I absolutely love this man's reviews. It's factual, fast-paced, objective and I love the small details like actually playing some music through the device's speakers. That's really important for me. Also, there doesn't seem to be ANY personal bias in the videos! Not even MKBHD is able to pull that off. Very well done sir, now if you'll excuse me, I'm off to get me a Z3.
I upgraded from my nexus 5 to this. I will say I love this phone. I miss having some sort of grip on my hand like the nexus had,because at times the glass does get slippery and you do feel like you're going to drop it. I'm really enjoying this phone from unboxing till now. I do recommend it to people not only for their ps4 feature but it is a great phone with an amazing Camara and tons of awesome features.
patochantk find someone who already has one and test it out. just a side note, i came from an ios device so little things like google play allowing me time to have a refund on apps are a bonus. the hardware is that solid that people even use it to take videos underwater, but i don't think i'll go that far!
I just got my Z3 last week.. Went in for a Nexus 6 and came out with the Z3. I'm really happy with it! I'm a heavy user and haven't needed a charge throughout the day. After being with iPhone for the last four years I was ready to jump to Android, thank God I did. Awesome phone

Love my z3, no lag whatsoever. 801 to 805 processor its not much of a difference as of now, perhaps in the long run it may catch up to it. But the design and speakers are stellar. Ui is simple, i personally use double tap to wake and double tap to sleep the phone. Easier than using the power button. My only complaint is an ir blaster.
Ir blaster is for using your smartphone as a remote controller for you tv. And no it never overheats when you are heavy gaming with all textures and resolution it may get a bit warm but its normal, never overheats.
I have a Z3, a PS4 and a PS Vita. It doesn't work with the Z3 if you're not home. But it's different with the Vita, where you can use 3G or other WiFi networks. Get your facts before arguing bi*ch.

Note 3 user here, I'm not getting another Samsung since I'm tired of the bloatware (though I must say the Note 4 looks pretty darn sleek). I'm considering the Z3 or iPhone. But I'm feeling really conflicted about Z3. Why can't they go all out in terms of specs? Quad HD completely optional but other flagships released recently are sporting faster CPU. Overall, the Z3 is a good phone but the compromises on specs prevents it from being the quintessential phone for Android (which sadly is still the Note 4), especially given the 6-month refresh cycle. I really want this phone to succeed badly because I am a Sony fan. But once again, the Xperia line is trapped in the good-phone-but-not-awesome purgatory. Any advice guys? Does the Z3 have merits over other phones that I missed?
I'm also a Note 3 user and am looking to buy a new phone. I'm going with the Nexus 6 as it has all the latest and greatest specs plus pure android and fast updates. I don't think you can go wrong with the Note 4 or Nexus 6
If you want ur phone out of bloatware u simply need to purchase "pure android phones" such as nexus 6 or silver edition versions of samsung htc etc. the advantage is simply fastest android experience + instant android updates by google. // plus be noticed that Sony is one of the fastest company for updating their phones to latest android versions. Z3 has the best ios (they call it steadyshot) performance imho . Camera of z3 simply rocks..
***** Too bad where I live the Nexus 6 is probably not going to be available from carriers. Off contract is too expensive for me and isn't worth it since I already pay a handsome monthly fee to the carriers anyway (might as well take advantage of the subsidized contract prices). Anw, just recently read about Z4 which is rumored to be out mid-year 2015. Not feeling to pumped up about Z3 anymore which simply goes to show how Sony's 6-month cycle is so out of touch with consumer psyche. It simply devalues their existing lineup. Thankfully, the Z4 is going after the best specs and putting to bed the unnecessary 6-month release cycle. If the rumors are true, looks like it's going to be Z4 for me.. or Nexus 6 if my service provider carries it.
Adan Thio yes Z4 is gonna have curved sensor on its camera and it's gonna be legendary and I indeed ur addings tho. btw i'm the same situation, where i live motorola doesn't exist so I quit using nexus .. I've switched to Sony, even tho people who get Z2 now sell their phones and put around +70-80 euros to their budgets to upgrade Z3 cuz there are lots of people who see the specs are nearly same between z2 and z3.. so at then end, for 6months ıt's not a big loss.. For a cheap solution u may get a used nexus 4 or 5 (brand LG) for next 6 months cuz even nexus 4 (2012 release date) now have android 5.0 and not even bugs or spikes for a second - super smooth - but i warn u that only backdraw is camera ; it is not high end. Just Ok for social network but not a sony or any 2014 flagship quality. hope u best.
ill be honest ive used many phones... most dont withstand me... of the few that do only 2 have done it stunningly... the motorolla droid razr and this phone... i am just in love with this one... im in a wheelchair and it fits nicely in my pocket without getting in the way of my pads on my chair and when it falls it doesnt get destroyed easily... that and i have small hands so i drop my phones a lot... i also spend time in the hospital and with remote play its great... i just wish sony made it so you could turn your ps4 on over the internet without being on the same network like you can with the vita... if you plan to use your ps4 when your out of your house you need to turn it on and change the power settings to 5 hours before it shuts off... i just love it its robust and sleek while still packing a punch...
After month of comparing phones been in love with one plus one no the HTC but the other, after been into the galaxy S line Xperia Z line. I got this today and got a go deal with my plan and phonet. Proud owner of Sony tv, PS4 and the Xperia Z tablet. Now Im getting the phone that always wanted to get Xperia Z3 :D

I switched from Verizon to T-Mobile (To get the Z1). T-Mobile has higher LTE speeds. And because it is GSM, you can roam easier. I have no issues with coverage. Sprint though, is terrible.
its just att doesnt seem to put it for sale in their store for some reason, so u have to go straight to sony to buy that particular model... maybe some lobbying trying to shut off sony? bad blood between both of them? sony not paying them to advertize ? iuno.
Haik0 it's not the protective coating, it's that xperia z1 has TN panel which has very bad viewing.angle Removing the coating is possible but won't have any effects with viewing angle

If I'm getting a phone just to put case on it, I may as well have stuck with a home phone. I like to appreciate the design that went into mobile phones nowadays. Also, if you need a case, you're the reckless one. Smart people know how to grip their phone properly.
Csab As hard it is to read that (honestly, learn to create sentences), I'll give my best to reply. Since I'm not working in construction, I have no problems in not buying a case. If I ever actually buy a case for my phone, it's only to increase my grip on it, not to protect it from fall damage. And even then, I can't even enjoy my phone because of said case.
Hey guys, Im a proud owner of Sony Xperia Z(c6603) and I have been using my Xperia z for more than two years now. I use my phone for Multimedia usage and gaming (MKX and Asphalt) on daily basis. My Xperia Z is still running good with a pretty good battery life and the performance is good. I've accidentally dropped my phone lot of times, more than i could remember and yet there is no shattered screen or broken glass. Some of the problems which i face are, 1.Camera: Lack of camera shutter, Autofocus lag and poor low light performance. 2.Speaker: avg performance and 3.Lags under heavy usage 4.The need to open headphone jack overtime i need to connect my earphones. So I'm planing on upgrading to Xperia Z2. After surfing the net and reading hundreds of reviews I found that Xperia Z2 and Z3 are having heating issues. Off course smartphones now a days have heating issues but is it that bad? coz I'm a heavy user and I'm afraid of my screen or glass cracking on Z2 or Z3, which would be a shame. So i'd like to know whether Xperia Z2 would be satisfactory or should i go for Xperia Z3 ?

The sony xperia z3 has a beautiful design language. The bad thing is that sony is really bad when it comes to marketing, that's one of the reason why the sony xperia z3 is not famous at all eventhough it has all the greatest qualities.
I agree. I went to buy an s5, and had it for one day. I hated it. Went back to store, and was directed to the Z3. I would have never looked in that direction, as my whole family is Samsung. I am glad that I went against the grain on this one. I will never look back at that laggy garbage again. As a side note, Beta Max should have won.
My one and only quiff with the Xperia phones is the lack of a home BUTTON. Thats the only reason I stick with Samsung and Apple... I NEED a home button.
If Sony wants to keep up, their going to have to now move to Quad HD and even consider putting Super AMOLED screens like Samsung, especially because they now decided to update their phone every 6 months which is a dumb move.
I used to like this phone. Above all the other flagships, I prefer this one. I'm planning on buying it until it turned me off. I've read lots of comments and forums about the self cracking screen issue. I'm afraid that same may happen to me once I bought it. I'm not sure if it's though. Never had a sony phone before.
Thank you, Joshua, for not hating on Sony for making another new flagship with only 1-2 new small features. Some reviewers don't seem to appreciate the quality of Sony devices. A good smartphone doesn't have to include some pseudo-innovative shit like fingerprint-scanning to be good. Don't get me wrong - the fingerprint scanner on the iPhone 6 is a nifty feature for people, who really need it, but it does not define whether a phone is good or bad. There are much more important things to consider, like battery life, build quality and so on.
It's crazy how well these Xperia phones hold up their value. The z3 costs like $300 and the z2 and even the z1 cost about the same. These prices are coming from amazon.

Im a Droidy who has been trying out an iphone 5s for the last 8 months. Great phone. But the droid urge is coming back. I got an upgrade available anytime with Tmo. Waiting on the right android. I like the S5 and M8 but this Z3 has really got my attention. Something different. Gonna have to check it out.
The only thing about the dust covers(esp, the charging port cover) is that they just dangle when they're open, when Sony only had to put a small hole to clip the cover into when charging(or a magnet to stick to the docking station connectors).even the case could have had a notch to clip the cover onto,but no Sony wants you to accidentally snap it off as they must think no one uses their phone while charging. nonetheless it's still an awesome phone Cheers for the review.
Android Authority Hi, I am a big fan of your detailed reviews and wana ask you which phone should I get z2,z3 or s5 as I am really concerned about the overheating issues of xperia while gaming watching videos or shooting, and am afraid will affect my phone in the long run though I feel like getting them due to better camera and battery performance than s5?
It looks like they're coming along nicely. That's good to know because your next upgrade will no longer be a Samsung for me anymore I'm moving on after this galaxy s5 to something else see as quality control is not a common enough practice at samsung.
long decision making process as i had iphone for 6 years, but i had enough of iphone, people wanted me to go samsong, but i really liked the specs (waterproof/camera specs) - we'll see and at least it's "only" a 2 year comittment now
i was never really a huge fan of sony's skin but on the z3's display with that red theme, it looked stunning. i love the phine, the build and the camera but not inlove with it
Just had to send this device off to Xperia Care to be fixed after only 10 months ownership. It died. Left me with no way of turning on the device, charging or connecting to Sony's PC companion. I tried to fix it myself with following the advice on Sony and Android forums but with no joy. Lets hope it comes back to me fixed.
Just left apple for this phone. Glad I did. Used to have the W880i back in the day. Also got a smart band talk band with the phone (thanks Virgin) taking calls on it is very James Bond lol
I know probably no one will read this but, I recommend this phone over phones like LG G4's and above etc, the phone is quick and has lasted my sister for the last 3 years, and she knows what a good phone is. She will not upgrade because she loves this phone in every aspect.
I was at T-Mobile choosing between the LG G3 and the Xperia Z3. The Z3 was MUCH more responsive in scrolling and general touch performance even though the G3 has an 805 and the Z3 has an 801
I've always had iPhone, but recently just switched to the xperia t3 & I love it way more than the iPhone. What do you guys think of the xperia t3? Is it as good as the z3? Or any other top of the line Sony phones? I know nothing about xperia phones.
I own the z1 and I really dont think I need to upgrade since it is already running super fast offers water resistance and it just seems to have all the same features as the newer models ill wait until some drastic changes come about maybe a strong glass would be good I know my experia z1 got scratches on the glass from a plastic card rubbing up against it. The card had a bit of a torn edge allowing it to scratch the screen and its really hard to keeo it looking polished and smooth. Little dints and chips are inevitable
I decided to get this phone, upgrading from an iPhone 4S that I have had for a while. I haven't actually got the Z3 yet, but I'm going to be very soon. The reason I decided to get this, is because the Z3 is almost 2 inches bigger than the 4S (4S is pretty small) and I've always wanted just an overall better phone. I've always wanted an android phone, but never have had one. Only seeing videos on it, I don't know if I'll like it or not. Could some android users out there tell me some cool features that the Z3 or just android can do that the iPhone can't? Note: This leaves out jailbreaking and rooting. But if you want to tell me something really cool from it, then just make sure to tell me you have to root or something else.
I like what is see. And for an average user it doesn't make a huge of a deference between snapdragon 805 and 801. They are both fast and can get you throw almost anything. Or am I wrong?

I know this video is old, but without any insight to the z3 +, I just wanted to ask, did you experience the random glass panels cracking? Users have reported that their screen cracked randomly, but i don't know if they are flash claims such as the water proof issues or are true issues. Thanks.
I just got the phone and for some reason it seems very laggy specifically when I try to download apps or load specific things. I literally just bought this phone a few hours ago so Idk if needs to be "broken in" or what. Either way I had the z1 before. I liked it (battery life, camera, waterproof) but the main problem was that it cracked after a month... But then again I didn't get a case which I guess was my bad... But even despite that the little door to the charger port broke easily too without me even figeting with it. I hope this one is a little more sturdy.

Double tap to sleep? The phone doesn't have that feature.

you can buy the z3 for Att, u just have to buy the right model which is 6603 for ATT , T-mobile, or any GSM carrier.

They had a protective coating on top of the display, making the viewing angles ridiculous.
That's it ? That's the problem ? so if I take it off my Xperia Z1 (I know the sony logo is on it !) it will look exactly like the Z3 does ?

Removing the coating is possible but won't have any effects with viewing angle

If I'm getting a phone just to put case on it, I may as well have stuck with a home phone. I like to appreciate the design that went into mobile phones nowadays. Also, if you need a case, you're the reckless one. Smart people know how to grip their phone properly.

Since I'm not working in construction, I have no problems in not buying a case. If I ever actually buy a case for my phone, it's only to increase my grip on it, not to protect it from fall damage. And even then, I can't even enjoy my phone because of said case.
Hey guys, Im a proud owner of Sony Xperia Z(c6603) and I have been using my Xperia z for more than two years now. I use my phone for Multimedia usage and gaming (MKX and Asphalt) on daily basis. My Xperia Z is still running good with a pretty good battery life and the performance is good. I've accidentally dropped my phone lot of times, more than i could remember and yet there is no shattered screen or broken glass.
Some of the problems which i face are, 1.Camera: Lack of camera shutter, Autofocus lag and poor low light performance. 2.Speaker: avg performance and 3.Lags under heavy usage 4.The need to open headphone jack overtime i need to connect my earphones.
So I'm planing on upgrading to Xperia Z2. After surfing the net and reading hundreds of reviews I found that Xperia Z2 and Z3 are having heating issues. Off course smartphones now a days have heating issues but is it that bad? coz I'm a heavy user and I'm afraid of my screen or glass cracking on Z2 or Z3, which would be a shame.
So i'd like to know whether Xperia Z2 would be satisfactory or should i go for Xperia Z3 ?

The sony xperia z3 has a beautiful design language. The bad thing is that sony is really bad when it comes to marketing, that's one of the reason why the sony xperia z3 is not famous at all eventhough it has all the greatest qualities.
I agree. I went to buy an s5, and had it for one day. I hated it. Went back to store, and was directed to the Z3. I would have never looked in that direction, as my whole family is Samsung. I am glad that I went against the grain on this one. I will never look back at that laggy garbage again. As a side note, Beta Max should have won.

My one and only quiff with the Xperia phones is the lack of a home BUTTON. Thats the only reason I stick with Samsung and Apple... I NEED a home button.

If Sony wants to keep up, their going to have to now move to Quad HD and even consider putting Super AMOLED screens like Samsung, especially because they now decided to update their phone every 6 months which is a dumb move.
What is the matter of putting a AMOLED display ? LCD IPD display are good enough, just look at the sexy iPhone ...

Thank you, Joshua, for not hating on Sony for making another new flagship with only 1-2 new small features. Some reviewers don't seem to appreciate the quality of Sony devices. A good smartphone doesn't have to include some pseudo-innovative shit like fingerprint-scanning to be good. Don't get me wrong - the fingerprint scanner on the iPhone 6 is a nifty feature for people, who really need it, but it does not define whether a phone is good or bad. There are much more important things to consider, like battery life, build quality and so on.
It's crazy how well these Xperia phones hold up their value. The z3 costs like $300 and the z2 and even the z1 cost about the same. These prices are coming from amazon.

Just got done watching the Sony Experia Z3 Compact Unboxing and he wasn't joking about the review for the Z3 coming out soon haha.
So far, this is the best phone that I have ever used. I had a chance using this phone for 1 whole day for me to write a review. Compared from other devices --- I would rate this as the best phone ever.

Im a Droidy who has been trying out an iphone 5s for the last 8 months. Great phone. But the droid urge is coming back. I got an upgrade available anytime with Tmo. Waiting on the right android. I like the S5 and M8 but this Z3 has really got my attention. Something different. Gonna have to check it out.
The only thing about the dust covers(esp, the charging port cover) is that they just dangle when they're open, when Sony only had to put a small hole to clip the cover into when charging(or a magnet to stick to the docking station connectors).even the case could have had a notch to clip the cover onto,but no Sony wants you to accidentally snap it off as they must think no one uses their phone while charging. nonetheless it's still an awesome phone

It looks like they're coming along nicely. That's good to know because your next upgrade will no longer be a Samsung for me anymore I'm moving on after this galaxy s5 to something else see as quality control is not a common enough practice at samsung.

long decision making process as i had iphone for 6 years, but i had enough of iphone, people wanted me to go samsong, but i really liked the specs (waterproof/camera specs) - we'll see and at least it's "only" a 2 year comittment now
i was never really a huge fan of sony's skin but on the z3's display with that red theme, it looked stunning. i love the phine, the build and the camera but not inlove with it
Just had to send this device off to Xperia Care to be fixed after only 10 months ownership. It died. Left me with no way of turning on the device, charging or connecting to Sony's PC companion. I tried to fix it myself with following the advice on Sony and Android forums but with no joy. Lets hope it comes back to me fixed.
Just left apple for this phone. Glad I did. Used to have the W880i back in the day. Also got a smart band talk band with the phone (thanks Virgin) taking calls on it is very James Bond lol

I know probably no one will read this but, I recommend this phone over phones like LG G4's and above etc, the phone is quick and has lasted my sister for the last 3 years, and she knows what a good phone is. She will not upgrade because she loves this phone in every aspect.

The lifelog was DEVOURING my battery so I disabled it. It's nice to know how much you slept but the cost was much high.
The only thing I like about the z3 is the copper colour which looks so unique and hot.
I was at T-Mobile choosing between the LG G3 and the Xperia Z3. The Z3 was MUCH more responsive in scrolling and general touch performance even though the G3 has an 805 and the Z3 has an 801

I have just ordered one, time for my 3GS to retire haha its done me good.
I own the z1 and I really dont think I need to upgrade since it is already running super fast offers water resistance and it just seems to have all the same features as the newer models ill wait until some drastic changes come about maybe a strong glass would be good I know my experia z1 got scratches on the glass from a plastic card rubbing up against it. The card had a bit of a torn edge allowing it to scratch the screen and its really hard to keeo it looking polished and smooth. Little dints and chips are inevitable

I decided to get this phone, upgrading from an iPhone 4S that I have had for a while. I haven't actually got the Z3 yet, but I'm going to be very soon. The reason I decided to get this, is because the Z3 is almost 2 inches bigger than the 4S (4S is pretty small) and I've always wanted just an overall better phone. I've always wanted an android phone, but never have had one. Only seeing videos on it, I don't know if I'll like it or not. Could some android users out there tell me some cool features that the Z3 or just android can do that the iPhone can't? Note: This leaves out jailbreaking and rooting. But if you want to tell me something really cool from it, then just make sure to tell me you have to root or something else.

I know this video is old, but without any insight to the z3 +, I just wanted to ask, did you experience the random glass panels cracking? Users have reported that their screen cracked randomly, but i don't know if they are flash claims such as the water proof issues or are true issues. Thanks.
I just got the phone and for some reason it seems very laggy specifically when I try to download apps or load specific things. I literally just bought this phone a few hours ago so Idk if needs to be "broken in" or what. Either way I had the z1 before. I liked it (battery life, camera, waterproof) but the main problem was that it cracked after a month... But then again I didn't get a case which I guess was my bad... But even despite that the little door to the charger port broke easily too without me even figeting with it. I hope this one is a little more sturdy.
