58:50 lol Caller : "Do you think WWF will become stupid and put Linda or Steph as the leader of ECW" Meltzer and Alvarez : Nah not a chance. Caller nailed it. That same night was the epic turn of the WWF talent to ECW and then they trashed the entire angle by revealing Steph as the new leader of ECW just as RAW was about to go off the air.
It's so weird to listen to the somber tone of this show, knowing that Wrestling Observer Live is still on the air to this very day. It actually blows my mind that WOL has had a longer run on Sports Byline than it did on Eyada. Also, if WCW would've taken the Monday night timeslot, I HIGHLY doubt that the show would've been called "WCW RAW". Vince wouldn't have allowed a television show he created to be associated with the company that nearly put him out of business. His pride would not have permitted that to happen.
Also question, would you happen to have some Wrestling Observer Live episodes from either 2006 when the ECW reboot started, or July 2008 when the WWE PG announcement was made? Those are pieces of history I'm VERY interested in because I was much younger back then and had a different view of things as a young fan who was impressionable. It would be VERY interesting to hear what the wrestling media thought at those points in time.
It’s always so interesting to go back and read what fans on the internet and the media thought about things that happened when you were younger, I learned recently tons of people were actually begging for Steve Austin to turn heel at mania 17, I’d always assumed nobody wanted it because so many people were upset by it
@bobsucks9647 That's exactly why I would like to listen to pieces of media from specific time periods of my early fandom. July 2008 was one of those very weird times in my fandom where I was starting to get disconnected from the WWE product and getting into other companies because 9 year old me was curious to see what else was out there, but I still didn't understand what the big deal was about WWE going PG. The product was already significantly toned down by then anyway, so I didn't get it but it's always been a hot-button issue with older fans. So I'd love to see what the wrestling media thought when the announcement was first made official on WWE's corporate site.
