makes me feel like I am standing beside you as you walk and talk. ❤️
Re: questionable fashion statement when farming, I remember that my oldest brother decided that a pair of his worn out church dress pants could be relegated to barn attire. It was the 1970's and they were plaid. He said the cows wouldn't mind😅.
Sandy Brock I love her.
Sandi is so knowledgeable and easy to watch. She has so much experience and is so very honest!
Hi Jess. So you know, I’m always tempted to skip those commercials but I’ve leaned to watch them knowing that it’s another way I can support you. Great vlog.
You're the best!
I'm really loving all these vlogs you're putting out. It's adding to my winter happiness.
I just love my Alpine goats. We built what we call bunk beds in a lean to horse stall with ramps up to the top bunks. Beds are underneath blocking them further from weather. I bet a stanchion could be used as a step up to the bunk bed instead of a ramp.
Wow that new camera system is so great! Everything is so real! Wow I feel like I am right there!
Your excitement for getting the goats cannot be hidden, Jess!
I can attest to the power of rams, even smaller breeds. We had Shetland sheep and the rams were pretty docile, except during breeding season. I almost had my legs broken a couple times by not reading them right. They also had full curl horns. We did have one cardinal rule for touching rams, chin scratches are OK, head scratches were a no-no because that is their battle zone.
I love it when you have one or more of your sweet sons with you! Ben is such a little doll! I’d take one like him anytime even though I’m old enough to be his grandma! Such a sweet child! I really love your family and your farm and how you do things! Please never change! ❤❤❤
Jess, I hope you feel better soon. I also get migraines. They are worse in the winter because our SC weather likes to go from 83 degrees to 61 degrees for highs. When the high temps fluctuate like that it always gives me a migraine. For coffee, I put a little spat of butter in my and froth it. It makes it where I don't need any type of milk.
Loved seeing Ben hanging around and carrying the camera.
sandi is really good with her sheep and even if theirs a problem she's is quick to fix any issues i watch a lot of her videos and i personally like how she treats her animals to me if you take care of the animals then they will take care of you
So happy to hear that so many of us have watched Sandy . I found her before before starting with Jess in 2018. But Jess your my #1 Love. (I'm using one of my husband's tablets, This is Gail P.
Very happy for you to be able to have goats again Jess! Looking forward to them too right along with you! Blessings on your day Kiddo!🌻🐛💕
I love your hair like that. It is very cute and flattering!
Canada Geese = "Murder Chickens" 😆 Hi from Alberta where its trying to be spring today after the weather tried to kill us with cold last week.
I love you guys so very much! I love how you are real! It makes you so precious to us ! And you are such wonderful people. So very talented and great at sharing your knowledge!!! God bless you Jesse and Miah and all yer family! ♥️👩🌾♥️
Glad to hear you watched some of Sandi Brock videos - She has tons of content showing all kinds of lambing - she shares so many emergency births and some procedures and tools to save most of them - she also shares the heartbreak of loss.
Aww. The animals are all so adorable. Ben did a great job ❤
I'm so happy you can have goats milk. I'm allergic to milk protein, so no dairy of any kind for me. I didn't like any of the milk alternatives, so I'm a black coffee girl now. If I'm feeling wild, I will add vanilla or cinnamon 😋 😅
Blessings
Jess is going back to her roots! Goaties are coming!
I'm very excited about your goats!!
During the winter months I have made paddocks to rotate my goats in so as to help control the parasites. I love my goats!
Butterbur is commonly used to treat migraines. Has essentially no contraindications. My daughter and I have taken it for years for our allergies. Great herb! Hope you feel better soon.
Thank you for sharing even when you’re feeling poorly! So enjoy you!
*UM DOMINGO ABENÇOADO PARA VOCÊ 🌹 JÉSSICA👏🏻*
I've been running all day w "humidity hair" too...😅 Hoping the migraine doesn't follow! Good black coffee (Beulah!!) and lots of water takes the edge off my migraines. Great to see Ben out loving his farm family ❤
I’m excited you’re getting goats. No one can be sad if you see baby goats.
Your boys are so cute!! And Ben is sure growing fast! Great family honey!!
I was also going to suggest Sandy Brock when it comes to sheep, she’s awesome! Love her channel!
I always enjoy listening to you and Miah when you're planning things out. It's nice how you guys bounce things off each other. Miah was too cute with his commentary on your outfit. I chuckled when he said "You have fishnets??" I could almost picture his face with a mischievous smile on it when he said it. He seemed intrigued that you would mention them. :')
Looking forward to the goats! ☺🐐
Your boys are so sweet! So many truly happy smiles at your home! ❤️
Thanks for taking us along on your journey with your great family! Ben, you did great camera work! Blessings to all 🤗🇨🇦
I love watching Sandy Brock..she has a tender heart and big love for her animals..
oh! you have fishnet? lolllll valentine is coming soon Jess lolll
😂😂😂 I almost edited it out but how could I deny you all the laugh at that little lilt in his voice?! 😂❤️
@@RootsandRefugeFarm yep i heard that in his voice.. its lovely!!!!
The new camera is so clear! Nice Jess!
It's funny when one of your favorite youtubers finds another one of your other favorite youtubers. Sandi Brock is awesome.
Miah sounded excited for a moment.. "you have fishnets???" 🤣
“You have fish nets?” 🤣🤣🤣🤣
😂😂
Love the look! I am in Iowa so I am envious that you can wear shorts & a just a flannel shirt for a jacket in January. Thanks for popping in today. Cheers!
Jess, you should start a community of like minded farmers who can buy and sell from each other that have the same Farming practice.
I have a hard time finding buyers that appreciate holistically raised animals.
I giggled at Miah’s comments about your outfit.
I love your fashion. I’m sporting some clearance $7 Walmart sweats today.
Chris came home while I was watching this video and he thought you were in the living room with me. It tickled me. 💜
❤ I am so happy for you Jess 😊 goat mamas coming back🥰 🐐 so happy for you!!
Love the barn design; it's giving ideas.
I raised sheep for many years, you can’t go wrong watching Sandy Brock she does a great job. She is kind with her animals just like you are with yours. I so enjoy watching her as I do your shows
I am very excited for you to get goats again! I actually learned how to hand milk from one of your videos.
Linessa Farms is also very good for sheep info. I love Sandi Brock!
I looove Miss Sandi Brock. She is the best. I’ve learned so much and I don’t even have sheep! Lol
I can feel the spirit of Jesus in your videos.. even when you’re not specifically talking about it. also so cool to see parts of the farm from Ben’s point of view!
I had to get rid of my goatie girls after the price of hay tripled. It was the hardest thing I've had to do on the homestead, but with the price of hay and it being hard to come by, we had to. They live on a huge property now with a big herd and they are happy. I miss them desperately though. Hopefully one day I could have goats again. They really are my favorite farm animal, the GOAT of the farm if you will. 🤣
The tone of excitement in Jeremiah's voice "you've got fish nets?" was so funny. That would be my husband ❤😂 ~ Rhonda
Jess hope your migraine gets better. I get them and they’re no joke. God bless you.
Try making almond milk for your coffee. All you do is whiz some almonds with filtered water and add a little honey and a touch of salt and blend in a food processor or blender. Then strain out the nuts. Yum! It is a great replacement for just about any recipe calling for milk and it tastes way way better than cow's milk.
LOVING this video quality
LOVE the new camera! So realistic!
So hilarious.. Dogs vs Cats.. So true.. Good one Ben! And to think God spelled backwards is Dog.. And.. Yes, they are so humble and love us unconditionally like God does !
Love you & your smile, sweet giggle and sincere love for animals, farming, and loving on your Mama, Ben! What a great relationship between you two! You two always make my day!
Precious Jess let Ben know he has a fan! My 5 year old grandson often watches you with me he loves to be in the garden and he LOVES going out to pick something to eat. Every time he see Ben he will say “Yaya he is a farm boy like me!” He says they are going to be great friends when they grow up. Wouldn’t that be amazing!
Thank you for all that you bless us with!
Sure, the gardening book and homesteading books are great. But Jess, I’m waiting on that child rearing book to drop 😂 I love to see how you interact with your boys and never make them feel in the way or foolish for asking questions and getting involved in your ventures. Respect begets respect. Tell the world!
Looking forward to seeing the goat shelter!
I love Sheepishly Me! Sandi is awesome!
Great camera, very clear picture
"It will get cold again." I've been telling myself that over and over. 70 degrees in January really gets me wanting to plant something! All the things!!
This video helped my heart today, I’ve been waiting for you to get your goats back. The excitement is contagious. Unfortunately Thursday evening when I got home I found all of my goats killed by dogs… to say I’m heartbroken is an understatement. I lost my whole small dairy herd. Two of my does were what I had left from 15 years of bloodlines, their grandmothers and mothers were my girls first show goats. . So those blood lines are gone now. I still have the memories. Also I had just decided last year to start a new breeding project for my self now that my girls are all grown. I thought going just a bit smaller so trying mini lamanchas from one of our bloodlines. I had my first yearling doe that is now gone. I’ve lived on this property 20 years and have never had this happen. 4 pregnant does and two bucks are gone now. My barnyard has never been empty before. So a big adjustment. I’m working with the sheriff to get these dogs off our roads and mostly wanting awareness to dog owners please be responsible. Others in our area have lost small livestock over the last week.
Any way sorry about the long post, mostly wanted to say your new goats are going to help my heart heal.. blessings on your new adventure.
Oh my goodness what a heartbreaking loss. I am so so sorry.
Thank you so much. It’s going to be an adjustment not having them. I’m am super excited to follow you on your goat adventure.❤
Jealous of the weather. We are frozen and under snow right now. I was warm enough that we should have ice everywhere tomorrow. Excited to see the goats again. Going to be so adorable with kids, lambs, and calves around!
Here in NW KS, we're supposed to get up yo 56 today and the forecast is calling for a 63-degree day this week! I hope that's not a sign of summer coming in hot and fast this year.
65 years ago.. My Mama was helping Daddy with the sheep. They were in a fairly small yard and Mom was by the fence... She said she didn't like the way the ram was looking at her and she put her hands on the top rail of the fence and swung her legs over the fence..as the ram hit the fence where she had been standing. curly horns full tilt... She was 8 months pregnant with my older sister.
I love it. Your outfit. Me too on rainy or lounge days. Usually nothing matches and I pull on my tall rubber boots.... That really gives me style. Hahaha
“You got fishnets?”……LOLOLOLOL
Right??? Totally cracked me up...
Ben is so inquisitive and cute!
“They feed me, they water me: they must be God.” I love his thoughts❤ we all love your family.
You said you’re in shorts in January because you’re made for SC lol I thought right on!! My aunt had to come to TN during our snow and she said CO is not as cold as TN, she said it’s a different freezing/wet cold here in TN. I was surprised and proud of our tolerance lol
This new camera really gives a reality tv vibe wow.. the difference is stark! It seems like your face has changed but I know it’s just the camera. Wild. Love ya girly thanks for the videos ❤
Have you seen the "deck chair" for sheep? A sheep hammock that allows you to safely restrain and work on a sheep. Looked perfect for small flocks and they're very affordable as well. From Sandi you probably learned to watch for a very full, very pink udder when the ewe is close to lambing. I can't wait for your ewes to have their babies because there's nothing cuter than baby lambs.
Love the curls!
Jess- I love all your videos for so many reasons and I rarely comment because there's always so much to say! I think your 'fit today is super cute- especially when sidekick Bear's tail looks like your own! 😂 I think a Goatie Girl sticker would be so stinkin cute!- of course with fishnets! Ben- thanks for asking all the questions I would've asked if I were there! Also, love your cool jersey and funny jokes! Always so nice to catch up with all of you on all the channels and I'm sooo excited to see the table in action soon ! ❤❤❤
I LOVE Sandi Brock! She treats her sheep like pets even though they are not (besides The Golden Girls).
Jess, I was a teenager in the 90s, you need jean shorts with fishnets or jeans with the knees torn with combat boots, you'd be set. Lol.
Ps. We live in Michigan. My son wears shorts in the winter, you're good. Lol.
If you are using the new camera - love it the picture is beautiful just like you all are!
I think that Ben needs to hold the camera more often, it was so cute "The camera leads the way"
😂 Ben's dog and cat joke. I'm yoinking that
Ah Jess, you’re a goatie mama at heart! I’m so glad you’re getting some goatie girls again.💕
You certainly have a lot of water!!! Coyotes are opportunistic and will come to where the pickin's are easiest even if there is food everywhere. I don't know if you thought of this, but when you were talking about the goat pen, I kept thinking that an alley way running down the length of the cattle pen might be a good idea. A little more work having to run another fence, but I feel it could be advantageous. I see they got the glass out. Looking good.
such a fun video!!
Miya, us Seattle people will happily welcome you with coffee and Nirvava!
I just love love love you 🥰 your awesome 💕thank you so much for always being real, imperfect and vulnerable! I feel like I have a friend in you 🥰 I’m so hard on myself and you help me to “just be ok” with myself 🥹💕
I have absolutely gardened in that attire lol
LoL I giggled out loud when You said your attire needed fishnets and Miah said "You have fishnets?" Like he was hopeful bahahahahahaha yall are too cute together!❤ love yall and your content!!😊
Enjoyed the video
It doesn’t matter whether they’re hand raised or not, they’re never to be trusted! I had a “nice” Suffolk ram who I say was nice cause he gave you plenty of warning before he rammed you 🤣 I had another & kept only long enough to breed my flock & then he went to auction (and chased the guys there when I unloaded him!)
I love it Ben (?)!! That’s my favorite joke 😂
Jess...I can tell you from watching Sandi that sheep don't require as much attention during delivery as goats do. They are pretty much self sufficient. You might need a long glove & a bucket of warm water nearby to bring up the body temp of the new lamb in an emergency.
