Hm, interesting indeed. When you demonstrated how to create a word search puzzle you've used words related to a specific topic, but when you created a crossword all words were random. Based on your experience, what kind of puzzle books sell well? Those which are created around a specific topic, or those with random words? Is it a good idea to build each puzzle (not the whole book) around a specific theme, such as puzzle 1 - animals, puzzle 2 - movies etc.? I mean it would be hard to find so many words about a certain theme which have 10 letters or less.
I’ve found more success with themed books and then the puzzles within the book carry over that theme. They don’t have to be super stringent. For example, if I did a puzzle book around the theme of cinema, I could have a puzzle about 70s films, another puzzle about actors, another about theater snacks, etc. Also, don’t be worried about not repeating words across puzzles. I wouldn’t reuse them a lot but using the same word across a couple puzzles in the book, as long as the puzzles are not close together, has never been an issue for me.
@@KeithWheelerBooks I don't know, I think there is so much trademarked stuff when it comes to movies and music. You can't use actors' names, their quotes, movie and song titles etc. It is like a minefield to me to be honest.
I'm looking for mini puzzle books 4"x5.5" , sudoku, word search, kriss kross, flower power, quote falls. Penny Press sells them in grocery stores usually when I'm broke, it's "rare" when I might find two. I would like to subscribe and get them at least every other month. Penny Press doesn't even have these mini books online. Others call "mini" 6x8 that is not pocket sized!
Sounds like you’ve found a niche with a need. Perhaps you can be the one to create the mini puzzles you’re looking for and create a monthly subscription. Recurring payments are a great way to ensure a more consistent “paycheck”.
@3.33 the book has a BSR of 40208 and it was published on May 30, 2024. This video is dated early July 2024. How is that even possible? How did it get such a ranking in such a short period of time?
I would probably avoid that unless you know exactly why it was blocked. Trying to republish a book that was already blocked could get the new book blocked, or worse, if KDP thinks you’re trying to trick them, it could get your account terminated. I’d suggest asking KDP directly and if they say yes, keep your communication to cover your backside.
Hi there, I have 2 questions: I have used font “Franklin Gothic Medium Cond” 16 pt in my large print puzzle book (as for large print book 16 pt or above font size is a requirement). But font despite being 16 pt is very small can I use it in my large print types of book?? Can we use a font size less than 16 pt (say 13,14 etc.) in our large print puzzle books after converting them to paths so they won’t be text anymore. Can we use small text that way for large print puzzle books??
There’re two separate concepts you’re talking about here. (Font size and appearance) Technically, to be considered large print your book needs to be mostly 16pt font or larger. That said, for your customers that are buying large print books, it’s the appearance that really matters. So, even if your font size is 16pt or larger, if you don’t think it LOOKS large enough, I suggest increasing it to make your customers happy! After all, they’re the ones that are leaving the reviews.
Hi, Keith. Do thes word search books have any solution pages? Because in doing research, I see that there are books with 100 puzzles and only 101 pages in the book, which means there probably are not any solution pages. Am I right?
Yes, I strongly suggest you include solutions inside your book. Lately, there’s a growing trend of creators making users go to a website to get the answers. These tend to get an above average number of negative reviews. I ALWAYS include solutions in my books.
I bought this the first day and was thrilled by the Mini-crosswords. You did a great job reviewing the software!
I’m quite impressed with the mini-crossword puzzles as well! I’m glad you enjoyed the video!
😊👍
Oh my word. I just decided last month that I was going to make mini's as that is what I personally buy to carry in my bag. 👏🏼
Sounds like perfect timing! 😊👍
looking forward to giving it a try
Let me know how it goes for you. 😊👍
I plan to offer different sizes of my puzzle books so this software is perfect for me.
Excellent! Great idea!

They probably ran ads and possibly did other marketing and promotion.
Can we use the interior of blocked book with new title????

@@KeithWheelerBooks thanks but will amazon accept the book in that case?
Why wouldn’t they? If you say it’s large print and the content is 16pt or larger, you should be good to go.
@@KeithWheelerBooks thanks that's a great help.
😊👍
Can you use Canva to put in images?
You sure can!
