- This great hymn is by St. Bernard of Clairvaux. The background image is "Christ's charge to Peter" by Raphael. The Latin lyrics and English translation follow:
Jesu, dulcis memoria,
dans vera cordis gaudia:
sed super mel et omnia
ejus dulcis praesentia.
Nil canitur suavius,
nil auditur jucundius,
nil cogitatur dulcius,
quam Jesus Dei Filius.
Jesu, spes paenitentibus,
quam pius es petentibus!
quam bonus te quaerentibus!
sed quid invenientibus?
Nec lingua valet dicere,
nec littera exprimere:
expertus potest credere,
quid sit Jesum diligere.
Sis, Jesu, nostrum gaudium,
qui es futurum praemium:
sit nostra in te gloria,
per cuncta semper saecula.
Amen.
Jesus, the very thought of Thee
With sweetness fills the breast!
Yet sweeter far Thy face to see
And in Thy Presence rest.
No voice can sing, no heart can frame,
Nor can the memory find,
A sweeter sound than Jesus' Name,
The Saviour of mankind.
O hope of every contrite heart!
O joy of all the meek!
To those who fall, how kind Thou art!
How good to those who seek!
But what to those who find? Ah! this
Nor tongue nor pen can show
The love of Jesus, what it is,
None but His loved ones know.
Jesus! our only hope be Thou,
As Thou our prize shalt be;
In Thee be all our glory now,
And through eternity. Amen.
Thank you Jesus for what you've done for us all.
thanks obama
Thank you GOD for bring us Our Savior. May we be ready to accept Him again in All that we do.

This is what I missed out on all my young years growing up in the Novus ordo Catholic Church. As I continuosly was exposed to Hagen Hass and schuttes , I longed for hymns that are profound meditational and prayerful
That's inspiring and instructional to hear, demonstrating what is lost after Vatican II. Muslims retain their Arabic, Jews their Hebrew, orthodox their Greek or Russian, but Roman Catholicism has lost its beautiful core. We sang this chant in Catholic school in New England a long time ago and another mindset.
It is a poem of St. Bernard: "Jesus sweet memory." In short, it is a poem that describes the joy he finds the soul to be united to Jesus. This joy is greater than the sweetness of honey, so that one can say, there is no sweeter thought to think about Jesus.
I feel exactly like this when I think in Jesus...
GRACIAS
HOY MÁS lo necesitamos.🙏🙏🙏🙏
DIOS te BENDIGA POR SIEMPRE
HASTA su ENCUENTRO EN EL.NUEVO CIELO Y tierra NUEVA 🙏🙏🙏
In fact, it says that it is sweet to "think" about Jesus (Jesu dulcis memoria), that it gives true joy to the heart, but that, more than honey and anything, His Presence is sweeter (sed super mel... eius dulcis presentia) :)
Amen
Please Vatican bring back the Latin Masses and the Latin High Mass - please we are begging you.
The Devil that rules the Vatican now doesn't care what ya want.

Thank you!
St Bernard of Clairvaux, pray for us
Deo Gratias. Praised be the holiest name of Jesus, both now and forever!
Gloria in excelsis Deo. Gratias.
I listened and listen to this song and I am always relaxed. I used to sing it 50 years ago during my childhood in the seminary.
So they still practiced the true Rite of Holy Orders when you were in the seminary?
How Catholic. How like this it must be in Heaven!
O Jesu, no word is sung more sweet than this,
No sound is heard more full of bliss! ❤
GRATIAS DEO!
Remember, Christ saves NOT the church. The true church is invisible t us but known to God.
@@lylianmunoz3856 that's not true. Church is visible.
@@larrygraysmith8411Indeed it is. Church is real and visible union of faithful, Mystical Body of Christ.
God bless the people who put this song and worship.God bless. AMO💒
Beautiful!

We use to have a Cloister Nuns Monastery. In the Summer when the Holy Sister's were Chanting it sounded so heaven on earth.
Excellent.
I like very very much.
Lord Jesus Christ, I bow to Thee.
Beautiful.. Amen.

Paz e bem

Creeper Pro hes saying what a bad situation the catholic church is in nowadays
@@parthiancapitalist2733 He had the opportunity to listen to this hymn when he was in a catholic spiritual retire.
Unfortunately there are very few Catholics churches playing and singing gregorian chants, actually.
I don't know how and why this kind of music is not promoted more in parishes (?)
Es dulce el recuerdo de Jesús,
que da verdaderos gozos al corazón
pero cuya presencia es dulce
sobre la miel y todas las cosas.
Nada se canta más suave,
nada se oye más alegre,
nada se piensa más dulce
que Jesús el Hijo de Dios.
¡Oh Jesús!, esperanza para los penitentes,
qué piadoso eres con quienes piden,
qué bueno con quienes te buscan,
pero ¿qué con quienes te encuentran?
¡Oh Jesús!, dulzura de los corazones,
fuente viva, luz de las mentes
que excede todo gozo
y todo deseo.
Ni la lengua es capaz de decir
ni la letra de expresar.
Sólo el experto puede creer
lo que es amar a Jesús.
¡Oh Jesús! rey admirable
y noble triunfador,
dulzura infefable
todo deseable.
Permanece con nosotros, Señor,
ilumínanos con la luz,
expulsa las tinieblas de la mente,
llena el mundo de dulzura.
Cuando visitas nuestro corazón
entonces luce para él la verdad,
la vanidad del mundo se desprecia
y dentro se enardece la Caridad.
Conoced todos a Jesús,
invocad su amor,
buscad ardientemente a Jesús,
Thank you So Much for Sharing This Wonderful Treasure ! It Blesses All !
Grace Virtue Mercy from OUR LORD JESUS TO ALL 🙏🌹🙏
A literal transition of the text:
The sweet memory of Jesus
Giving true joy to the heart:
But more than honey and all things His sweet presence.
Nothing more delightful is sung,
Nothing more pleasing heard,
Nothing sweeter thought,
Than Jesus, the Son of God.
O Jesus, hope of the penitent,
How gracious you are to those who ask
How good to those who seek you;
But what [are you] to those who find?
No tongue may tell,
No letter express;
He who has experience of it can believe What it is to love Jesus.
O Jesus, may you be our joy,
You who are our future reward.
May our glory be in you
Throughout all eternity.
Amen

Not really. It was the language of the elite and used to keep the church exclusive for centuries. The church has always been a source of contention against the people in the same way the U.S. government is today. Ever buy a car or take out a credit card? You know all that legal speak in the "fine print" that nobody understands at the end of the contract? The stuff that you can't understand that is used against you? To cripple you in debt? Well that legal speak was LATIN back in the day. The church leaders tip toed around the people keeping them in control by using language they couldn't understand. Martin Luther changed all of that.
@@darrinsiberia Interestingly, similar arguments were put forth by Joseph Ratzinger (sic!) during Vaticanum II, where he strongly supported the abolition of the Latin mass, because (he argued) the Latin language alienates the faithful from the church. Actually, Latin is a particularly problematic language because it is so inconsistent and comlicated that it is very difficult to learn and therefore accessible only to a small educated elite. I guess that even very few belonging to the catholic clerus can have and understand a small chat in Latin. Esperanto (originally devised as a Latin relacement) seems to be a perfect solution, because it is versatile, consistent and easy to learn (some liturgical books have already been translated and approved by the vatican), but it does not have much support in the church.
I think should also preserve both latin and language which Jesus spoked
Sandesh Guria Nah sorry they both dead. We should focus on preserving German
