They'd be intellectual bruises all over shapiro. Talking points don't fly very well against kyle.
it needs to be done, shapiro needs to be slammed for being incorrect on some key issues as he hasn't really had any hard challengers last i've checked.

Clavitz Rain I'm conservative and I agree with you. I generally like Ben alot but I disagree with him on military spending and the tax bill. I support tax cuts but not ones that raised the deficit and hurt people making less than $75,000 a year.

From (the little) I hear about him he always keep his line of thought, what actually happens when one is smart is that you end up tripping over your tongue because one can't match the speed of the toungue and thought, while ben just keep both at the same fast speed (and probably most talking points are pre made)

American Ivy League schools: 15% of students are hard working people from less privileged backgrounds who deserve to be there/ 85% are rich slackers whose parents "donated to" (polite way of saying "bribed") the university.
Harvard and Yale are just the "Coors" and "Budweiser" of American education; you can get just as good of, if not better, an education from any community college in the country.

I've posted a couple variations of this, but to be a celebrity on the modern right you need billionaire funding and connections to right wing media to get promoted. Shapiro has to tow the line with the rest of the right or we would never hear about him.

@ Jim Garrison ... Word has it that Ben Shapiro has a dual citizenship with the USA and Israel. How ironic that he would want to spend America's money on the military....as typically the USA supports Israel in conflicts. OF COURSE HE WANTS THE USA TO SPEND SPEND SPEND ON THE MILITARY!!! He seems to have just a TINY LITTLE CONFLICT OF INTEREST.
Frankly....I always used to be empathetic to Israel as well. BUT: I REMEMBER ISRAEL WHEN IT BOMBED THE USS LIBERTY ....INTENTIONALLY!!!! I ALSO WAS NOT TOO HAPPY ABOUT THE 9-11 "DANCING ISRAELIES " SCANDAL. It sure seems like Israel is not above provoking situations to induce the USA to support them. I am now VERY skeptical about this "Friendship". AT THE VERY LEAST I DO NOT APPROVE INCREASING FUNDING OF THE MILITARY.....let them work out a reasonable budget just like every family in America has to.

But I suspect you might be right wrt role modelling and education, although I think there are probably more factors at play in today's crazy political climate where figures like Shapiro can become popular.
Fear related to the inevitability of globalization (something that shouldn't be fought against imho, but it is a difficult thing to deal with), extreme polarization as a symptom of super optimized social media-powered echo chambers. The world is changing quickly, and it seems we're increasingly losing the ability to take a moment to think before settling into some judgmental opinion.

YES,BUT, since Reagan deficits started to rise b/c taxes were cut for the rich, then they turned to the SS Trust Fund of $2.6 trillion at the time, borroeong from it to run gov't and Reagan admin raised payroll tax, and then raided the fund again as did Bush and Bush 2 and now Congress doesn't want to pay it back, so that is why they can say cut it, as it comes from the General fund from which they're supposed to raise taxes to pay it back from, but instead the taxcuts are now permanent.

@ Cheyron ... Of course he loves America: he's an Israeli dual-citizenship American. Gee....Israel depends on American Military presence....not too hard to figure why he'd want more spending for the military while spending the USAs money to Israel's advantage. Duh. In the meantime...he recommends more military spending while he drains the blood out of the funds that the largest generation in history in the USA PAID INTO ALL THEIR LIVES?????? Excuse me: I still remember when Israel INTENTIONALLY bombed the USS LIBERTY.....and I remember the "Dancing Israelis" incident DURING 9-11!!!! We've been a good friend to Israel forever.......but something is REALLY WRONG WITH THIS PICTURE!!!
Guarandamntee it: anybody comes to touch the investments that the baby boomers have made into Social Security ALL THEIR WORKING LIVES to secure their older years.....there's going to be a revolution. Big one.
There's a LOT of us out here!!! We know how to organize and protest. We have paid for ALL the wars we never wanted (including the Vietnam war)....and LOTS of us STILL BELIEVE THAT PEACE IS THE ANSWER....NOT WAR!!!! Try to touch Social Security, and the nation is going to have approx. 75 million older people up in arms. We did not have OUR money taken from us and put into trust with the Federal Government just to have them go and fund the military with it. NOPE. And our money is NOT here to fund the millennials, either: put your OWN contributions into Social Security, kiddies.....that's how it works.

      @blondwiththewind 6 років тому +2

@ Cheyron ... Thank you for your balanced response.
Learning about the USS Liberty was a real stunner for me, too. I remembered the incident on the news when I was VERY young.....but the subject went suddenly, completely, and oddly very quiet. Since the internet came "of age"....the information has resurfaced. It is thought that the Israelis bombed the USS Liberty in a effort to result in a larger US presence in the Middle East at a time when our military was largely involved with the Vietnam War. Obviously it is to Israel's advantage to have a large US military presence in the Middle East....and in those days Israeli/Palestinian issues were very raw and often resulted in warring in the Middle East: including the "Six Day War"....which I also remember very clearly. I was 10 years old then.....and a precociously bright and an unusually socially concerned youngster. Reports included information that the Liberty had been positively identified by Israeli pilots in their aircraft: and they had conveyed that information by radio to their command. Some of the Israeli pilots (or at least one) refused to fire on
the Liberty. More than thirty of our sailors and intelligence staff were killed in the bombing of the Liberty by the Israeli planes.
The issue of the "Dancing Israelis" during the 9-11 disaster was one of the myriad of perplexing reports. They were definitely Israelis....they were arrested...and an investigation was conducted. There's a lot of information online about the incident....and a lot of confusion about the details....and the outcomes of the incident and those involved were quite perplexing to the Americans that did know about the incident. A search of the relevant search criteria should provide you with a lot of information to consider..........with an open mind.
Now: I want to make it very clear that this information caused me a LOT of consternation when I learned (piece by piece) of BOTH of these incidents. I was raised by Grand-Parents who were from the Great Depression/WWII era...."salt of the earth" kind of people. That generation was called "The Greatest Generation"...and for good reason: courage, honesty, integrity, and a willingness to help others was prevalent. I was raised that way as well: and to "ALWAYS DO THE RIGHT THING" was the mandate of every day of my up-bringing.....and for the rest of my life ever since then. My family was involved greatly in WWII, suffered deaths of their kin, and life-long injuries to some of them. My family was Christian, and I was raised that way, too....but they were also very benevolent in spirit, with a great amount of empathy for Jews, and they were heart-broken about the holocaust. NEVER have I been anti-Jewish or anti-Israeli. NEVER. Often I have stood up for them when others were bashing them verbally and making far-flung accusations. I've had NOTHING but great admiration for Israel and their struggles....and I've always wished for Peace in the Middle East. I am devoted to my country....but there have been many incidents I've come to know about that leave an apparent question mark on the matter of "What is truth....and What is cover-up?" Outcomes of issues often seem to be questionable: IF you look at both sides of the story with open mind, and an interest in TRUTH. It is not lost on me that it sure seems like there have been incidences that Israel may have incited events to cause the USA to be more involved in the Middle East than might otherwise have happened. And now this "Ben Shapiro" thing.....his double citizenship with Israel/USA....and his interest in building up the US military at great expense to our country AND especially at the expense of those of us approaching our elder years. I come from a very patriotic and honest family....and I've often ditched my own comfort and acted selflessly in the interest of personal integrity and "ALWAYS DOING THE RIGHT THING". I do not arrive at these uncomfortable thoughts easily. BUT I DO HAVE TO SAY THAT AGAINST MY DIFFERING WISHES: IT DOES SEEM LIKE SOMETHING IS VERY, VERY WRONG WITH THIS PICTURE.
      Peace n' Love.....

@ Cheyron ... Not a lot of time right now....but I did want to reply. Certainly those discussions would be interesting....perhaps over time?? Feel free to stay "in touch" if you wish.
I did want to get back here with a quick message. There is much more to the "Dancing Israelis" than "just five guys dancing". Follow that story line down with appropriate search criteria....and you will see the concerns are very similar to the story of the USS Liberty....and eventual international outcomes. The people involved were VERY connected: before and after the actual "dancing" part.
As for the "short story" about me (which can not even begin cover "My Story": You've heard some things about my youth and upbringing. I remember JFK, and I still have the MIA bracelet that I wore from sixth grade to my college years. "My" soldier never came home from the Vietnam War...the bracelet is still on my bedstand less than 2 feet away from me every night. I've been in a very challenging "helping" profession for decades (with a degree of esteem, recognition, and accomplishment) ....a strong advocate for change where needed, as well as for those with unmet needs who can not advocate for themselves...a long history of activism AND volunteerism (including working on ecology issues and I helped "save the whales" in the late seventies....you like whales? You're welcome!!! :-)....Civil Rights, Peace (since the Vietnam war era), ecology, activism, volunteerism, advocacy, as well as trying my best to live a life where I "practice what I preach" . My promise to myself every day since I was in high school (not just to "do the right thing" :-) "Do something EVERY DAY to make the world a better place...in big and small ways...EVERY DAY". I am a product of the "Peace and Love" generation as well...and pretty much agree with a lot of the Hippie movement (but not so much about the drugs/sex thing). HINT: I'm proud to say I've been an SJW since the 70s and a "sensitive snowflake" as well. And that "Do The Right Thing" and "Make the World a Better Place" attitudes eventually led me (in a very convoluted process) to becoming a real-life whistle-blower (in a very scary place that needed a LOT of change....and lives were at risk). I've spoken "Truth to Power" for the benefit of "things larger than myself".....My life has required every bit of Courage, Strength, and Integrity that I have. That "Do the Right Thing" ideal has NOT always made my life easier....and sometimes the journey has been down-right difficult....but that ideal has never led me astray, either. I am very proud of who I am....but I know darned well that I would not be who I am had it not been for my good fortune to have been raised by grandparents from "The Greatest Generation". And my "journey" continues still.....
Feel free to contact me if you want to have those discussions.

The ISP's can slow down any content they want. It's both an anti-trust issue and a free speech issue.
I'll tell you what will happen, companies flush with corporate profits and influence will get fast lanes. Anyone without money or mainstream views will be slowed down.
This is just another way to monopolize the established powers at a break neck pace.
Any news site that doesn't tout a pro corporate agenda will be slowed. And competitors to Amazon, Netflix, Facebook, and Google will also be slowed.
Make no mistake, the ISP's will collude with the already established media players. Capitalism's oldest playbook is to appear like there is competition. When you dig deeper, you realize all the large companies collude together and create the illusion of competition. It's an insiders club where everyone agrees to act in lock step to capture more market share. Only on the margins do they compete to fool the public.

Anonymous DueToFascists first of what are you saying? Nothing you said was a cause of concern. And no it isnt a monopoly. The free market works the same way in any level of society.
I dont see the concern if an isp wants to work with another company to give their customers deals. Why should the government use force to make these private businesses conduct business to their means. Thats communist mentality at the end of the day.
If tmobile wants to team up with netflix because they made a deal at the expense of another companies system being slowed such as amazon prime then i dont see the problem. I saved 180 dollars this year on netflix alone. Ill pay 5 more bucks a month to get more bandwidth if i also cant watch hulu and amazon at the speed of my liking....

So love your Shapiro act. And it's so true. Ben takes sophistry to a whole new level. And in case anyone doesn't know what sophistry is, I believe the Webster's definition goes something like this: an argument that on the surface appears to be logical and reasonable, but upon closer examination begins to fall apart. What you need to do when listening to Shapiro is to put the video in slow mo, take notes, and you too will begin to see his reasoning fall apart

I watch his show regularly and he didn't say jack shit about it when it was tax cuts for him and his bosses, but on this he talks shit about the deficit to make him LOOK principled. Defense spending was 10% of GDP in 1960, now it is around 3%. To say it is a waste is not true as it has been shrinking for over 50 years.

    • @whyamimrpink78
      @whyamimrpink78 6 років тому

"That's a moronic statistic to measure defense spending. "
No its not as it is a set comparison to a standard. GDP is going up, defense spending isn't.
"When you spend more money on the military than the next 8 nations combined,"
A very deceptive stat. First off, when you look at percent of GDP and you combine the GDP of all of those nations, they spend around 2.5% of their GDP on defense, we spend 3.5%. Yes, it is higher, but only by a difference of 1%. We spend more on education than Germany, the UK and France combine. Should we cut education spending? Or is it that our GDP is so much larger then them that it only makes sense that we spend more then them combine?
"To just compare the percent of GDP that defense spending had 58 years
ago with the present is a overly broad, misguided, and down right
      stupid."
But comparing defense spending to 8 combined countries with a fraction of our GDP isn't? France has a GDP that is 1/10 of ours, how can you compare raw dollars at that point. Again, we spend more on education then France, is that bad?

    • @JohnDoeHumdrum
      @JohnDoeHumdrum 6 років тому

      1960 U.S. GDP = $543.3 Billion, 10% for military = $54.33 Billion.
2017 U.S. GDP = $19.73 Trillion, 3% for military = $592.17 Billion. So no, military spending hasn't "been shrinking", in fact the contrary is true.

litoo2002. No, you cant raise corporate tax and get more revenue. Companies stop investing in the US then, and make investment in more companyfriendly countries. How bout having the same taxrate as canada, as you leftist see that as a shining light for the US.
Interestrate on the issued bonds dont change. Newly issued bonds might have higher interestrate. It depends on the rating the US has when they sell them. Mostly sold to other countries and investmentbanks. When Germany goes to good, and they have top creditrating, they sell bonds with low interest, and cools down their economy with buying bonds from other countries that have higher interests. Every country does this, to cool down their economy. China has bought up most from the US the last 20 years, just for this reason.

The argument about not debating Shapiro is very inconsistent and illogical. Kyle said that it's useless to debate him because he (Kyle) is "objectively right" and Shapiro is "objectively wrong". Let's suppose this is true. Then WHY does he keeps talking about Shapiro's views/opinions? Presumably, Shapiro's fans are not going to change their minds according to the assumption that they are "closed minded". Assuming that Shapiro is "objectively wrong", then Kyle talking about his views would be like talking about someone who thinks the earth is flat. What is the objective then, to talk about Shapiro? Other than to give those who hate Shapiro support and more confirmation bias? It's absurd. I'm starting to think that this is not the real reason why Kyle and many of his followers don't want a debate against Shapiro.

Why does he lie about social programs taking up more than half the budget? The military program is MORE than half the budget. Don't lie about it, shows he has no principles.

He's an unscrupulous cunt who relies on cult minded people to gobble up his bullshit. Luckily, rational people don't do that and they fact check so they know that people who say such things are utter cunts.
He clearly thinks very little of human beings in general.

MudnavI did you even read the link you posted. According to your link the government spends 25% on social security and 16.2 % on Defense/homeland security when you look at the total amount the government spends (as in discretionary + mandatory spending).

Ending world hunger costs just $30 billion/year. Ending homelessness in the U.S. costs $20 billion/year, and providing free tuition for public colleges and universities would cost $50 billion/year. Our priorities are waaay outta whack.
We could slash our military expenditures in half and still spend far more on it than any other nation. If we did that and then invested the aforementioned $30 billion to end world hunger, wouldn't that make us far more safe and secure than what we're doing now? Seriously, who would attack the country that fed every man, woman and child on the planet?

It isn't that easy. With homelessness you may be able to give them all a home, but long term they will destroy the public housing. They are homeless for a reason.

It's actually cheaper to house the homeless ($10k/yr per person) than to leave them on the streets, which costs us $30k/yr per person in various services (hospitals, police, sanitation, and more). And besides that, doesn't a "housing first" policy make more sense? If someone is homeless, there are myriad reasons why, whether it's a string of bad luck, domestic abuse, lack of affordable housing, substance abuse, our shitty system, mental illness, etc. Or any combination of these barriers. How are they supposed to work on any of these issues and make progress on them in any meaningful way when they face an endless scramble to find drinking water, bathroom facilities, a dry, safe (ish) place to sleep, and other basic necessities? Not to mention the crushing loneliness that comes with the territory? How is anyone supposed to "better themselves" while in the midst of these nearly insurmountable obstacles? It can be done without help, but it's enormously difficult for most, and even impossible for some.
No, it makes the most logical sense to me to house these folks FIRST *and then* give them a case worker and access to resources that would help them overcome whatever the underlying cause of their homelessness was. Given this opportunity, most people would make enormous progress and when they do well, that benefits the health, strength and well-being of our entire society. And I haven't even touched on the humane morality of a "housing first" policy. I'm an atheist, but that's the most Christ-like thing we could do, with the added bonus that it not only saves us money, but makes us stronger as a whole. We can't afford *NOT* to, if you ask me.

The value of having two oceans between us and any possible enemy is priceless. A quadrillion dollars of military spending would not come close to equaling the strategic value of having two big oceans between us and potential enemies. We don't need a foreign military base, let alone 190+ around the world.
We as Americans are safe because of WHERE we are born. Others are unsafe Largely in part to being born in an area deemed an enemy of the us. They can't ever reasonably hope to aspire to threaten us. But a majority of Americans would rather literally give money away to rich/connected people that plan on killing those same unlucky people, than give the money to their fellow citizens .😭 raising the floor is always better than raising the ceiling.
